1983058 tn?1527442254 We got him there within 2 hours and it was determined that he suffered a concussion. When it first happened, he did lose Consciousness for approximately one minute or so. On the way to to hospital he did regain Consciousness and was moving all of his extremities. He never had a seizure and did respond to his name. He then began to vomit and had respirations that were rapid and a bit labored. The doctor determined by x-ray that he did aspirate.
Avatar f tn Had a concussion several weeks ago with instant headache & nausea which have gotten worse. Already had 2 CT scans without contrast, showing they were normal. The headaches and nausea are pretty bad daily, have gotten worse since the concussion. I'm now scheduled for an MRI scan, should I do it with or without contrast. Have read so many negative things about getting it with the contrast.
Avatar f tn After getting hit on the head, you can certainly have a concussion. There are multiple grading scales for concussion. The American Academy of Neurology scale is graded on a scale of 1 to 3, where grade 3 has any loss of consciousness. Grade 2 is with any symptoms lasting more than 15 minutes. If there is any loss of consciousness or alteration in mentation or neurological deficit, labeling the injury as traumatic brain injury would also be appropriate.
Avatar m tn Can a person who is concussed and reports no LOC actually be experiencing a LOC at that time? I was concussed and was diagnosed with a Moderate Concussion in the ER and have no recollection of anything during that time. Is all this possible?
Avatar f tn Thanks! I'll take a look at that website!
Avatar f tn Usually, such headaches and dizziness may result due to post-concussion syndrome and may last for weeks or months after the injury that caused from the injury of a fall, vehicle accident, or sports injury. In addition, patient may experience either migraine type or tension type headache. For treatment approach, first it is essential to get (MRI) done to detect the brain abnormalities after that injury.
Avatar m tn Were you diagnosed with a concussion? When you went back to the ER did they do a concussion test?
Avatar n tn my son had similar head jerking after concussion 2 years ago. He also had another concussion recently w/ constant head pain. We tried chiro,PT(exercise+stretching), meds and he got worse. missed 1xmonth of school. I found a PT who combines cranial-sacral/soft tissue and other standard PT regimens(she had training for concussion injuries) and he improved w/ each visit.
Avatar m tn I'm in highschool and during soccer i got a concussion, the doctors said my brain was fine in a cat scan but ever since I have had chronic migraines and headaches for a year now. I saw a neurologist and am on amitriptyline and zolmitriptan. It has reduced my headaches from everyday to four times a week and my migraines from twice a week to once a month. i found that also pushing myself through physical exercise helps too. I still cannot attend school though and am homeschooled as a result.
Avatar f tn She was pretty much dead when we got her to the vet. However, they saved her. Day 13 she walks in circles and paces. She sometimes knows her name and is now coming to me sometimes when I say her name. Has anyone had this happen to their dog? Does anyone know how long it takes for her to get back to normal. The life in her is in there somewhere, we just don't see it yet. I'm worried we may never. The Vet says to give it time.
Avatar m tn Hm, I'd talk to your doctor. Is the insomnia still going on? One of the best things for insomnia after head injury is CBT or cognitive behavioral therapy. Basically paying really close attention to your sleep hygiene and things you do before bed. Limit caffeine is a no brainer (sorry for pun) and making sure not to do activating things leading up to bed as well. Use of marijuana is really such that there is limited information no matter if it is all the rage or not.
Avatar f tn Hi I am sixteen and was just diagnosed with chiari after receiving a concussion. After lifting a chair, I started shaking all throughout my body and it became hard to walk. It's almost three days since that happened and my hands are still shaking. This has happened once before but went away that day. Im not sure as to what this means and I can't tell if it is anxiety or chiari progression. Advice would be appreciated greatly!

Avatar f tn Probably you had a concussion and having Post Concussion effects. You can consult a Neuro-Otologist and Neurologist and see if you have any inner ear issues. Reason for dizziness can be very many. Get an MRI done to be safe.
Avatar m tn But your information and the information from the links you gave me helped me out on things I was confused with. If time and a bit of hope maybe her eyes will go back to normally. If not I'll make life for her easy and enjoyable as much as possible.
Avatar f tn It is a good sign that it is improving but it would probably be best to have a doctor check it out. This has some information that you could discuss with a doctor: http://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar n tn sounds like you need to go to the dr. asap. you may have a concussion as well as other problems. an mri at the very least should give you more information. good luck and i hope you will keep us posted!
Avatar m tn I got a concussion about a month ago during a dance performance and, while I no longer feel like there is a veil over my world, I am now experiencing headaches that feel like sinus headaches running from the base of my skull up over the right side of my head and down into my right eye/nose. Just 30 minutes ago, I felt the back of my neck burning, smelled the aroma of rubbing alcohol intensely in my nostrils and felt like I might throw up or pass out.
Avatar n tn I was hit from behind when playing ball hockey and I suffered a concussion after I went head first into the goalie. I had a cat scan done and it was normal immediately after the hit. Its been 11 months and everytime I try a light exercise for example walking around the block for about 20 minutes I get headaches. I used to swim, jog and play sports regularly and now since the accident I have gained a lot weight and don't know what to do to stay active.
Avatar f tn I also read concussion related articles from sites like CognitiveFx, but the information from there just fear mongering me because it would say stuff like "even minor concussions can cause long term memory loss", which really scared me.
Avatar n tn She then attempted to vomit unsuccesfully many times before fading in and out of concsiousness. Is that concussion or is it more serious?? she went to hospital i dont really know her but i want to know if she is ok!
Avatar m tn My concussion occurred 37 days ago when I slipped and fell backwards hitting the back of my head on a turf surface. In terms of the concussion recovery, I've been working with a concussion therapist to employ the practices of slowly getting back into activities without provoking symptoms. Unfortunately, I haven't seen much progress and may even have my symptoms come on earlier. I believe that this is related to sleep and neck issues that began about 18-20 days into the recovery.
Avatar n tn Primary care physician feels that he is suffering from post concussion syndrome. Has referred us to a neurologist. Can you tell me if the way his brain is taking in the information from one constricted pupil and one blown pupil could be causing headaches and making him feel out of sorts? Alternatively, could it be because his pupil is continuing to "try" to constrict?
