612876 tn?1355514495 Hey guys and gals, I'm still going to be away for a bit longer, but just wanted to pop in and let you all know that I'm thinking of you. I'm sorry I can't be here right now to keep up with things. Yesterday I was diagnosed with a concussion from the syncope I had in the shower last week, which explains many of the symptoms I'm having. My doctor is hoping these symptoms will alleviate as my brain recovers over the next week or two from the injury to it.
Avatar n tn With this fall he hit his head and blacked out After the last fall he now is having seizure like shaking and fainting spells. Sometimes the fainting is with out the seizure like shaking. He has had an MRI and EEG both have come back normal. They have said that he has PCS(post soncussion symdrome). But, none of these systoms match that dignose.
Avatar m tn 10 days ago I suffered a concussion due to a fall after fainting. We don't know how long I was unconscious (I was alone), but it was no more than 10-15 minutes. I was unable to remember anything regarding the actual injury (i.e. where I hit the back of my head) or my trip to the hospital and the ER until about an hour before I was discharged. I 'lost" about 3 hours in total.
Avatar n tn Four days ago I hit the right side of my forehead, frontal lobe on corner of hard wood door. It swelled up immediately and iced it for two or so hours then went to bed. Day three I started bruising around outside of my eye and became tired and confused a little. My dr. Tested me and said it was mild concussion and to take it easy. Does anyone know what signs I can look for if I'm to be getting better. I'm still tired, irritable and restless.
Avatar m tn I agree with researching anything and everything pertaining to my daughter's concussion. I have researched and that is why I was curious if you have had "fainting with a concussion".. Apparently, the Neurologists are a bit stumped that my daughter faints from Post concussion syndrome and does not have Epilepsy. She has had various tests and they come out negative. Thank you again for our feedback...
Avatar f tn During the trip, which was going good, i fainted. I don’t remember fainting, but i remember the dark place i was at while being unconscious. I then had a seizure, i could feel and see the blackness shaking (confirmed by friend) and then i woke up screaming at the top of my lungs asking what happened. I noticed i couldn’t hear anything, i could see my roommate talking and i knew i was screaming but i couldn’t hear anything for about 5-7 seconds.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if there is another condition that had similar symptoms to post concussion syndrome. I have all of the most commonCommon coldsymptoms such as fatigue, nausea, migrains, mood swings, difficulty concentrating and remembering, but I also loss blocks of time, I pass out, and often experience some numbnessNumbness and tinglingon one side of my body. Could I have something other than Post Concussion Syndrome, and if so what?
Avatar f tn OMG! My 16 year old daughter had suffered a concussion also. She has been fainting/passing out and had similar work up including EEG's. We have been trying various doctors and asking Neurologist if they are familiar with the syncope and most of the time they are not when it is with a concussion. They do not rule it out, but she has been tested for seizures, epilepsy and all EEg's come out normal. Currently they are considering an overnight EED.
Avatar n tn About 6 months ago I got a concussion after fainting and hitting my head. They did a CT that came back ok. Over the next few weeks I experienced major nausea and a sensation of weakness. I had other symptoms like trouble focusing and reading and light sensitivity, but those went away after about a month. I ended up getting an MRI which came back normal and was told that I had post concussive syndrome.
Avatar m tn While at the receptionist desk I got very light headed and passed out, hit my head on the wall and put a hole in the drywall. I was incontinent which lead them to believe that I had a seizure after fainting. I had a CT scan which came back good and I'm waiting on the results of an EEG. I have history or fainting or seizures and no family history either.
480448 tn?1426948538 WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who canceled an overseas trip last weekend because of illness, suffered a concussion after fainting due to dehydration, prompting the postponement of her scheduled congressional testimony on the attack on a U.S. mission in Libya, officials said on Saturday.
Avatar f tn Hello. Thank you for the information. It is very interesting, as I have never heard of PCS before. Since I originally posted, I have received a neurologists report that says I have damage to the first three cervical vertebrae, damage to the greater occipital nerve, and he recommends an MRI to rule out other things such as syrinx, herniated disc, etc. I imagine it will take months to get an MRI, if ever.
Avatar f tn My 28 year old health son, informed me on 4-30-13 that he had a headache for @ 6 days. 2 weeks before that he indicated that he think he fainted in the bathroom because he woke up in the bathtub askew and the shower curtain was torn down around him. He also indicated when telling me that he thought he fainted that the last thing he remembered was going into the bathroom and looking in the mirror.
Avatar m tn The symptoms could be due to concussion and this will go with time. However, it could also be due to pinched nerve in the neck. The passing out could be due to vasovagal attack. The complex group of symptoms is mediated by the vagus nerve. This nerve is irritated by prolonged standing, standing up suddenly, stress, pain, hunger, dehydration, intense emotion etc. It can happen post exercise too.
Avatar f tn Many patients (up to 30%) may experience one of these symptoms after a concussion. Up to 7% in some reports may continue experiencing the symptoms years after the initial injury. It is important to make sure that the injury from the ball did not cause structural harm. Did you have a head scan when it happened? You will also need to be evaluated by a neurologist to rule out other neurological findings. The treatment may involve medication, physical therapy (i.e.
Avatar f tn ve had a couple of concussions resulting from my frequent fainting episodes. One concussion in particular resulted in frequent partial seizures. Luckily the seizures subsided on their own within a year. I do occasionally have partial seizures after fainting episodes though, but I don't have epilepsy. I've never broken any bones, which I am quite happy about. I've gotten many cuts, scars, and bruises though.
Avatar f tn I diagnosed concussion because I had pretty much all the symptoms of one. And I didn't go to the hospital for two reasons 1) I didn't feel like trusting my driving skills after that 2) I did a typical test for "serious" head trama (watching what your eyes do, how long you can focus on things ext) so I knew it wasn't "serious" so I didn't think to go. I know thats bad but what can I say.
Avatar n tn sounds like he was taken caare of after the incident.....only if he has a reoccurance of the fainting or other symptoms develope he should be ok....since he's a teen, it could be so many things......ask him, if he's the type to talk, how he's feeling now and to let u know if there r ne changes. I am not a medical professional, just a mom.....
Avatar f tn I am hypothyrodic and the first symptoms I had was light headedness ans weakness. Take a simple general blood test to see the levels of your blood cells and your TSH (thyroid hormone).
Avatar n tn Your symptoms could be due to migraine or PCS ( post concussion syndrome ) because of the concussion that you had years ago. Please go for an MRI brain to know the exact cause and consult a neurologist for treatment as a delay could be dangerous. There are chances of getting a stroke. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards !
Avatar f tn re supposed to take it easy after a concussion and orgasm raises your BP and all. Most of my symptoms of the concussion have gone away, aside from double vision. Thoughts?
Avatar m tn A concussion can last for weeks after the head injury. The symptoms too vary from person to person. Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere.
Avatar m tn I'm 31 male, until one year back I had little bit low blood pressure due to regular exercising. For the past 3 days and out of the blue I feel dizzy, and feeling to vomit ( low blood pressure) although I'm not exercising since few months now. It is really weirded as I it's the first time to happen and on daily basis for the past 3 days, feeling the same symptoms, rest for couple of hrs, then I'm fine. Go to work next day , feeling okay, then it happens in the after noon.
Avatar f tn I have almost all the symptoms plus extreme fatigue, feel like fainting (in stores/malls so I avoid them) etc., and I have zero quality of life. But mine happened after a head injury and hope your husband didn't hit his head and had a concussion. Have they checked for LYME disease which is very tricky to find and can cause all these symptoms. I had done all the tests, tried many medications, therapies etc., with no success except Xanax helps a little bit.
Avatar m tn I am a 20 year-old female weighin 179 at 5'4. In January I almost fainted at school while seated in the auditorium watching a comedy. I went to the emergency room where it was noted that I was tachy (about 120 seated) but there was no identifiable cause so I was sent home. About two days later I experienced the same issue, almost fainting twice in the shower. So, I went to the emergency room and the same was said, they couldn't find an explanation.
