Avatar f tn Has your doctor tested to see if a rise in blood pressure aggravates or causes the return of your concussion symptoms. Your recovery time generally depends upon this assessment. A recent study conducted by the University of Buffalo’s Concussion Management Clinic suggests that cardio vascular exercise performed on a equipment that does not involve a lot of impact or bouncing such as a stationary bike, elliptical or treadmill can speed the recovery process. Avatar f tn t masturbate, but I have had, sex during concussion recovery and my symptoms always increase afterward, even if the sex is not strenuous. It is the movement of the head that cause such, so due to my head injury history and experience, any movements that affect movement of the head can have a negative affect on concussion symptoms and recovery.
Avatar f tn Though Asperger’s by it self will not prolong concussion, the diagnosis of concussion in Asperger’s is often overlooked and some other cause or the disease itself attributed to as a cause of symptoms post injury. Hence it is important to consult a neuro-psychiatrist. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar m tn My concussion occurred 37 days ago when I slipped and fell backwards hitting the back of my head on a turf surface. In terms of the concussion recovery, I've been working with a concussion therapist to employ the practices of slowly getting back into activities without provoking symptoms. Unfortunately, I haven't seen much progress and may even have my symptoms come on earlier. I believe that this is related to sleep and neck issues that began about 18-20 days into the recovery.

Avatar f tn Ok so I have had close to the whole chart in symptoms of a concussion 7 months post impact. I was recovering at a fairly normal pace until about 3/4 weeks into recovery when pain worse than when I had the initial headache from trauma. Keep in mind at that point I was a healthy 15 year old boy that was extremely active. Well anyway the pain that had returned from nowhere was increasing gradually for about one and a half months until the pain was so intense I had to go to the ER at 1am.
Avatar f tn Full recovery is expected from an uncomplicated concussion. But symptoms such as prolonged dizziness, memory loss, decreased mental functioning, irritability, and headaches may occur. If cold compress or over-the-counter pain medications do not help, have this checked by your doctor for proper management. Take care and best regards.

Avatar m tn My questions are related to a study about recovery PVC's that has been published in 2008 (and i also seen Dr. George D. Lundberg for teh same) and apart of the study is as says (Whereas exercise PVCs were related to the heart rate increase with exercise, recovery PVCs were related to coronary disease (previous myocardial infarction, coronary revascularization procedure, or pathological Q waves on resting electrocardiogram# and ST-segment depression).
Avatar f tn I went to a sleep study and have not heard the results yet. My question is, could this really be post concussion syndrome? does it last 3 years? my symptoms are not getting better, meaning my speech, gait, dizziness ect. Memory is bad, and getting worse. I heard you can recover from post concussion syndrome and as time goes by you get better, but I keep getting worse. I dont even want to go out of the house anymore, I used to be a social butterfly.
Avatar n tn sounds like you need to go to the dr. asap. you may have a concussion as well as other problems. an mri at the very least should give you more information. good luck and i hope you will keep us posted!
Avatar f tn It sounds like you suffered a concussion. I would not run to the hospital right away since it has been a few days but I would go see your family doctor just to get checked out. I know the balls you are talking about and I would not like to get hit in the head by one. In the meantime lay low and do not do anything strenuous, use in ice pack and some type of pain reliever for your head. You could feel this way for awhile so since you did hurt your head.
Avatar m tn I sustained a minor concussion three weeks ago, and though my logical and linguistic faculties seemed to return to normal within a couple days, I have had persistent feelings of pressure and weakness in my head, though these have markedly diminished within the past week. At present, I have recovered enough that I am able to use the computer (with the monitor at low brightness) for simple tasks like reading and writing emails.
Avatar m tn Another symptom was a mild headache when I was tired but I do not know whether this can be attributed to the hit or to me feeling overly anxious over a possible concussion. Do you think a concussion is a possibility? Any feedback would be very welcome!
Avatar m tn My 16 year old son was in a car wreck 5 1/2 days ago where he suffered a grade 2 moderate concussion. He was knocked unconscious for a short period of time & received a scalp laceration to the right side of his head . The CT scan discovered what the neurosurgeon described as a small thread size bleed. Later that day another CT scan was done & all signs of bleeding were gone & the blood had been absorbed. His stay in the hospital was for 3 days.

Avatar f tn I suffered a concussion 3 months later which caused additional neurological problems and temporary seizures but those have mostly resolved. 3 years later I have hyperreflexia, spasticity, clonus, and present babinski on my right side and I'm unable to do many activities or run. I have had an MRI of my brain and cervical spine which showed no significant changes.
Avatar n tn Anyway this happened on Feb 18th and the recovery has been very slow. Her doc put her on amitriptline and it seamed to take away the headaches. She finally went 15 days symptom free just to have a very big headache causing her to have an eye twitch on 3/18. She said the pain was an 8 on a scale from 1 - 10 and it was at the temple. The headache eventually went away but the twitch is still there. She had a CT scan on the 6th and it came out normal.
Avatar f tn I used to be an A+ only student, but lately i find it impossible to study. I would sit for hours trying to study one part of the work. It would be amazing if a doctor were able to help me, and give me solutions. I am to afraid to go to one of my local doctors, because i am very afraid of the result i might get. Please help me. I also find it difficult to think intensely about a single topic...
Avatar f tn Clinton sustained the concussion from fainting earlier in December. She had been sick for several days with the flu and had canceled a trip to Morocco where she was to officially recognize the Syrian rebels. Brain injury doctors told NBC News said that although details haven't been made public, initial reports indicate that Clinton may have developed a blood clot in her lower limbs as a result of prolonged rest and inactivity after her recent concussion.
1602878 tn?1304336016 I am also implanted with a spinal cord stimulator . Now the Doctor says I have a concussion . My neurological symptoms are getting much worse. Ringing ears, sensitive to light, nauseous , thinking causes worse headaches, hot and cold sweats, fingers go numb. My question is how long will I need to stay down and quiet? They say to have total rest both mentally and physically. I shouldn't be writing now but need some input. The answer I am getting is until the symptoms go away and stay away!
Avatar f tn I have severe swelling, got an internal stitch and three external -- but the doctor (who I was later informed was extremely rude) said I didnt have a concussion because I was awake, even though I have absolutely no recollection of any of the events. I couldn't walk, started throwing up, and when we left he said I should probably just go take some ibuprofen and have another drink to ease the pain.
