concussion

Avatar m tn I went to the eye doctor last year and they told me I had lattice degeneration and the doctor told me that if I get a concussion I could lose my sight but I don't believe that. I went to the doctor again in January and they told me it hasn't gotten worse. The doctors said I couldn't play basketball. I haven't ever gotten a concussion while playing basketball. Sadly, I'm the one giving concussions.
Avatar n tn My niece was playing basketball last night and was hit in the head with the ball. After that she could not open her eyelids for around 5 hours. Has anyone ever heard of this?
Avatar m tn I went to a basketball game in Scotland about 4 days ago and I got hit in the back of the head really hard. I felt a bit dizzy and sick afterwards. Now my head is starting to hurt and my vision is a bit blurry. Could I be concussed?
Avatar f tn Out headboard is about three and a half to four feet higher than our heads while we sleep. We have this rectangular block that has candles in it ( made of wood) on our headboard which she knocked off and it fell right on our heads. It weighs about 4 lbs. My boyfriend got a cut and an abrasion, plus a goose egg and a bit of bruising on his head from it. It barely got me. He has had severe headaches every day since I haPpened and even nausea a few times since then.
Avatar m tn Another symptom was a mild headache when I was tired but I do not know whether this can be attributed to the hit or to me feeling overly anxious over a possible concussion. Do you think a concussion is a possibility? Any feedback would be very welcome!
Avatar m tn Hello all, this post is in regards to my son, not me. He is 19 and has down syndrome. 12 days ago, he was doing some sprint events, got dizzy and vomited. He gets regular exercise with soccer and basketball so we didn't think much beyond it. We thought he may just be sick but since then, he's had a headache, dizziness, and fatigue for 12 days. A visit to his GP 5 days ago indicated he may have a slight ear infection so he was prescribed a z-pack, but his symptoms have gotten worse.

Avatar n tn one week after concussion my 14 week malteese turns in circles all day what can this be.
Avatar f tn It is abundantly clear that in some cases concussions may result in seizures. That is not a "theory". It is a medical fact. It doesn't require "discussion". But not all concussions result in a seizure. There can be varying degrees of damage depending on the severity off the blow, where the impact takes place, and from resultant swelling, and if there is a delay in seeking medical attention. A "concussion" is not a "concussion".
Avatar f tn I am a concussion survivor. Could you get a concussion if your head stops suddenly from a fast movement? Yesterday I was in a hurry and running and pushed the door in front of me. It stopped abruptly which caused my body to stop too. Could this cause a concussion? I'm scared because I am recovering from a concussion already. Does it make me more prone to brain injury? Please, help me!
Avatar m tn AND before we knew about the seriousness of injuries to the brain. There is a reason why in sports today that people need to pass concussion protocol tests before they are allowed to return to activity. I suppose I'm trying to relate this to sports as you talked about boxing.
Avatar f tn Sounds like you might have a concussion. A concussion is a mild brain injury caused by a knock or blow to the head or a sudden change in motion. See a doctor just in case.
Avatar f tn Hi There is a condition called post-concussion syndrome or PCS that a person may experience for weeks, months, or occasionally years after a concussion or even in moderate and severe cases of traumatic brain injury. It is seen in 38–80% of mild head injuries. A diagnosis may be made when symptoms last for more than three months after the injury, or it may be made starting within a week or ten days of trauma.

Avatar f tn My 17 year old son, who has always been very active in sports, especially football and basketball was injured two months ago when a pellet went through his chest and eventually ended up lodged in the neck area behind his right ear. Doctors say where it is lodged, it will never move and should not pose any problems at all. He spent three days in the hospital with a collapsed lung and a week out of school.
Avatar m tn When we finished our basketball game i double check if i have some scratch in my arms..when i woke up in the morning and i notice theres a small wound in my fist and i did not notice it last nigth. My imagination is killing me. It is like one of our opponet prick me with needle. 1. Do you think i need to be tested in this case? 2. if you are prick by needle while playing theres a chance that you will feel it?
Avatar m tn You could have ruptured a tendon. There are so many tendons and ligaments that can be hurt in basketball and if not addressed your basketball playing could be over if not looked at. At least have it addressed properly by a physician. You may need to get an MRI so the soft tissues can be looked at. Don't mess with it and act like it didn't happen because it can only get worse. Your Knee cap is held in place by several tendons and ligaments that are so important. Did you hear a pop?
Avatar f tn As a a positive side effect, I have also noticed that things seem to be moving in slow motion some times. In other words, I see things much quicker and my reflexes have improved. Is this normal ?
Avatar m tn A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere. In absence of these symptoms and based on the history a diagnosis of concussion is given. If concussion is severe, and there is underlying brain injury, then yes, even death can occur. Hope this helps! Take care!
Avatar m tn ) I have migraines and hypersensitive nervous system because of my PCS and my concussion was in 2003. My sisters was in 1993. One thing that has helps me is staying away from certain foods such as gluten (wheat, rye, barley), dairy, nitrates/nitrites (processed meats), msg (now call unami), high fructose corn syrup (now called corn sugar) any artificial sweetener, and certain nuts. For increasing concentration levels my sister played games such as rush hour, by binary arts.
Avatar n tn The doctor said that my peripheral retina is not so good since the WWOP and leopard fundus are found. So is it very dangerous for me to develop a tear in the future and what should I do to better protect my eyes.
Avatar m tn My doctor said the same thing, it was do to the concussion and that I would be fine. I read in one of your post that your daughter was said to have Post-Concussion Syndrome after a head injury. I do not know how long ago that was but if you looked up what the doctor was talking about like I do when my kids health is involved. You might of seen that the syndrome can sometimes last over a year in some cases. As for epilepsy, I have it.
