Avatar f tn Has your doctor tested to see if a rise in blood pressure aggravates or causes the return of your concussion symptoms. Your recovery time generally depends upon this assessment. A recent study conducted by the University of Buffalo’s Concussion Management Clinic suggests that cardio vascular exercise performed on a equipment that does not involve a lot of impact or bouncing such as a stationary bike, elliptical or treadmill can speed the recovery process. One of the lead researchers Dr.
Avatar f tn It is abundantly clear that in some cases concussions may result in seizures. That is not a "theory". It is a medical fact. It doesn't require "discussion". But not all concussions result in a seizure. There can be varying degrees of damage depending on the severity off the blow, where the impact takes place, and from resultant swelling, and if there is a delay in seeking medical attention. A "concussion" is not a "concussion".
Avatar f tn t masturbate, but I have had, sex during concussion recovery and my symptoms always increase afterward, even if the sex is not strenuous. It is the movement of the head that cause such, so due to my head injury history and experience, any movements that affect movement of the head can have a negative affect on concussion symptoms and recovery.
Avatar m tn My concussion occurred 37 days ago when I slipped and fell backwards hitting the back of my head on a turf surface. In terms of the concussion recovery, I've been working with a concussion therapist to employ the practices of slowly getting back into activities without provoking symptoms. Unfortunately, I haven't seen much progress and may even have my symptoms come on earlier. I believe that this is related to sleep and neck issues that began about 18-20 days into the recovery.
335873 tn?1264913469 Athletes heart is very different from what you are asking about. Athletes heart is confused for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. PVCs that increase during the recovery phase of exercise is associated with increased cardiac events. PVCs at rest are not known to increase the risk of events. I think this is what you mean by positive. PVCs with structurally normal hearts have a good prognosis. Ablating the PVCs may improve your symptoms if successful, but does not improve prognosis.
Avatar f tn Ok so I have had close to the whole chart in symptoms of a concussion 7 months post impact. I was recovering at a fairly normal pace until about 3/4 weeks into recovery when pain worse than when I had the initial headache from trauma. Keep in mind at that point I was a healthy 15 year old boy that was extremely active. Well anyway the pain that had returned from nowhere was increasing gradually for about one and a half months until the pain was so intense I had to go to the ER at 1am.
Avatar f tn Full recovery is expected from an uncomplicated concussion. But symptoms such as prolonged dizziness, memory loss, decreased mental functioning, irritability, and headaches may occur. If cold compress or over-the-counter pain medications do not help, have this checked by your doctor for proper management. Take care and best regards.

358486 tn?1294776388 In all of these cases hip arthroscopy has become an important tool for more rapid return of athletes to the playing field, or to extend the athletic careers of elite athletes and weekend warriors in the sports they enjoy. The benefit of hip arthroscopy is that the recovery is much simpler than for open hip surgery. Patients can usually put as much weight as tolerated on the hip immediately following surgery, although crutches or a cane may be necessary for the first several days. .
Avatar f tn Though Asperger’s by it self will not prolong concussion, the diagnosis of concussion in Asperger’s is often overlooked and some other cause or the disease itself attributed to as a cause of symptoms post injury. Hence it is important to consult a neuro-psychiatrist. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar n tn hI, I've also done triathlon. Did my first Ironman 2 years ago. I am hypothyroid - with complete thyroid failure. I can manage, though I'm currently not training cause I recently had a baby. However, have found I have slow recovery from training. This means have to build up slowly and incorporate plenty of rest and recovery - well as much as possible. I've found that natural thryoid (I take dessicated thryoid) is much better for me than just levothyroxine.
Avatar n tn sounds like you need to go to the dr. asap. you may have a concussion as well as other problems. an mri at the very least should give you more information. good luck and i hope you will keep us posted!
Avatar f tn It sounds like you suffered a concussion. I would not run to the hospital right away since it has been a few days but I would go see your family doctor just to get checked out. I know the balls you are talking about and I would not like to get hit in the head by one. In the meantime lay low and do not do anything strenuous, use in ice pack and some type of pain reliever for your head. You could feel this way for awhile so since you did hurt your head.
Avatar m tn I sustained a minor concussion three weeks ago, and though my logical and linguistic faculties seemed to return to normal within a couple days, I have had persistent feelings of pressure and weakness in my head, though these have markedly diminished within the past week. At present, I have recovered enough that I am able to use the computer (with the monitor at low brightness) for simple tasks like reading and writing emails.
251315 tn?1198196557 i Went to a neurologist and he dignosed me with Post concussion syndrom. i hit my head pretty good, 1 the whip lash (i cant remember if i hit it on anything in my car) but as i was exiting to see what he did i smacked it on the metal bar getting out and then when the paramedic arrived i was laying in my car as they got me out the car he was holding my neck up right and i smacked it again on the metal bar getting out the car again.
Avatar n tn Anyway this happened on Feb 18th and the recovery has been very slow. Her doc put her on amitriptline and it seamed to take away the headaches. She finally went 15 days symptom free just to have a very big headache causing her to have an eye twitch on 3/18. She said the pain was an 8 on a scale from 1 - 10 and it was at the temple. The headache eventually went away but the twitch is still there. She had a CT scan on the 6th and it came out normal.
Avatar m tn t remember the medical term for it) were athletes who took many shots to the head over many years and played while they had the concussion/still had concussion symptoms. AND before we knew about the seriousness of injuries to the brain. There is a reason why in sports today that people need to pass concussion protocol tests before they are allowed to return to activity. I suppose I'm trying to relate this to sports as you talked about boxing.
642877 tn?1281799282 Recently I have read how heart rate recovery is one of the best predictors of heart health. I have seen some contradictory research however on the criteria for a healthy recovery rate. The faster the heart rate drops the less likely someone is to have a heart attack. The minimum heart rate recovery per minute varies in the research from 12 up to 21. I am wondering what the accepted criteria is.
Avatar f tn Clinton sustained the concussion from fainting earlier in December. She had been sick for several days with the flu and had canceled a trip to Morocco where she was to officially recognize the Syrian rebels. Brain injury doctors told NBC News said that although details haven't been made public, initial reports indicate that Clinton may have developed a blood clot in her lower limbs as a result of prolonged rest and inactivity after her recent concussion.
