Avatar m tn Troy aikman, Jim nantz (Former QBs, now announce in the nfl). **** Butkus (former nfl player who used the terrible helmets! Now in his 70s on nfl countdown). Chanel sonnen (former ufc fighter, now broadcaster) I really could go on and on. But these are people who took blows to the head for years upon years before we really knew about the how serious head trauma is.
Avatar f tn There is currently a serious issue with respect to football players and concussions in the NFL and their symptoms closely mirror what you indicate. Head bounces from a soccer ball can cause skull bone issues especially for younger individuals. For all of you parents reading this post, make sure your children avoid similar manuvers with a soccer ball. The weight of the ball multiplied by the speed of the hit on the head can cause serious injuries for children.

Avatar m tn First I want to say Hello and to Thank anyone who replies. I have no idea on how to inform my son that his dreams and hard work has been, from now on anyway, is fruitless. How do you tell your 14 year old son that he will no longer be able to play his favorite sport? My son was diagnosed as a incidental finding of an 8mm Chiari malformation type 1. This was a routine MRI, so we thought, after a concussion. There are only three things this child cares about.
Avatar m tn Right, I know the pressure buildup wasn't CTE, but rather the concussion symptom. My worry is that I will develop alzheimer, dementia, or a level of CTE earlier than those who did not play a sport like American football. I respectfully disagree that playing high school football will not increase your chances of incurring brain damage. https://www.bu.edu/cte/our-research/case-studies/18-year-old/ Here was a case that BU studied from a high school football player.
Avatar m tn I listened to a long discussion about the subject of NFL violence against women and how the only reason Rice is in the news is that he was caught on video. We pump these young guys up and send them out to be gladiators on the field. They need to know, that once they are off the field, the violence is over. Only with severe penalties for abusing women will this stop.
Avatar m tn However, it could also be due to pinched nerve in the neck. The passing out could be due to vasovagal attack. The complex group of symptoms is mediated by the vagus nerve. This nerve is irritated by prolonged standing, standing up suddenly, stress, pain, hunger, dehydration, intense emotion etc. It can happen post exercise too. A tilt table test, holter monitor (wear this while exercising too), echocardiogram etc are done for confirmed diagnosis. Discuss this with your doctor. Take care!
271792 tn?1334979657 I guess he started waving his winkie around again. So sad, he is going to leave the NFL a loser in my book. And he is lucky if his wife hasn't thrown all of his crap in The Mississippi River by now! Sarah, do you have the inside scoop on the putz?

148588 tn?1465778809 ” I enjoy watching the Super Bowl and look forward to the great commercials (sometimes the commercials are better than the Games). “ The NFL has traditionally declined to run issue-oriented national ads during the Super Bowl,” I prefer that the NFL continue this position and let us lay everything aside for a little while and just enjoy the Game.
Avatar n tn Circling can indicate a stroke, and since there was a head injury, it could mean there is bleeding somewhere in the brain or a bloodclot as a result of the injury that caused the concussion. Chances are, in a very young dog like this, as long as the problem is caught and managed there will be no serious permanent damage, but the circling at this stage of the game is definitely cause for concern. Please let us know what the vet says.
Avatar f tn It is abundantly clear that in some cases concussions may result in seizures. That is not a "theory". It is a medical fact. It doesn't require "discussion". But not all concussions result in a seizure. There can be varying degrees of damage depending on the severity off the blow, where the impact takes place, and from resultant swelling, and if there is a delay in seeking medical attention. A "concussion" is not a "concussion".
Avatar m tn 3 days ago i was punched in the back of the head multiple times about 10 if i remember correctly i have a few bumps and it feels sore and i got a little nauseous i didnt go see a doctor .
Avatar f tn I got a concussion about 3 months ago at a cheer competition when a girl fell and elbowed me in the face. I didn’t get knocked unconscious but I blacked out for 3 or 4 seconds. Immediately after my performance I went to the athletic trainer who performed an assessment and asked what my symptoms were. Immediately I had a headache, I saw halos around lights, and I felt like I was in a dream state.
206807 tn?1331936184 He just flushed all of his bargaining chips down the toilet so, my prediction is he will get a 1-year contract at bottom entry-level pay and will be cut if he can’t prove he can make it in the NFL. There is a big difference between College and NFL Football. At 5’9 and 175lbs, he’s got a tough Row to Hoe. I don’t feel sorry for him at all. He doesn’t have a Drug Problem, he has a Lifestyle Problem. Hde’s the one that chose to **** it all away.

I've been having short term memory loss ever since. but its not so bad. but this pass few days.,,, i've been having this trobbing continues pain on my head and neck on the right side. Is it something that i must worry??
Avatar f tn Sounds like you might have a concussion. A concussion is a mild brain injury caused by a knock or blow to the head or a sudden change in motion. See a doctor just in case.
Avatar m tn NFL players do this all the time and never get HIV. You have to have deep gaping wounds to run a risk of HIV transmission.
Avatar m tn I am curious about everyone's opinion of the sanctions imposed on the NFL coaches and players regarding "Headhunting". Were they strict enough to deter this type of behavior in the future? Were the fines large enough to cause an NFL player to think again before trying to deliberately hurt another player? I don't think one year suspension for a coach is enough if he is guilty of this but, I don't have all of the facts. What do you guys think?
