concussion

Avatar m tn I am 55, received MRI after concussion. Was told it was unrelated. 2 days after the concussion, my short term memory, wasn't there, I was forgetting what I was doing if distracted by any thing. Example if someone interrupted me while taking, I forgot what I was talking about. Better after 6 months, but still having some issues. Also following the concussion, I had issues walking. I walked to left, crashed into things.
Avatar m tn Does inflammation show up on an MRI and do doctors misdiagnose because of it? Like say if someone had a tramatic brain injury or a concussion, then got an MRI with contrast and wouldnt the hurt brain be on the MRI like as a bruise or something, and doctors think it may be a tumor? I only ask because I got a serious hit to the head and im wondering because they found something near my cerebellum.
Avatar f tn as i was involved in an auto accident, he seems to be concentrating on those injuries (concussion with post concussion syndrome, and cervical sprain. do these injuries cause such wide spread symptoms as i am getting? it is getting very difficult for me to walk. it feels as though i am walking through water against the current. i tried walking yesterday and it was painful. i walked for two blocks nonetheless. last nite my legs were in excruciating pain all nite long.
Avatar f tn Could it be related to the bumps on the brain. Is it normal? Should I be requesting a MRI on top of the CatScan? I know that a MRI found my lumbar problem years ago whereas the CatScan did not. Thank you for your recommendation on the neurophysican. I am not sure that my doctor understands how concerned I am...
Avatar f tn About four months back I hit my head and got a slight concussion. About two months ago I started noticing a small lump where I hit my head. The lump grew a bit bigger and a few more appeared as well. I've been getting migraines a lot and I never got them much before. The lumps don't cause pain but when I touch them I can definitly feel a lot of pressure and they are pretty hard. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn Yes, please go to the ER or neurologist and get a CT scan or MRI as the neurologist advises. There is a chance it is either concussion or a bleed in the brain. It can also be a subdural hematoma. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn thanks for your replying doctor but I,had gone threw CAT and MRI scans two times first time on the day of injury and second time after ten days from my injury and my reports were normal.
Avatar f tn So you have to experience a concussion to lose brain cells?
Avatar m tn I would like to suggest that you pursue your head injury and the concussion first. Consult a neurologist first and get an MRI scan done and visualize any collected blood and correlate clinically. The symptoms have to be checked against MRI findings and any details missed on either. Fix an appointment with the optometrist at a later date, say a wee later, if it was just for errors of refraction. Take care.

Avatar f tn I see a chiari specialist at the end of the month but in the mean time could this hitting my head on the wall possibly made things worse? (I did not have a ct for the concussion, the dr. just diagnosed me by my symptoms and what happened).
Avatar n tn Concussion is a group of symptoms following head injury. This is not why a MRI is done. MRI is done to identify if there is any traumatic brain injury, bleed etc or if there is a spinal cord injury. It is an important step in early diagnosis of head injury. Take care!
Avatar m tn m feeling a little depressed and also mood swings. Do you think this is from the concussion? And if so, if I got an MRI would it show anything?
Avatar f tn At times a subdural hematoma develops slowly and may be missed on the first MRI. Also concussion can cause persisting headaches and should be allowed to slowly subside before active sports are considered. Injury to neck, to jaw bone, and even eyes should be considered. Get his eye sight also checked. May be the headaches are because he needs spectacles. -Take care!
Avatar f tn I fell a couple of weeks ago and fell coming down the stairs in my socks on hard wood surface, I fell and hit the back of my head my Doctor thinks I have a mild concussion but I'm thinking maybe I should call my surgeon. It's a year after my surgery but the back of my head is killing me after I've fallen down some stairs and banged it pretty hard.
Avatar f tn My 12 year old son, Ben, suffered a concussion in April 2008 when he was hit with a line drive hardball in his left eye while playing baseball. The impact of the ball caused the concussion, and the shape of his pupil is now oval. I took him to a pediatric opthamologist who did a thorough exam. He said there is no lasting damage other than the shape of the pupil, but he needed glasses.
Avatar n tn I was in a MVA Sept 2007. I have a grade 3 concussion. I have now had PCS for 6 months. Dr's say i'm looking at 1 year before i recover. I have major sleep problems, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, bad balance, headaches, memory problems,no sense of smell, sensitivity to light and noise, very poor concentration. Everything is a huge effort. I try pushing myself but that only has made me so frusturated I turn into a monster!
16465326 tn?1448202692 I fell on the ice and landed squarely on the top of my head one month ago. I went to the Emergency ward, was evaluated and was let go without a CT or MRI scan. I still have a very tender spot on top of my head. Still getting headaches and a pressure sensations in my head. Is this normal as symptoms of a concussion or could this be a slow bleed one month after the fall?
Avatar f tn m still suffering from one going on 4 months now. I had a metal iron shelf fall on my head at work 4 months ago, got a concussion and ended up with post traumatic concussion syndrome. He needs to go to the doctor!!!!! He needs to have a CT or MRI to check for headbleeding then he needs to see a neurologist and let them run test!!!!! It's so important. They told me if I hit my head again I'll have permanent damage.
Avatar f tn Loss of consciousness isn’t required for a diagnosis of concussion or post concussion syndrome. Post concussion syndrome occurs within first 7 to 10 days and until 3 months. Symptoms are variable including dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, light and noise sensitivity, headache varying from a tension type to cluster headaches. You need to consult a neurologist immediately.
Avatar n tn My son did not have a CATscan or MRI. Is 2 months considered excessive? My son did have a mild concussion this past fall as well.
Avatar f tn Could this all be related to her concussion? I have yet to convince a dr to do an MRI even though her migraines have become intense and she is having memory and cognitive issues. Thoughts??
Avatar f tn My teenager has been experiencing a heightened sense of smell for several months now. It is having a very negative effect on their quality of life as they can't eat many foods he used to, can't be in the same room as a smoker because the residual odor on their clothing, etc. They also suffers from post-concussive syndrome include severe sleep disruption, and this symptom seems to have started around the time of the concussion.
Avatar m tn 10 days ago I suffered a concussion due to a fall after fainting. We don't know how long I was unconscious (I was alone), but it was no more than 10-15 minutes. I was unable to remember anything regarding the actual injury (i.e. where I hit the back of my head) or my trip to the hospital and the ER until about an hour before I was discharged. I 'lost" about 3 hours in total.
