Concussion road show

Common Questions and Answers about Concussion road show

concussion

Avatar m tn The other night while we were driving home at about 65 miles per hour, we had to stop almost immediately due to an elk standing in the road. Starting the next day, I've had concussion symptoms (headache/dizziness/fatigue/sleepiness/mental fatigue/brain fog/difficulty concentrating/feeling out of it). I did not hit my head, but I did sort of brace it/try to hold it in place while we stopped. Is it possible to get a concussion just from slamming on the brakes at 65 miles per hour?

Avatar m tn I hit the middle, right side of my forehead at work and ended up with a " goose egg " and small cut where I hit it. I got a headache and then very nauseated about 20 minutes later. The next day at work I was almost finished with my shift and all the sudden I got so dizzy I couldn't walk out of work without holding on to the wall. The third day when I was at home, I woke up, I still had a headache and was dizzy all day and just felt blah so I went to my dr. that day.
1810335 tn?1318384373 It is not difficult to receive a concussion. I would recommend getting imaging of your head, i.e. MRI, CT for starts.
Avatar f tn Loss of consciousness isn’t required for a diagnosis of concussion or post concussion syndrome. Post concussion syndrome occurs within first 7 to 10 days and until 3 months. Symptoms are variable including dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, light and noise sensitivity, headache varying from a tension type to cluster headaches. You need to consult a neurologist immediately.
Avatar m tn I show all but one sign of having brain swelling. I have: Headache; Neck pain or stiffness; Nausea or vomiting; Dizziness; Irregular breathing; Vision loss or changes; Memory loss; Inability to walk; Difficulty speaking; Stupor; Loss of consciousness. The only one I dont have is seizures and I hope I never do. This pain has been constant since I was 11 years old. I was hit by a car and got a concussion, broke my collar bone and bad road-rash.
Avatar f tn A few hours ago, I tripped and fell on uneven concrete. My knees and hands hit the ground, and my head whipped forward and my chin hit the concrete pretty hard. My chin didn't get cut, but there is a bump on it now. I don't think I have any other symptoms, except I have a upset stomach (probably unrelated). Right away I got up and was a bit shaken up and embarrassed.
Avatar f tn Ok so about 7-8 months ago I suffered a concussion and was off work for quite a time I am getting back to it now. My question is can suffering a concussion cause depression and suicidal thoughts as well as self harm? Basically when I was a teenager I was suicidal and a cutter and haven't done anything like that since, until I got the concussion and a few months into the treatment etc I started cutting again and feeling suicidal.
Avatar f tn and was hit in the head from other team mates going for the ball,he was suppossably knocked out for at least 5 min or more, and when he came too no one was around and he didnt even know what had happen to him,he just remebers gettting up from off the ground, when my father went to pick him up from school he told me that my son was looking sorta gazed at him complaining that his head hurts bad and that he couldnt see good, now at the school function there was no adults around at no part of the prac
Avatar f tn Would i CT scan show a crack in my skull? Would a CT scan show internal bleeding? I did the CT scan a day after the injury im worried that there was so much inflammation that they couldnt see the crack in my skull or internal bleeding? Thanks. Will my concussion be permanent?
12128836 tn?1423574148 The statement that "in emergency medicine a concussion is not very serious" is absurd and incorrect A concussion is due to a blow on the head. The brain moves and actually displaces. In all concussions there is swelling. The swelling in turn impinges on blood flow, which in turn causes necrosis (death) of brain cells. In general there is a window-of-opportunity to administer drugs to reduce the swelling. There can be damage without the presence of nausea or of unconsciousness.
Avatar n tn I was in a MVA Sept 2007. I have a grade 3 concussion. I have now had PCS for 6 months. Dr's say i'm looking at 1 year before i recover. I have major sleep problems, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, bad balance, headaches, memory problems,no sense of smell, sensitivity to light and noise, very poor concentration. Everything is a huge effort. I try pushing myself but that only has made me so frusturated I turn into a monster!
Avatar f tn Again there are cases where it is considered Concussion and suffered from memory loss, executive functioning etc., MRIs/CT scans can only show gross injuries and not at ultra-microscopic level. You can get an MRI and find out if you have any of that but it won't give how many lost. Just look out for symptoms and if there is nothing noticeable you just keep moving on.
Avatar f tn I suffered a concussion 4 months ago when I fell during a parade with my high school band. My mom took me to the ER and I was diagnosed with a concussion. I had a CT scan and nothing was out of the ordinary, and it seemed to just be a mild concussion. 4 months later, I'm still having issues. I'm a junior in high school and concentration and memory issues made me switch out of all of my honors classes into regular ones and drop both math and science completely.
Avatar f tn Probably you had a concussion and having Post Concussion effects. You can consult a Neuro-Otologist and Neurologist and see if you have any inner ear issues. Reason for dizziness can be very many. Get an MRI done to be safe.
Avatar n tn When my husband was discharged from the ER they gave him a paper explaining about head concussion. So we assumed he had a head concussion. He did o.k. for two days and then started being confused and disoriented again. For the most part he seems fine, but today he had another episode of confussion/disorientation and dizziness. Are this symptoms normal? Thanks for any response.
Avatar f tn Yesterday I suffered mild blow to the head. I have hit my head many times before, much harder than yesterday and yet, I've never experienced any symptoms that might be indicative of concussion. Yesterday, however, I felt a bit dizzy for a few minutes immediately after having been hit. Also, 15 minutes following the blow, I started to feel a bit nauseated.
8506420 tn?1398432580 There are no signs of bone injury nor any swelling could be felt. Kitten did not respond or show any pain when we felt the different portions of her head and body. There was no increase in heart rate and breathing. There is no bleeding from the nose, but there seemed to be anal discharge due to a foul smell, but no liquid is excreting. Movement is 100% when treats are shown to her, she is able to run around and jump as per normal without any disorientation.
Avatar f tn My 12 year old son, Ben, suffered a concussion in April 2008 when he was hit with a line drive hardball in his left eye while playing baseball. The impact of the ball caused the concussion, and the shape of his pupil is now oval. I took him to a pediatric opthamologist who did a thorough exam. He said there is no lasting damage other than the shape of the pupil, but he needed glasses.
Avatar n tn I HAD A FALL FEB OF 08 WHICH I HIT MY FOREHEAD AND BRUISE MY LEFT ELBOW. I WAS SENT TO GET A CATSCAN OF MY HEAD AND MY PCP TOLD ME I HAD JUST INFLAMMATION AND GAVE ME SOME MEDS TO TAKE PLUS I HAD A SM HOLE IN MY EAR...WELL I HAVE HAD OTHER FALLS BEFORE THIS ONE AND NEVER HAVE I EXPERINCE HEADACHES THEY HAVE BEEN COMING AND GOING BUT WHEN I GET THEM MY EYELIDS FEEL VERY HEAVY, AND I GET REAL DIZZNESS LIKE WHERE EVER I AM I WENT TO JUST GO TO SLEEP...
Avatar f tn Yeah if your cramping there gonna wanna see you they stopped my labor Friday and then again Monday and are trying some meds to keep the contractions down
Avatar f tn If they removed your thyroid and gave you chemo, since thyroid cancer is about the most curable kind there is, I do not believe your symptoms come from that. Rather if you hit your head in the wreck or it got yanked around, you may have gotten a concussion, and that will cause your symptoms. With that said, you MUST visit either a neurologist or orthopedist ASAP to get a head scan... sometimes scans right after a head injury won't show much.
Avatar m tn Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern. Usually, such headaches and dizziness may result due to post-concussion syndrome and may last for weeks or months after the injury that caused from the injury of a fall, vehicle accident, or sports injury.
Avatar f tn A natural way is boil one cup of water mix one teaspoon basil and one teaspoon oragano let sit for five munutes and drink. Use fresh or dried ingridents.
