Avatar n tn My head imideatly felt pain in the same spot of where I felt the pain during my concussion in rugby. Im not sure if I lost consciousness or not during one of the falls. And now I am starting the wrestling season I dont know if i should take this season off or not?
Avatar f tn It is abundantly clear that in some cases concussions may result in seizures. That is not a "theory". It is a medical fact. It doesn't require "discussion". But not all concussions result in a seizure. There can be varying degrees of damage depending on the severity off the blow, where the impact takes place, and from resultant swelling, and if there is a delay in seeking medical attention. A "concussion" is not a "concussion".
Avatar m tn Also one of my friends suggested I think about joining a rugby team from a nearby town, which instantly resulted in me shouting in her face, which I know she didn't deserve and is highly unusual of me, thankfully she understands and has layed off, but i am upset as i have a close relationship with her and it was bad of me to do that.
Avatar f tn I was playing rugby and someone smashed my head on the ground (I was knocked out) I don’t know how long but people around me said my eyes went to the back of my head. Plus I couldn’t remember anything past that. I woke up at school infirmary and failed the concussion test, couldn’t even distinguish a chair from a table. He most recent one I also lost consciousness, I passed test this time.

Avatar f tn if you need reassurance i would just ask a couple of your fellow rugby players if they know anyone w. a mumur and my money is on that half will say they do if not themselves. Good luck Cass and i think your doc will probably tell you the same thing or close to it..........................
483733 tn?1326798446 The difference between and real doctor and the internet is that the real doctor can calculate ur body fat and mass , rather than u just giving the computer a figure , oh just incase you didnt no some muscle men and rugby players who are not fat and have lots of muscle are also considered obese
Avatar m tn High school football is not known to raise the risk of tauopathy, only the level of exposure encountered during a professional career. A similar example is the increased incidence of ALS in professional Italian soccer players, who head the ball. Amateurs don't have an increased risk, and billions of people play soccer at high school. Please try to keep calm, don't worry about CTE and do keep playing sports in a way that is beneficial to your health.
Avatar m tn It is possible to have post-concussion syndrome for months and even years after the incident. This condition is a complex disorder in which a combination of post-concussion symptoms like headaches, tinnitus and dizziness are experienced. There are no specific treatment for post-concussion syndrome but treatment for the individual symptoms you experience is made by your doctor. Regular follow-up with your doctor is highly recommended. Take care and regards.

5112396 tn?1378017983 I volunteered to help someone who fosters children this weekend. And to confirmedrachel...... RUGBY players are bassass in my humble opinion. True hard core athletes ....
Avatar n tn I suggest you ask around in the boderline personality disorder forum (http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Borderline-Personality-Disorder/show/210). This is the forum on bipolar disorder, which is a mood disorder, not a personality disorder. Other than that, I would suggest talking to his doctor about your concerns to see if they have any suggestions. And be patient! Mental health issues are just like any other health issues--they don't get better overnight.
Avatar n tn Because I read the sports pages a lot, it sounds like concussion syndrome to me. Football players get it a lot. So while it could be anxiety attacks, you did suffer a concussion. Are you seeing a specialist for that?
Avatar m tn when i have the headaches I am sensitive to light or sound, i get very shaky, and i feel sick to my stomach, I am extremely athletic...and play rugby..I have had a concussion before but it has been a long time since i have experianced one, i also took a considerable amount of time off from sports to recover from the concussion. I have been stressed lately with things going on between my boyfriend and i, and have found myself becoming waaay more emotional than usual...
Avatar f tn (A lot of professional sports players, especially football, are finding that concussions they suffered in high school and college have affects on the brain in their forties.) People can also get a hematoma on the brain due to a head injury. A large hematoma would most likely produce symptoms you couldn't ignore, but I would think a small one could give you symptoms but still allow you to function. It could be neither of these things are your problem.
Avatar m tn About 2 weeks ago I was playing football with my team against another team, I almost got in a fight with one of their players and I insulted another one of their players, I accidently forgot to shake there hand after the game and also I said infront of my team that I will knock the player out, I was trying to look tough. I think of of my players knows a guy on their team but I'm not sure he told them what I said.
Avatar m tn t expect much from doctors and if possible try to find someone who specializes in concussion/MTBI. For memory, anger best to consult a neuro psychologist. The best thing is to rest and take it easy. Not sure pushing much will help or not. Each brain injury is unique and you have to find the right thing for you. I haven't found mine yet. good luck.
Avatar f tn Sorry to say that this is pretty common in vets. Post-concussion syndrome is becoming an issue for the VA and Military. In many cases it is a medical retirement issue for vets within 7 years of separation. He needs to get this documented with the VA. While the brain can heal itself, there are many military and prior service personnel out there that have on going issues related to post-concussion syndrome (some also have a comorbid PTSD.
Avatar f tn Dra Good Morning, I tried to read the previous post of your follower, but there is no same situation that i had, yesterday i played basketball gMe in our camp, most of the players are filipinos, one pilipino tried to steal the ball in my hands and accidentally scratc me with his hand nails, i am enjoying the game and i did not notice that may hand scratch by other players that time, ( blood did not came out but the scratch is totally break the skin), and continues to play, my question i pu
Avatar m tn I understand she loves to do those things, but I look to the Pro football players with concussion syndrome and think is it worth it? They didn't even have chiari....this is JMHO from what I have learned, and experiecned having chiari. I would take copies of her MRI and the reports and get a 2nd opinion from a true chiari specialist.
Avatar f tn The BMI index doesnt account for muscle. Linford Christie at the peak of fitness when he won olympic gold was classed as obese using the bmi. Most rugby players are classed as obese. I am borderline as I am 5"3 and normally weigh around 9 1/2 stone and a uk size 10...but I am a runner so have muscular legs. I studied Biomedical Sciences at uni and we were told that for many people this is a wildly inaccurate measurement because it does not allow for muscle mass.
Avatar m tn ve racked up a fair few injurys playing rugby - Ligaments in my left ankle, Ligaments in the back of my left knee, Dislocated left shoulder, back spasms and now have mild sciatica in my left bum cheek. (which i think has something to do with my back spasm, anyways). Although i have had all these injurys it has not stopped me playing and now when i am training etc When training after a run or tackle sometimes i'll get a sharp stabbing pain in my perinium area which is excruciating.
Avatar n tn one week after concussion my 14 week malteese turns in circles all day what can this be.
Avatar m tn This was a routine MRI, so we thought, after a concussion. There are only three things this child cares about. 1) Football, 2) Football, and 3) Competitive target shooting. I feel so bad for him. All he has every dreamed about since he was nine was to play in the NFL. Now, how do you tell him that he won't even have a chance too?
Avatar m tn I suggest you do a search and keep abreast of developments in this area. In the meantime any further exposure to risk in the form of Rugby should be eliminated.
