I suffered a concussion 4 months ago when I fell during a parade with my high school band. My mom took me to the ER and I was diagnosed with a concussion. I had a CT scan and nothing was out of the ordinary, and it seemed to just be a mild concussion.
4 months later, I'm still having issues. I'm a junior in high school and concentration and memory issues made me switch out of all of my honors classes into regular ones and drop both math and science completely.
A concussion can last for weeks after the head injury. The symptoms too vary from person to person. Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere.
Last friday I suffered a concussion as a result of being stupid (falling over when I went to plop into bed and hit the wall). I hit the top of my head on the wall and hard! I did not pass out however. My doctor said I have a concussion. Anyway, a few years back I had a sub occiptial decompression laminectomy c1 as a result of Arnold Chiari Malformation.
I read in one of your post that your daughter was said to have Post-Concussion Syndrome after a head injury. I do not know how long ago that was but if you looked up what the doctor was talking about like I do when my kids health is involved. You might of seen that the syndrome can sometimes last over a year in some cases.
As for epilepsy, I have it.
G'day. I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right area-don't know where else to put it. I've had a concussion for about 9 days now with "usual, mild-average" symptoms. The last couple days have been like the first couple days, cannot rest my head at night from the pain, taking two 650 mg Tylenols when I think of it, also seem more confused & forgetful (before major loss of sleep). The last 48 hrs. I've slept for 40 min's.
Last night, my boyfriends mom got into an argument with my mom and step dad. I sided with my boyfriends mom because she was right. My step dad was acting crazy but I got in his face and yelled at him because he was trying to deny the fact that my mom is a drug addict. Well he grabbed me hard, threw me to the ground, threw me into the fence and on the ground again.
I had a concussion a little over 2 weeks ago, and I had the typical signs afterwards..headache, nausea, tiredness, etc. I thought I was feeling a little bit better but then it just got worse and worse. Now I can't concentrate or focus (I'm a college student and 50 minute lectures were no problem for me, but now after 10 minutes my mind is gone..and that's extremely problematic).
It is not possible to predict what happens after concussion. Most likely it is a concussion but you may never know.
If MRI picks up anything it may be fixed at early stage (like CSF leaks, minute bleeding etc.,). I personally know some one who CSF leak after they had a mild concussion and suffered. Finally she went to John Hopkins where they fixed and she is doing excellent now.
As rumpled suggests go to doctor as soon as you can.

He has had 3 CT scans in that time. The last concussion was almost two weeks ago. He still has headaches and some fogginess. How worried should we be about long-term damage? When will the headaches go away?
Had a concussion several weeks ago with instant headache & nausea which have gotten worse. Already had 2 CT scans without contrast, showing they were normal. The headaches and nausea are pretty bad daily, have gotten worse since the concussion.
I'm now scheduled for an MRI scan, should I do it with or without contrast. Have read so many negative things about getting it with the contrast.
I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced severe light sensitivity this long after a concussion and what their diagnosis was or what they did to stop it.

symptoms of a concussion can last days, weeks or longer....you never know. and these symptoms you are experiencing now could go away and you could end up with diff symptoms some time after. Im not a doctor but am speaking through experience. what meds did they prescribe you?
I fell backwards 1 month ago,suffered a concussion, and have lost my sense of taste and smell. I have learned that this is caused by nerve damage. I am also lightheaded and my ears are somewhat plugged(ear pressure). I was wondering how long a nerve takes to heal itself, or does it? Is the dizziness a result of the injury or a seperate issue?

I have read that internal brain bleeding can occur as long as 6 or 7 weeks after a hard blow on the head,and by the time you have the symptoms of it, it has progressed to the point of being dangerous and needing possible surgery.

My 16 year old son was in a car wreck 5 1/2 days ago where he suffered a grade 2 moderate concussion. He was knocked unconscious for a short period of time & received a scalp laceration to the right side of his head . The CT scan discovered what the neurosurgeon described as a small thread size bleed. Later that day another CT scan was done & all signs of bleeding were gone & the blood had been absorbed. His stay in the hospital was for 3 days.
Usually, such headaches and dizziness may result due to post-concussion syndrome and may last for weeks or months after the injury that caused from the injury of a fall, vehicle accident, or sports injury. In addition, patient may experience either migraine type or tension type headache. For treatment approach, first it is essential to get (MRI) done to detect the brain abnormalities after that injury.
