concussion

Avatar n tn Hi, I am an 18 year old male who is still suffering from the effects of multiple concussions in high school. I had one my junior year, which was not too serious, and the effects of it soon cleared up. However, the next year, I received a violent blow to the head (football again) in which my mouthpiece wasn't in correctly. I was wearing a revolution helmet, the supposedly concussion proof helmets, which cracked all the way down the side from where I got hit.
Avatar n tn Hi! About 4 months ago I bought a mouthpiece to wear at night for 2 reasons-- one, to help me breathe better, and secondly because I am a jaw clencher. I don't grind my teeth, but if I sleep in a certain position, I wake up with my lower jaw pushing outward against my upper teeth so hard that they hurt and ache for days. If I sleep in a normal position, the jaw muscles just ache with no tooth pain. The mouthpiece solved all that.
Avatar f tn He has had severe headaches every day since I haPpened and even nausea a few times since then. Just wondering if he could have a concussion and if we should get it checked out...
Avatar f tn There is no pain, just feels weird. I have been wearing a mouthpiece from dentist to keep my teeth from touching, grinding to help prevent migraines. Have any of you experienced this odd sensation of throbbing without pain?
Avatar m tn Plz can help I smoke hookah some time ago with one men with one mouthpiece can I receive him from this if he is ill?
Avatar m tn I recently stuck a dirty rubber mouthpiece in my ***. I say dirty because I didn't wash it but just cleaned it with a cloth.I didn't think of much after but my anus was just hurting and stuff. But then about 7-10 days later I got this sore throat that feels like something is stuck there. I just want to know if you can catch any disease that can cause this.
Avatar n tn Today at kaiser while I was being treated for a case of asthma, a nurse brought in the breathing machine, the one where you have to put in a liquid solution of albuterol and inhale it and she dropped the mouthpiece and washed it out then had me use it. Is that okay to do, I'm assuming it's still sterilized?
Avatar n tn The oral surgeon told me to avoid playing woodwind instruments which require biting on a hard mouthpiece (with teeth adjacent to gap, flipper removed) for 3 months because the vibration could adversely affect osseointegration. Well I’m scheduled to have a dental cleaning soon and ultrasonic scalers also use vibration (and pressurized water), though at much higher frequency.
Avatar m tn but i took this test for the state for my disability..i just rember a metal mouthpiece..and some brething,..but most of it felt lie i was brething against something was in the way.......so is this nor free brething..or do they test by the way you breath again pressure or both???
Avatar m tn I was involve in a very bad car accident 02/10 and have no memory of the actual wreck. the hospital deemed I have a severe concussion and then also diagnosed me with Post Concussion Syndrome. I am currently also experiencing back and neck problems as well as getting a collarbone checked out for a possible fracture. My question is does coffee effect concussion and PCS recovery. And how long does recovery generally take.
Avatar n tn I have a serious concussion and I have strained my trapiuses muscle... I also have osgood schlatters in one leg and I can't run with out getting dizzy due to the concussion... I really need to work out ... I have been out for a month ... Please and thank you !
Avatar f tn Loss of consciousness isn’t required for a diagnosis of concussion or post concussion syndrome. Post concussion syndrome occurs within first 7 to 10 days and until 3 months. Symptoms are variable including dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, light and noise sensitivity, headache varying from a tension type to cluster headaches. You need to consult a neurologist immediately.
Avatar f tn I am a concussion survivor. Could you get a concussion if your head stops suddenly from a fast movement? Yesterday I was in a hurry and running and pushed the door in front of me. It stopped abruptly which caused my body to stop too. Could this cause a concussion? I'm scared because I am recovering from a concussion already. Does it make me more prone to brain injury? Please, help me!

Avatar f tn I got a concussion about 3 months ago at a cheer competition when a girl fell and elbowed me in the face. I didn’t get knocked unconscious but I blacked out for 3 or 4 seconds. Immediately after my performance I went to the athletic trainer who performed an assessment and asked what my symptoms were. Immediately I had a headache, I saw halos around lights, and I felt like I was in a dream state.
Avatar m tn They blame the Valsalva maneuver and I tried that - you only feel that much pressure in your neck or head when you seriously mess up your technique or your mouthpiece is blocked.
Avatar f tn Had a concussion several weeks ago with instant headache & nausea which have gotten worse. Already had 2 CT scans without contrast, showing they were normal. The headaches and nausea are pretty bad daily, have gotten worse since the concussion. I'm now scheduled for an MRI scan, should I do it with or without contrast. Have read so many negative things about getting it with the contrast.
Avatar f tn I had a metal iron shelf fall on my head at work 4 months ago, got a concussion and ended up with post traumatic concussion syndrome. He needs to go to the doctor!!!!! He needs to have a CT or MRI to check for headbleeding then he needs to see a neurologist and let them run test!!!!! It's so important. They told me if I hit my head again I'll have permanent damage.
Avatar f tn Ok so about 7-8 months ago I suffered a concussion and was off work for quite a time I am getting back to it now. My question is can suffering a concussion cause depression and suicidal thoughts as well as self harm? Basically when I was a teenager I was suicidal and a cutter and haven't done anything like that since, until I got the concussion and a few months into the treatment etc I started cutting again and feeling suicidal.
Avatar f tn I have begged him to go back to a doctor to get his concussion checked out but he refuses. Does it sound like he needs to seek medical help for the concussion considering he never received any after-care and continued to drink on the concussion? Its been about 10 months since this happened so it is likely that he could still be suffering from the after affects of the concussion? Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn It is abundantly clear that in some cases concussions may result in seizures. That is not a "theory". It is a medical fact. It doesn't require "discussion". But not all concussions result in a seizure. There can be varying degrees of damage depending on the severity off the blow, where the impact takes place, and from resultant swelling, and if there is a delay in seeking medical attention. A "concussion" is not a "concussion".
