Avatar m tn And maybe the second round of tests for the inner ear may help detect the cause for your symptoms. Regards.
Avatar f tn I feel so out of it and dream like. I went to the e.r they said it was an inner ear infection. They gave me medicine and it helped. Then I went to a neurologist and he said it was post concussion syndrome. Then I went to another neurologist and he said it was my ears. So I went to physical therapy and he said it wasn't my ears. I'm so confused now. Can someone please help??:( any suggestions on what it is? Or is it pcs?
Avatar f tn You can consult a Neuro-Otologist and Neurologist and see if you have any inner ear issues. Reason for dizziness can be very many. Get an MRI done to be safe.
Avatar f tn It hurts on the right side of my neck too and around my ear area, but this is on the right side not the left where i got hit. I've been trying to figure out what might be wrong or if it's just an allergy headache that i get everyday. I havent been to the doc yet, not sure if its serious enough.. Any suggestions on what might be going on?
Avatar m tn I'm happy to try and be of help, jangosaroj. "To my greater surprise, performing the same exercise once again, made me feel better." Maybe something in the neck moves out of place, then back into place again. Moving back and forth like that can explain how the symptoms come and go. You might end up visiting a chiropractor. Be aware that there are "red flag" problems where it is very dangerous for them to work on the neck.
Avatar f tn He has ordered a MRV/MRA. He said it most probably is from my head trauma/inner ear concussion but i may be starting to develop meniere's type changes in my ear. I hope it's just the concussion. I really hope it just takes time and I get back to normal. You never know how good you had it until you can't do all the things you took for granted. If I do get back to normal I don't think I'll ever take them for granted again.
Avatar m tn the first day after a few hours of sleep i woke up with a plugged left ear feeling and a slight numbness on the left side of my face and the inability to focus i was dazed, on day 2 the inability to focus remains and i noticed that while walking and looking around my eyes un-focus and i get dizzy and nauseous for a few seconds and then i go back to normal all while still being kind of dazed and unfocused. is that normal? are those symptoms of concussion? will they go away alone with time?
Avatar n tn I got dizzy and my neck hurt a little now but nothing serious, and I suspect the dizziness might come from my obsessive worrying of concussions and maybe due to the inner middle ear getting shaken around or something? This just really bothers me, can the brain really crash into the skull by a simple movement from the body a.ka. the neck? I heard that rotational concussions are the worst :( Thanks in advance!
Avatar m tn This could possibly be a factor. Have his ears checked. He could be suffering from fluid in his ears, which could cause many symptoms. Did anything happen during his trip? Did something set him off? Will he answer you honestly? I have ADD, have had several concussions over the years, and also suffer with Meniere's Disease ( inner ear thing )...I get the worst "jet lag" in the world when I even go over the mountains in a car. Any change in altitude sets me off...
Avatar n tn However, if it’s not the case, you should consult a gastroenterologist and may be you need an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy to find out if there’s any pathology in the food pipe/stomach and an Ultrasound of the abdomen especially to rule out a disease of the gall bladder. As you suffering from some headache also,it’s important to rule out a disease of the brain causing the nausea. The nausea and headache can also be related to the concussion that you have suffered.
Avatar m tn It is important to be evaluated by an ENT to exclude inner ear damage as a result of the trauma; tests can be done to ensure that the nerve at the base of the skull goes to the ear is not dysfunctional, as this can lead to vertigo (room-spinning). For post-concussion fatigue, there are a few treatment options including stimulants, antidepressants, anxiolytics, and others depending on the associated symptoms.
20856774 tn?1638158155 t become disruptive yet, but I ask because I wonder if it is issue with my inner ear. Do you think the ear-pain and nauses are related? Am I stupid? I already experience mild head-spinning when I lay down in the dark (though it's not every night). The nausea goes away on its own, but tonight it was so strong I thought for sure I was going to vomit. I felt disgustingly hot and rattled. Do any stomach experts here have better theories?
Avatar f tn I have been having a great deal of head pressure in the back, side and top of my head ever since a sinus infection 2 months ago. I had 2 full weeks of antibiotics, and my headaches left for a short time, but a sensation of fullness stayed in my left ear. This has caused me to feel off balance, and foggy headed, like I may pass out at times. I just had an MRI and CT of the sinuses that says I have mild mucosal thickening of the sphenoid sinuses and a mild septal deviation.
Avatar m tn Vandy said I only had a 6% weakness in my left ear, but that one of the bones in my canal was thin and that I was sensitive to certain pitches in sound. Still, no clear picture of my problem. So, in an effort to help, my Vandy doc sent me back to UT for 3 months of continuous Vestibular Therapy. Given a free reign and the rare order to treat me for 3 months, my therapist determined that moving my head up & down seemed to be the motion that made me the most sick.
Avatar f tn It may involve more than just your inner ear. I hope for your sake, your injury does not cause you any degree of disability or to require extended hospital care. Having said this, deep inside, I feel you won't do anything as you posted, despite the seriousness of your situation and you're hoping that it is a self- limiting injury and everything will return to normal soon! IDK.
Avatar n tn These are ENT doctors with years of extra training in the inner ear (dizziness, hearing loss, etc.) Ask your ENT if they've had a fellowship or certificate in neuro-otology. If not, look for a doctor who has. Check out the membership lists of the American Neurotology Society (you can Google it). Another type of specialist--but one that's hard to find--is an otoneurologist.
Avatar f tn I was in a car accident 7 months ago, and it was pretty bad. I ran my car head on into a tree and I got pretty banged up. I went to the doctors the following day, and sure enough, I had a pretty severe concussion. I've had concussions before, the worst caused me to miss 4 months of schooling, that was roughly 5 years ago. Now, I get nauseous at random times. Most of the time when I ride in a vehicle or drive anywhere (not all of the time though), and when I lay down to go to bed.
Avatar m tn The first day when i had Injury went to urgent care. they did concussion test( eye moving, ear, eye moving and dental) . in ER also they did same thing.
Avatar n tn It can, but it is not the main cause. Most of the causes are related to inner ear problems, or the cerebellum.
Avatar f tn Hypothyroidism is one of the many causes of tinnitus; the listed reason in medical textbooks is due to inner ear pressure. There are many other reasons for tinnitus and, off the top of my head, the conditions that hypothyroidism can cause that are also listed causes of tinnitus include excessive ear wax, vitamin B12 deficiency, anaemia, high blood pressure, TMJ dysfunction, allergies.
Avatar n tn what are some of the medical conditions that cause the eyes to see flashing lights
Avatar f tn I have contusion and concussion. I know when inflammation is coming on in my head or that it feels like it. I was told to take only "Tylenol" for inflammation of the head and Ibuprofen for Inflammation in the body, as told by my physician. And in minutes it seems to improve. and I know that after physical work such as lifting or ironing, lately I get nausea and dizziness as the result. Be careful.
Avatar f tn That can be a sign that you could have a ruptured eardrum. The dizziness you also had could of been caused by the ear as well. The concussion could be what has caused all of these issues. Of course I am not a doctor and this is only my 2 cents worth. When you go see a doctor they normally look in your ears and will be able to tell you it that is what it could be. I wish you well on all of your medical needs.
Avatar m tn But what is the techinical reason? And more to the point, why is it so rapid? The inner ear and cochlea is sealed from air. If the cochlea can be punctured due to some loud soud or other reasons, air molecules will penetrate into the inner ear. The inner ear contains about 100 hair cells, each them having aroudn 10 hairs, making it a total of around 10 000 hairs. But those hairs are unlike the ones on top of our head.
Avatar n tn After concussion or impact such kind of symptoms like loss of smell or taste and other symptoms may be common due to extent of damaged part of brain and may remain symptomatic or progress in future. Although any sure success cure can not be assured in such cases, but symptomatic relief or it may decrease with period of time, physiotherapy, avoiding any triggering factors and life style modification help you in certain extent.
Avatar m tn Within the inner ear is the vestibular organ, in which there are tiny hair and a fluid that sloshes around. The impact of the fluid of the hairs is what determines whether or not we feel "level". "Rubbernecking" disturbs this organ. The degree of disturbance depends upon the sensitivity of the hairs. Moving the head while an airplane is in a turn will cause loss of balance.
