concussion

Avatar n tn what does it mean when you slip and fall and hit your head off the floor and now you are having shooting pain throughout your head, neck, and jaw. And also you are very dizzy and shaking?
Avatar f tn I was in a collision with another person in april 2010 i had a concussion and bruised jaw and have been going to the chiropractor ever since. my concern is that i still have jaw pain that extends from my temple through my ears and into my jaw. i get headaches occasionally and sometimes have pain when i open my mouth too far...what to do?
Avatar m tn If you have pain persisting in temple area and get pain on opening your mouth wide, you are probably suffering from TMJ or temporomandibular joint disorder due to the injury. In this your jaw joint is inflamed and causes pain in temple area with dizziness. To get some relief you can try massaging the sore muscles. You have to press on muscles of your face to look for sore points. Then massage these points with short strokes.
Avatar n tn If she had a concussion she would have nausea and be feeling tired, if she has fractured her jaw there will be considerable pain and some swelling, also the passing out should be looked into, had she eaten before mass? . 435918 tn?1204737341 m kind of fed up and tired of feeling this way... headache, fatigue, jaw pain, etc. I am supposed to see a neurologist on 3/13, but the girl in his office said not to tell him I had been involved in a MVA because he won't see me if he knows. I just don't know where to go from here. I've never been hurt in a MVA before and just feel like I'm getting the "run around" from everyone. Do you have any suggestions for me? I sure would appreciate some advice. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Saturday night I was going to a friends house in Long Island and it had just snowed but it was then raining at the moment. I was walking down a ramp of the house and I slid down flat on my behind and banged the back of my head on the wooden ramp. The center of the back of my head hurts if you touch it but there is no lump there which I find unusual. The crazy part is that my front and back of the neck feels stiff as well as my jaw. It hurts so much even if I sneeze.
Avatar m tn My boyfriend shifted positions in bed last night and his arm forcefully collided with my jaw/chin. It really hurt my jaw initially and it still feels pretty tense with a dull ache on that side about an hour later. I have tmj and that's the side of my jaw that pops in place the most so that of course doesn't help. However, I know habe a headache on that side of my head. Should I be concerned that the blow Could be given me a Concussion?
Avatar f tn Hi, How are you? I agree with Marilee that you need to have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation and to rule out secondary headaches. Other differentials include: temporal arteritis and TMJ headaches. Temporal Arteritis presents with a boring, burning, or jabbing pain caused by inflammation of the temporal arteries. This usually presents with pain, often around ear.
Avatar n tn In the last 3 years I have been getting sevre headaches and they stem from the base of my skull. I have tried over the counter pain meds and chiropratic but nothing works. The headaches have gotten a lot more sevre in the last month. I went to my family Dr and he ordered a CT scan and a MRI. I did my CT scan on Saturday and the Dr called to say that there is bruising on my brain but it is not near the pain at the base of my skull.
Avatar f tn Hello my 11 year old son suffered a gr.2 concussion during a hockey game. He had a MRI which showed the brain was fine but after 3 months he still hasn't gone one day without getting a headache. He is itching to run around and play. Can he run, jump, ride a bike even if he is still getting headaches or should he do no physical activity even after 3 months? We're trying physio. now to see of it helps.
Avatar n tn yes he should go 2 the hospital i suffered a severe blow 2 head a couple of years ago & numbness 2 the hands was one of my 1st indicators that something was very wrong , your brother doesnt sound as serious but should really be checked out. good luck hope all turns out well.
Avatar m tn t remember the medical term for it) were athletes who took many shots to the head over many years and played while they had the concussion/still had concussion symptoms. AND before we knew about the seriousness of injuries to the brain. There is a reason why in sports today that people need to pass concussion protocol tests before they are allowed to return to activity. I suppose I'm trying to relate this to sports as you talked about boxing.
Avatar f tn What exactly is a subconcussive impact? After getting an elbow to the jaw by my nephew (while 20weks pregnant) I became very anxious about concussions. Either because of hormones or a concussion... my anxiety went into overdrive. To help convince myself it wasn't a big deal, I kept hitting my jaw (like 5 knocks) in that same place with my knuckles throughout the day. Ridiculous I know. I did this for a couple of weeks-multiple times a day. I got a migraine with Aura and stopped.

Avatar f tn I do not remember going back into the house or anything. The next day when I woke up my jaw hut and my eye on the side I hit my head was so red it looked as if someone had painte it blood red. But I could see. I drove my self tpo the emergency room because I am and was unemployed. CAT ws done and appeared to be fine, but.... my depth perception is off and if I am exhausted I stutter, and ( I know this will sound really odd) when I am reading I know the words but I do not.
1524559 tn?1291410896 I have suffered from severe chest pains, tender points, pain up my right side of my neck, right jaw, fingers, my toes feel like they will snap off sometimes, the edge of chairs hurt the back of my legs and now I have been waking up at night with severe leg cramps & toe cramps. In addition, I have noticed in the last three weeks or so my left eye has been twitching often and these past few days, throughout the entire day. Are these truly all Fibromyalgia related?
1427258 tn?1282925864 I have and continue to have loss of facial muscle expression on my whole face, Pain in the L side of my head, pain behind both eyes with pressure and swelling, more pressure if I get upset, constant headaches, numbness to the L side of my face that comes and goes, pain that radiates to the mastoid bone, upper and lower L jaw and then down my neck. My eyes are swollen, the whites are blood shot. I look like a completely different person. I have a disc pressing into my spinal cord in c5-6.
Avatar n tn My son was hit to jaw and lip and now his eyelids are black...should I be concerned that it is a head injury.
Avatar f tn Alright so I woke up today and found that I have sore spot or soft spot on my head. If you touch it, it hurts. My health history is pretty complicated. I have Psoriasis, TMJ, an out of aligned jaw (I'm getting corrective jaw surgery soon for it), a very minor case of arthritis (it's off and on), and some other more minor issues. I've also had off and on (more on than off) headaches the last couple of months.
Avatar m tn I hope you are beginning to feel better. Are you seeing a Neurologist now or what type of MD is following you for your concussion (closed head injury)? Normally, they do not recommend that you exercise after such an injury, but rather rest, so I would suggest that you lay off the gym for a while or check with your MD to see if it's OK but also let him/her know that you are still having these headaches and feeling sluggish.
Avatar n tn m a 54 year old woman in good health and a week ago I also fell on the ice playing hockey and had a big egg on the back (slightly right) of my head. I got a concussion and quickly developed pain in my neck lymphs running down both sides in the front and back of my neck and swelling under my chin. I've treated the concussion for a week with homeopathic Arnica, Nat-sulph and some Hypericum and it's doing well, the bump is gone, and there is just a little bruised feeling.
Avatar f tn My head hurt for a few minutes after that, but then the pain mostly went away. I kept practicing and I still felt pretty good, just a very slight head pain. Today, I was volunteering for something and I had to stand up for hours with only a few breaks, and I got a small pain in my head/eyes and I slept for a few hours afterwards. Do I have a slight concussion? Should I go to the doctor?
Avatar m tn 'm a 27 year old male and I hit the back of my head on the wall over a month ago. I hit it twice in a row out of anger, and afterward I experienced neck/head ache as well as extreme tiredness. I went to the ER 4 days later after symptoms were still present and they said I had a concussion. They performed a CT scan and said everything was FINE! I was relieved to hear this.
