Avatar f tn Less than 10 minutes after traction I had sudden onset weakness on my right side with foot drop as well as swelling on the left side of my neck. I had no problems with my right leg prior to this. The symptoms got worse over several days and then the foot drop slowly improved but never completely resolved. I suffered a concussion 3 months later which caused additional neurological problems and temporary seizures but those have mostly resolved.
Avatar f tn I diagnosed concussion because I had pretty much all the symptoms of one. And I didn't go to the hospital for two reasons 1) I didn't feel like trusting my driving skills after that 2) I did a typical test for "serious" head trama (watching what your eyes do, how long you can focus on things ext) so I knew it wasn't "serious" so I didn't think to go. I know thats bad but what can I say.
Avatar f tn You could have subtle concussion symptoms or could have just gotten your bell rung a little bit....rest and drink some fluids. If things dont improve after a week or two then take some further action.
2073947 tn?1333731698 Now, because of the concussion, I am aware of the reasons for the gradual decline and after the concussion came an onset of a number of new symptoms as well as some of the old ones getting worse. I don't blame work for this as it was something I was born with. Just the extra symptoms are starting to get to me. How do I talk with this NS without feeling like an idiot and without him treating me like there is nothing wrong with me just to appease the WC people?
Avatar n tn Your symptoms could be due to migraine or PCS ( post concussion syndrome ) because of the concussion that you had years ago. Please go for an MRI brain to know the exact cause and consult a neurologist for treatment as a delay could be dangerous. There are chances of getting a stroke. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards !

Avatar m tn A concussion can last for weeks after the head injury. The symptoms too vary from person to person. Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere.
Avatar n tn I have had brain calcifications since I was at least 19 when they first found them when I became extremely ill with motor control issues. At first, they suspected sudden onset of Fahr's, but I recovered and with rehab i was able to walk and talk again and live a normal life. There was no official diagnosing for what happened to me.. I am 36 now.
Avatar f tn However, a few hours after the fall I started to have sudden onset diarrhea. My temperature would rise and I would feel extremely nauseous. I am just wondering if it could be related to the fall at all?

Avatar f tn Loss of consciousness isn’t required for a diagnosis of concussion or post concussion syndrome. Post concussion syndrome occurs within first 7 to 10 days and until 3 months. Symptoms are variable including dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, light and noise sensitivity, headache varying from a tension type to cluster headaches. You need to consult a neurologist immediately.
Avatar n tn Most people recover completely, particularly if postconcussion syndrome symptoms do not develop. Postconcussion syndrome symptoms are common during the week after brain injury. They often resolve during the second week. However, sometimes symptoms persist for months or, rarely, years. Your friend should consult a neurologist and undergo a MRI to see the effects of head injury. There could be inflammation of the brain tissue causing headache and nausea.

Avatar f tn I would rather have my MRI read in Cleveland. I wonder how long a person can have concussion symptoms. If the symptoms should have disappeared by now, I have to wonder if it is the Chiari that is worse bc of the hard hit on the head.
Avatar f tn t due to the concussion but something found because of the concussion causing you to get diagnostic testing done. But I would get a 2d opinion unless the near-surgeon and the testing saw something urgent. A lot can be wrong without symptoms.

From this one I had a report of severe concussion with mild amnesia, which four months later has not gone away. I also exhibit no abnormalities in my eyes. Sorry I forgot to include this before.
Avatar m tn Usually people recover from a concussion without any residual effects. Some people may manifest the symptoms longer and the condition is termed as post concussion syndrome. Repeated concussions are known to double the risk. After a concussion, the levels of brain chemicals are altered. It usually takes about a week for these levels to stabilize again. However, the time it takes to recover from a concussion is variable, so avoid all strenuous activity till complete recovery.
Avatar f tn Ok so about 7-8 months ago I suffered a concussion and was off work for quite a time I am getting back to it now.
