Avatar f tn It seems extremely unlikely that a whiplash injury could cause sleep apnea. If you do turn out to have sleep apnea, it is more likely that you had it prior to the car accident and just weren't aware of it. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn G'day. I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right area-don't know where else to put it. I've had a concussion for about 9 days now with "usual, mild-average" symptoms. The last couple days have been like the first couple days, cannot rest my head at night from the pain, taking two 650 mg Tylenols when I think of it, also seem more confused & forgetful (before major loss of sleep). The last 48 hrs. I've slept for 40 min's.

3161076 tn?1343698755 Does a head concussion cause a person to sleep a lot? I got into an accident and hit my head 2 months ago, last week i fell down the stairs and hit my head on the wall, now I'm sleeping a lot, what does that mean?
Avatar n tn They now say that the person can sleep after a concussion. The reasons for not letting them sleep before was incase the person slips into a coma - when they are awake at least they can monitor the person. Try making a deal with him - if he gets checked out by a doctor - you will let him sleep.
Avatar m tn There are no randomized studies on sleep disturbance in brain injury patients. The sleep disturbance may last a few days to a few weeks/months. If it does persist, I would advise getting a sleep study evaluation to ensure he has not developed sleep apnea. It is also important to recognize that post-concussive symptoms may also include headache, dizziness, memory challenges, difficulties with concentration, fatigue, depression, anxiety, and increased or decrease in sleep.
Avatar m tn A sever head blow is likely to cause headaches. If you develop nausea, vomiting, excess sleep, severe headache, difficulty in walking and balance, tremors, seizures, vision problems, ringing in ears etc then consult a doctor immediately. These symptoms develop if there is a brain injury or bleed. Otherwise this pressure will go in a few days. However, it is important to get a medical evaluation. So please consult your doctor once. Take care!
Avatar f tn I had a metal iron shelf fall on my head at work 4 months ago, got a concussion and ended up with post traumatic concussion syndrome. He needs to go to the doctor!!!!! He needs to have a CT or MRI to check for headbleeding then he needs to see a neurologist and let them run test!!!!! It's so important. They told me if I hit my head again I'll have permanent damage.
Avatar n tn On Jan 14/09, I took a bad spill down 13 hardwood stairs, going unconcscious, breaking my nose and getting stitches between by eyes. I had a pretty severe concussion, but after a couple weeks bedrest I was up and running fine. About a month after the accident, I woke up feeling off. I had extreme vertigo and tightness in my head. I figured I'd sleep it off but it has not gone away. My symptoms are consantly changing but none the less, scaring me.
Avatar n tn I was in a MVA Sept 2007. I have a grade 3 concussion. I have now had PCS for 6 months. Dr's say i'm looking at 1 year before i recover. I have major sleep problems, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, bad balance, headaches, memory problems,no sense of smell, sensitivity to light and noise, very poor concentration. Everything is a huge effort. I try pushing myself but that only has made me so frusturated I turn into a monster!
Avatar m tn Yes, loss of curvature normal kyphosis of neck is a problem that inhibits concussion recovery, as does lack of quality sleep for the brain to heal. Yes, gentle chirpractic has help for me, but stay away from "strengthening exercises" and overdoing physical therapy.
Avatar f tn Out headboard is about three and a half to four feet higher than our heads while we sleep. We have this rectangular block that has candles in it ( made of wood) on our headboard which she knocked off and it fell right on our heads. It weighs about 4 lbs. My boyfriend got a cut and an abrasion, plus a goose egg and a bit of bruising on his head from it. It barely got me. He has had severe headaches every day since I haPpened and even nausea a few times since then.
Avatar m tn 10 days ago I suffered a concussion due to a fall after fainting. We don't know how long I was unconscious (I was alone), but it was no more than 10-15 minutes. I was unable to remember anything regarding the actual injury (i.e. where I hit the back of my head) or my trip to the hospital and the ER until about an hour before I was discharged. I 'lost" about 3 hours in total.
Avatar n tn http://www.emedicinehealth.com/concussion/page2_em.htm#Concussion%20Symptoms) The symptoms may resolve after some time or may persists. After initial treatment, it is important to go to your follow-up appointments for evaluation and monitoring. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I have trouble sleeping them sleep for 12 hours but not sleep, not rest. shoot writing this is torcher but I have to find help.
Avatar f tn Delayed symptoms of concussion include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere. In absence of these symptoms and based on the history a diagnosis of concussion is given. Suicidal thoughts can also be due to damage to the frontal lobe. This can also cause mood swings. Hence please get this assessed by a neurologist.
Avatar n tn Your symptoms could be due to migraine or PCS ( post concussion syndrome ) because of the concussion that you had years ago. Please go for an MRI brain to know the exact cause and consult a neurologist for treatment as a delay could be dangerous. There are chances of getting a stroke. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards !

Avatar f tn I suffered a concussion 4 months ago when I fell during a parade with my high school band. My mom took me to the ER and I was diagnosed with a concussion. I had a CT scan and nothing was out of the ordinary, and it seemed to just be a mild concussion. 4 months later, I'm still having issues. I'm a junior in high school and concentration and memory issues made me switch out of all of my honors classes into regular ones and drop both math and science completely.
Avatar f tn I have struggled with anxiety for awhile with no medication, and right now I have had post-concussion symptoms for 2 weeks. Something has happened that triggered my anxiety tonight and I haven't been able to sleep, I have a numb sensation through my body, I'm lightheaded, I'm shaking/trembling badly, and I'm sick to my stomach. Is this an anxiety attack or should I see a doctor to check on my post-concussion syndrome? HELP!
Avatar m tn I sustained a minor concussion three weeks ago, and though my logical and linguistic faculties seemed to return to normal within a couple days, I have had persistent feelings of pressure and weakness in my head, though these have markedly diminished within the past week. At present, I have recovered enough that I am able to use the computer (with the monitor at low brightness) for simple tasks like reading and writing emails.
