Common Questions and Answers about Concussion recovery problems

concussion

Avatar f tn Ok so I have had close to the whole chart in symptoms of a concussion 7 months post impact. I was recovering at a fairly normal pace until about 3/4 weeks into recovery when pain worse than when I had the initial headache from trauma. Keep in mind at that point I was a healthy 15 year old boy that was extremely active. Well anyway the pain that had returned from nowhere was increasing gradually for about one and a half months until the pain was so intense I had to go to the ER at 1am.
Avatar m tn Light sensitivity often (not always) indicates bleeding in the brain, which is in addition to the concussion. More bad news. You will probably have problems from neck pain about another six months down the line. Basically it's watchful waiting, but you really need an MRI and an MRA. I hope things work out alright.
Avatar m tn Again it is too early to say it is Post Concussion Syndrome. I am suffering from Post Concussion Syndrome and it is worse. Give some time to heal before you start any activities and you will be fine. Doctors didn't tell me to take rest and I returned to activities soon and on disability now. Good luck.
Avatar f tn t masturbate, but I have had, sex during concussion recovery and my symptoms always increase afterward, even if the sex is not strenuous. It is the movement of the head that cause such, so due to my head injury history and experience, any movements that affect movement of the head can have a negative affect on concussion symptoms and recovery.
Avatar m tn My concussion occurred 37 days ago when I slipped and fell backwards hitting the back of my head on a turf surface. In terms of the concussion recovery, I've been working with a concussion therapist to employ the practices of slowly getting back into activities without provoking symptoms. Unfortunately, I haven't seen much progress and may even have my symptoms come on earlier. I believe that this is related to sleep and neck issues that began about 18-20 days into the recovery.
Avatar f tn Has your doctor tested to see if a rise in blood pressure aggravates or causes the return of your concussion symptoms. Your recovery time generally depends upon this assessment. A recent study conducted by the University of Buffalo’s Concussion Management Clinic suggests that cardio vascular exercise performed on a equipment that does not involve a lot of impact or bouncing such as a stationary bike, elliptical or treadmill can speed the recovery process. One of the lead researchers Dr.

Avatar n tn Anyway this happened on Feb 18th and the recovery has been very slow. Her doc put her on amitriptline and it seamed to take away the headaches. She finally went 15 days symptom free just to have a very big headache causing her to have an eye twitch on 3/18. She said the pain was an 8 on a scale from 1 - 10 and it was at the temple. The headache eventually went away but the twitch is still there. She had a CT scan on the 6th and it came out normal.

Avatar m tn Dizziness, numbness in hands and face, trouble thinking and concentrating, memory problems and other things. One night I woke up feeling very scared and out of my mind....so I went to the ER. I explained what was going on with me and told them about the sudden symptoms. They told me I have Post-Concussion Syndrome. So here I am, almost 7 months post injury. I'm miserable.
Avatar f tn Though Asperger’s by it self will not prolong concussion, the diagnosis of concussion in Asperger’s is often overlooked and some other cause or the disease itself attributed to as a cause of symptoms post injury. Hence it is important to consult a neuro-psychiatrist. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn Full recovery is expected from an uncomplicated concussion. But symptoms such as prolonged dizziness, memory loss, decreased mental functioning, irritability, and headaches may occur. If cold compress or over-the-counter pain medications do not help, have this checked by your doctor for proper management. Take care and best regards.
Avatar f tn There is a possibility you have a subdural hematoma, as well as a concussion. Either condition could result in a lifetime of problems.
Avatar n tn I fell backwards 1 month ago, suffered a concussion, and have lost my sense of taste and smell. I have learned that this is caused by nerve damage. I am also lightheaded and my ears are somewhat plugged(ear pressure). I was wondering how long a nerve takes to heal itself, or does it? Is the dizziness a result of the injury or a seperate issue?
Avatar f tn Clinton sustained the concussion from fainting earlier in December. She had been sick for several days with the flu and had canceled a trip to Morocco where she was to officially recognize the Syrian rebels. Brain injury doctors told NBC News said that although details haven't been made public, initial reports indicate that Clinton may have developed a blood clot in her lower limbs as a result of prolonged rest and inactivity after her recent concussion.
Avatar f tn who underwent significant personality changes following a concussion that forced him to socially withdraw and stop singing. One of the problems is that head impacts can cause internal bleeding or pressure on the blood supply to the pituitary, which controls hormonal production. All that being said, the human brain is resilient, and I would never say that you will never return to normal. I would recommend you consult an endochronologist.
Avatar n tn Anyway, I hit the left side of my head on the door before the side air bags went off and suffered from a blow to the head and a slight concussion. Since that accident, I have had severe eye issues including pain behind my left eye, headaches that leave me irritable everyday, sensitivity to light, occasional blurred vision and spots. I had gone to my Opthalmolgists who diagnosed me with Optic-neuritis.
Avatar n tn Ever since the accident i have dealt with concentration problems, headaches, sleep apnea, memory problems. I am 24 yrs old and at the time of my accident 21. I hope you have better luck. i have recently been diagnosed w/ a pituitary tumor. i felt exactly how you did for such a long time. ppl act as though you are faking or being over dramatic and you try your hardest to make thru the day. Avatar f tn t hurt, it seems to me, to find a neurologist who can test for post-concussion problems. Unfortunately, this isn't easy to diagnose or find and often takes years before it might show up on a diagnostic picture, but with all this going on, might be worth a try. Another problem, though, is, don't know if there's any cure for it. If he had childhood seizure disorder, how then can you be sure the wellbutrin caused the seizure?
Avatar f tn I suffered a concussion in sept. 2012 maybe? Then again in April of 2013. Im still suffering from memory loss, focus and concentration issues, attention problems, and a constant headache. How long should or could this last?? If relevant, I'm 38.

Avatar m tn If you develop nausea, vomiting, excess sleep, severe headache, difficulty in walking and balance, tremors, seizures, vision problems, ringing in ears etc then consult a doctor immediately. These symptoms develop if there is a brain injury or bleed. Otherwise this pressure will go in a few days. However, it is important to get a medical evaluation. So please consult your doctor once. Take care!
