Avatar f tn G'day. I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right area-don't know where else to put it. I've had a concussion for about 9 days now with "usual, mild-average" symptoms. The last couple days have been like the first couple days, cannot rest my head at night from the pain, taking two 650 mg Tylenols when I think of it, also seem more confused & forgetful (before major loss of sleep). The last 48 hrs. I've slept for 40 min's.
Avatar f tn Loss of consciousness isn’t required for a diagnosis of concussion or post concussion syndrome. Post concussion syndrome occurs within first 7 to 10 days and until 3 months. Symptoms are variable including dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, light and noise sensitivity, headache varying from a tension type to cluster headaches. You need to consult a neurologist immediately.
Avatar n tn Most people recover completely, particularly if postconcussion syndrome symptoms do not develop. Postconcussion syndrome symptoms are common during the week after brain injury. They often resolve during the second week. However, sometimes symptoms persist for months or, rarely, years. Your friend should consult a neurologist and undergo a MRI to see the effects of head injury. There could be inflammation of the brain tissue causing headache and nausea.
Avatar m tn My 16 year old son was in a car wreck 5 1/2 days ago where he suffered a grade 2 moderate concussion. He was knocked unconscious for a short period of time & received a scalp laceration to the right side of his head . The CT scan discovered what the neurosurgeon described as a small thread size bleed. Later that day another CT scan was done & all signs of bleeding were gone & the blood had been absorbed. His stay in the hospital was for 3 days.

Avatar m tn It is possible to have post-concussion syndrome for months and even years after the incident. This condition is a complex disorder in which a combination of post-concussion symptoms like headaches, tinnitus and dizziness are experienced. There are no specific treatment for post-concussion syndrome but treatment for the individual symptoms you experience is made by your doctor. Regular follow-up with your doctor is highly recommended. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn Last Aug (09) I had a concussion/neck injury which left me with post concussion symptoms that subsided in Nov. The neck injury has been an ongoing problem with pain. With it has been the rocking sensation that is in sync with my heart beat. Had MRIs of head and neck (shows DDD bulging discs in neck, pinched nerve), Audiology exams (clear), Neurologist exam and Steroid Injs in neck.
Avatar f tn I diagnosed concussion because I had pretty much all the symptoms of one. And I didn't go to the hospital for two reasons 1) I didn't feel like trusting my driving skills after that 2) I did a typical test for "serious" head trama (watching what your eyes do, how long you can focus on things ext) so I knew it wasn't "serious" so I didn't think to go. I know thats bad but what can I say.
Avatar n tn when I came home from work he was still sleeping. I am terrifyed that he has a concussion. What will happen if it goes untreated? He is confused, dizzy and won't go to the doctor. Avatar f tn Amantadine has made a dramatic improvement for me for post-concussion syndrome. I am 8 months post-concussion after getting hit on the left temple by a baseball pitch. CT scan normal, no bleeding or injury. Symptoms had increased over time, but the pressure, migraines, and sensitivity to certain sounds were almost unbearable. I moved to a city with a concussion specialist and have started Amantadine for my initial treatment.
Avatar f tn Since this is a concussion injury which is a brain injury causes by a sudden blow to the head or to the body. Symptoms of a concussion include memory loss, headaches or blurry vision, nausea, inability to stand or walk or having coordination and balance problems. There is an entity of post concussive syndrome where there is inability to think and headaches, changes in sleep patterns and personality etc. This needs to be evaluated clinically, CT/MRI scan brain needs to be done to rule out.
3161076 tn?1343698755 Does a head concussion cause a person to sleep a lot? I got into an accident and hit my head 2 months ago, last week i fell down the stairs and hit my head on the wall, now I'm sleeping a lot, what does that mean?
Avatar n tn Your symptoms could be due to migraine or PCS ( post concussion syndrome ) because of the concussion that you had years ago. Please go for an MRI brain to know the exact cause and consult a neurologist for treatment as a delay could be dangerous. There are chances of getting a stroke. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards !
Avatar f tn re supposed to take it easy after a concussion and orgasm raises your BP and all. Most of my symptoms of the concussion have gone away, aside from double vision. Thoughts?
Avatar m tn A concussion can last for weeks after the head injury. The symptoms too vary from person to person. Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere.
Avatar f tn I slept over 17 hrs that day and another 16 the next. I finally went to the er when my headache got too bad and I kept sleeping. I explained the numbness in my feet and headache and exhaustion and was diagnosed with a concussion. Since going home from the er my symptoms are not improving. I sleep all the time and my headache is getting worse and not responding to meds. My vision keeps getting blurry even going completely black and my feet still have numbness that isn't going away.
Avatar m tn Obviously as you mentioned there are other factors such as anxiety, depression, lack of deep sleep, not eating enough which can amplify the physical symptoms. Also the fact that I already had post concussion symptoms regardless. Dont think I had a goose egg just some slight bruising and I felt like a bit of pain or a sore spot in the area I was hit for a few days.
Avatar m tn He went over some x-rays with me that showed a significant loss of spinal curve in the neck and he suggests that fixing this issue is crucial to healing my concussion symptoms. I wonder if this is a marketing tool that chiropractors often use. He wants to do adjustments on my neck with his activator tool to help realign my c-1/atlas vertebra. He has prescribed a bunch of range of motion/flexibility stretches and strength exercises for the neck.
Avatar m tn Like i said i went to urgent care 8 hours later he checked me out and said mild concussion. I havent been sleeping all that much maybe 5 hours or less at night. But i feel like my vision has changed and now im worried about a Chronic Subdural Hematoma. What are the number one signs for that? Is vision being messed up on of the first signs or is maybe the sleep or even the sines what are signs of chronic hematomo? Im so afraid of dieing in my sleep or going blind.
Avatar m tn To whom it may concern, I am currently living in Antwerp and, three nights ago, while having fun with my friends, I got very drunk, lost balance and banged my head against a wall. I didn't lose conscienciousness, although my memories of the event are blurry, probably more due to alcohol, although it could have been a mixture of both. The next morning I woke up with an awful hangover and just stayed resting at home.

Avatar n tn You have classic symptoms of Post Concussion Syndrome. There are many things you can do to relieve the symptoms and is a trial and error effort. Headache medicines, therapies, addressing neck injuries, vision issues, ear issues etc., Find a right doctor who knows about Post Concussion Syndrome and unfortunately there are not that many. Some don't even have a clue about it so be careful when you go to some one and dont get disappointed. I have been suffering for 2.
Avatar f tn I’m 14 year old girl and I just got back from a ski trip. Basically what makes me believe I might have a concussion is that 5 days ago we where skiing and I fell on a pretty flat run, I went face first landing on the left side of my face, I was unconscious for 30 seconds. My dad told me some guy offered to call ski patrol which my dad said no to. I slowly got up, I had a pretty bad headache as we where skiing down.
Avatar f tn I had a concussion 20 days ago, following a blow to the left temple. As well as a headache , I experienced waves of strange feelings in head including cold feeling, numbness, waves of tingling and pressure with dizziness. Very sleepy, irritable and emotional. Pressure headache worsened after activity and as days progressed. On and off nausea. On day 6 was sent to ER from work. concussion diagnosed and rest prescribed.
Avatar f tn My 9 week old pup fell off chair and banged her head and she sleeping alot what could be wrong
Avatar m tn The symptoms could be due to concussion and this will go with time. However, it could also be due to pinched nerve in the neck. The passing out could be due to vasovagal attack. The complex group of symptoms is mediated by the vagus nerve. This nerve is irritated by prolonged standing, standing up suddenly, stress, pain, hunger, dehydration, intense emotion etc. It can happen post exercise too.
