Common Questions and Answers about Concussion of retina

concussion

1614777 tn?1298483489 This produces an image of the vitreous and retina, sometimes white spots against black or vice versa and sometimes red hues too. This is normal. Rarely this is due to inflammation. Most floaters never completely disappear. There is no medicine or eye drop that can really cure this. Please consult an eye specialist (take a second opinion) for this. Take care!
Avatar f tn If you want to push with with local eye exam see an ophthalmologist that specializes in retina and vitreous.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 6 and is special needs, she took a tumble at school resulting in a concussion, she was diagnosis shortly there after with Amblyopia, could her fall cause this condition or is it just one of those things that happens ? Thank you !
Avatar m tn I went to the eye doctor last year and they told me I had lattice degeneration and the doctor told me that if I get a concussion I could lose my sight but I don't believe that. I went to the doctor again in January and they told me it hasn't gotten worse. The doctors said I couldn't play basketball. I haven't ever gotten a concussion while playing basketball. Sadly, I'm the one giving concussions.
Avatar m tn I suffered a concussion about 3 weeks ago. I had a CT scan that came back normal. At this point, all of my symptoms are pretty much resolved. My only issue is that my right eye has more floaters than usual and it has an abnormal "heavy" feeling compared to my left. There aren't visual changes (other than the floaters) and I'm not feeling any pain. Just a general and constant feeling of heaviness in my right eye/eye lid, which is not noticeable upon looking at my face.
Avatar m tn Since that time I have visited another retina specialist, reportedly the top one in Greece, who again carried out a dilated eye exam and found nothing wrong with the retina of both eye. He did see the small detachment spot near the fundus of my right eye and told me "Don't know what caused it and don't care - it's there now, forget about it and only come back if you see any changes.
Avatar f tn Optometrists training is not equivalent. Without worsening of floaters, development of flashes or loss of field of vision or family history of RD, risk is low but need to be examined to reassure you completely.
Avatar m tn I had laser surgery 2 days ago to correct a small tear in my retina of my right eye. The retina specialist gave me what I believe to be the numbing drops no more than 2-3 minutes before he started the procedure. During the procedure I could feel very uncomfortable stinging in the back of my eye along with the pressure from him holding the lense in my eyey. I was also seeing very bright Red, White and I belive Green lights when he used the laser.
Avatar f tn I had a car accident five months ago in which i received several injuries including a concussion which caused my right pupil to become musch smaller than my left, immedietly after the accident I complained of pain and visual disturbance and my eye was watering almost constantly for a few weeks. I saw an ophthalmologist seven weeks after my accident who said that I had scarring on my retina that she believed to be old and not related to the accident she said the pain was probably neurological.
Avatar f tn I realize this is very vague but perhaps you have some general information regarding my question. On two different occasions, with two different ophthalmologists, my husband was told he had a "scar on his eye." Each time the question of head trauma came up (he did fall from a height of about twenty feet years ago, resulting in an undiagnosed concussion -- he experienced nausea and vomiting for several days post-injury -- and back problems).
Avatar n tn How often they occur depends on how much traction the vitreous in the back of the eye is putting on the retina. An infrequent flash is much less worrisome than very frequent flashes especially flashes that occur in daylight and without eye movement.
Avatar f tn My left eye is as good as a normal eye but PVD at this age is making me worried a lot, especially because of poor right eye. It has been more than 6 months and five visit to Retina specialist (including one today) confirmed no RT or RD and retina is stable in both eyes. How long for shall I keep visiting the doctor? I am having lots of floaters, sort of creates cloudy cobweb effects. Will they settle down somewhat?
Avatar f tn I am a concussion survivor. Could you get a concussion if your head stops suddenly from a fast movement? Yesterday I was in a hurry and running and pushed the door in front of me. It stopped abruptly which caused my body to stop too. Could this cause a concussion? I'm scared because I am recovering from a concussion already. Does it make me more prone to brain injury? Please, help me!
Avatar m tn It impacts the liver, kidneys, every body part .... and yes, the brain of course. Concussion is when some action causes the brain itself to move and impact the inside of the skull. It can be a passive injury that causes no more than a headache ... or it can be very much worse by affecting motor skills and pupil dialation, even speech patterns. Concussion may appear like intoxication but any good doctor would be able to know the difference by just doing a blood test!
Avatar f tn It is abundantly clear that in some cases concussions may result in seizures. That is not a "theory". It is a medical fact. It doesn't require "discussion". But not all concussions result in a seizure. There can be varying degrees of damage depending on the severity off the blow, where the impact takes place, and from resultant swelling, and if there is a delay in seeking medical attention. A "concussion" is not a "concussion".
Avatar m tn If so depending on the severity it can take quite a while to recover. It is variable depending on the depth of the damage to the head and the person. I hope you have seen a doctor if not you need to do so.
Avatar m tn My concussion occurred 37 days ago when I slipped and fell backwards hitting the back of my head on a turf surface. In terms of the concussion recovery, I've been working with a concussion therapist to employ the practices of slowly getting back into activities without provoking symptoms. Unfortunately, I haven't seen much progress and may even have my symptoms come on earlier. I believe that this is related to sleep and neck issues that began about 18-20 days into the recovery.
Avatar f tn The next day it wasnt bothering me too bad so I didnt go to the doctor to see if i did have a concussion. Well ever since that weekend, i have pressure headaches on the right side of my head. It hurts on the right side of my neck too and around my ear area, but this is on the right side not the left where i got hit. I've been trying to figure out what might be wrong or if it's just an allergy headache that i get everyday. I havent been to the doc yet, not sure if its serious enough..
Avatar f tn Light sensitivity, trouble focusing at near, difficulty concentrating, blurred vision are part of the post concussion syndrome. Not every person has every symptom and not every clears at the same rate. If you need glasses for distance generally you are myopic or nearsighted. That is not due to concussion. You should be seen by an Eye MD ophthalmologist for a medical eye exam.
Avatar f tn I had a very bad fall 2 weeks ago, hitting my head very, very hard on window sill. I had a CT & the diagnosis was a concussion but for the past 4 days I have the feeling I cannot get enough air & like I want to yawn but can't. Has anyone had this problem? It's only been since the concussion. No chest pain.
Avatar m tn Unresolved within a limited window, such swelling can lead to the death of brain cells and parts of the brain such as the pituitary and hypothalamus. The time to death of the cells is referred to as the warm ischemic time. There is no evidence whatsoever that a concussion will make anyone smarter. There may or may not be a degradtion in your cognition, memory and reasoning. The human brain is very resilient.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if there is another condition that had similar symptoms to post concussion syndrome. I have all of the most commonCommon coldsymptoms such as fatigue, nausea, migrains, mood swings, difficulty concentrating and remembering, but I also loss blocks of time, I pass out, and often experience some numbnessNumbness and tinglingon one side of my body. Could I have something other than Post Concussion Syndrome, and if so what?
Avatar f tn It is NOT a retina tear, it is not a retina tear. You need to see an eye MD ophthalmologist ask your MD family doc to refer you or go to www.geteyesmart.
Avatar n tn the ERG is used to detect abnormalities of the retina due to diseases of he retina or other systemic ailments that affect the retina. Some examples include RP, cone dystrophy, Usher's syndrome. The list is rather long. I have no idea what a MECG is. Maybe related to an ECG?
Avatar m tn m wondering if my condition is reversable. If the atlas is what was knocked out of place during my concussion, is there a way to make it permanently stay in place? My meds cause me to be tired and distant from freinds and wondering if I'm going to be stuck with this the rest of my life is really starting to wear on me. If the atlas is not the soloution is there any way to reverse a concussion at all?
Avatar n tn A few years ago I was attacked and had a concussion, and i then received no treatment and was suspended from school when I was attacked for no reason. A few minutes after the fight my right eye started hurting severely. I walked home to my house and puked on the walk home. I took napoxen and iced my eye but for a few days i could not move my right eye or it would cause severe pain.. After a few days the pain stopped and it seemed everything was fine again.
