Avatar m tn Troy aikman, Jim nantz (Former QBs, now announce in the nfl). **** Butkus (former nfl player who used the terrible helmets! Now in his 70s on nfl countdown). Chanel sonnen (former ufc fighter, now broadcaster) I really could go on and on. But these are people who took blows to the head for years upon years before we really knew about the how serious head trauma is.
Avatar f tn There is currently a serious issue with respect to football players and concussions in the NFL and their symptoms closely mirror what you indicate. Head bounces from a soccer ball can cause skull bone issues especially for younger individuals. For all of you parents reading this post, make sure your children avoid similar manuvers with a soccer ball. The weight of the ball multiplied by the speed of the hit on the head can cause serious injuries for children.
Avatar f tn Guess what guys.! I got a concussion. ): Done with football for the season and sports for the whole YEAR!!! Hopefully we can let me do discus at the end of the year...NOT A CONTACT SPORT....They are talking about taking me out of football for good. Avatar m tn First I want to say Hello and to Thank anyone who replies. I have no idea on how to inform my son that his dreams and hard work has been, from now on anyway, is fruitless. How do you tell your 14 year old son that he will no longer be able to play his favorite sport? My son was diagnosed as a incidental finding of an 8mm Chiari malformation type 1. This was a routine MRI, so we thought, after a concussion. There are only three things this child cares about.
Avatar m tn s almost impossible that the current level of your head trauma would lead to something sinister. However, I strongly advise against pursuing a career in NFL, as it seems that some people, probably due to a genetic predisposition, are more prone to CTE. To put it simply, one guy gets whacked in the head every day and doesn't mind, the other has something with his blood brain barrier and develops CTE. Unfortunately, those genes are not known.
Avatar m tn ET] NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday suspended running back Ray Rice indefinitely after a new video surfaced that shows the player punching his future wife in an elevator in February, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said on Twitter. The incident had originally led Goodell to suspend Rice for the first two games of the regular season. http://www.cnn.com/2014/09/08/us/ray-rice-new-video/index.
Avatar m tn t expect much from doctors and if possible try to find someone who specializes in concussion/MTBI. For memory, anger best to consult a neuro psychologist. The best thing is to rest and take it easy. Not sure pushing much will help or not. Each brain injury is unique and you have to find the right thing for you. I haven't found mine yet. good luck.
271792 tn?1334979657 I guess he started waving his winkie around again. So sad, he is going to leave the NFL a loser in my book. And he is lucky if his wife hasn't thrown all of his crap in The Mississippi River by now! Sarah, do you have the inside scoop on the putz?
148588 tn?1465778809 http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/nfl-declines-permit-pro-gun-ad-during-super-224250020--nfl.html I'm as pro Second Amendment as you can get, but I would rather buy a 4th hand AK-47 from Somalia to defend my home than buy this guy's products. His blatant emotional manipulation, obvious agenda, and sickening use of innuendo made me want to lose my breakfast. Good for the NFL for not making an exception for this a**hole's dreck.
Avatar n tn one week after concussion my 14 week malteese turns in circles all day what can this be.
Avatar f tn It is abundantly clear that in some cases concussions may result in seizures. That is not a "theory". It is a medical fact. It doesn't require "discussion". But not all concussions result in a seizure. There can be varying degrees of damage depending on the severity off the blow, where the impact takes place, and from resultant swelling, and if there is a delay in seeking medical attention. A "concussion" is not a "concussion".
230262 tn?1316645934 I like football and watch when I can (something of a Patriots fan, the 49ers are always in my heart having grown up in SF) and a closet Brown fan...had a girlfriend several years ago from Ohio (no she didn't make chicken and dumplin's)...actually this was before they moved...but I still like the Browns. I just don't do pools.
206807 tn?1331936184 He just flushed all of his bargaining chips down the toilet so, my prediction is he will get a 1-year contract at bottom entry-level pay and will be cut if he can’t prove he can make it in the NFL. There is a big difference between College and NFL Football. At 5’9 and 175lbs, he’s got a tough Row to Hoe. I don’t feel sorry for him at all. He doesn’t have a Drug Problem, he has a Lifestyle Problem. Hde’s the one that chose to **** it all away.
900662 tn?1469390305 I'm a big NFL fan, I live in the Chicago area, I like the Bears but I'm a Cowboys -Colts- Saints - Chargers Fan. My wife enjoys a good game with me and yells more than I do.. To sum up the NFL games, I have to say there are no bad games or teams, only some games & teams are better than others. thus my name Johniebear., I even had a cast on leg to match the Bears colors in 2006 , you can see the pic if your logged in. any other NFL fans out there?
Avatar f tn I am a concussion survivor. Could you get a concussion if your head stops suddenly from a fast movement? Yesterday I was in a hurry and running and pushed the door in front of me. It stopped abruptly which caused my body to stop too. Could this cause a concussion? I'm scared because I am recovering from a concussion already. Does it make me more prone to brain injury? Please, help me!
Avatar f tn Sounds like you might have a concussion. A concussion is a mild brain injury caused by a knock or blow to the head or a sudden change in motion. See a doctor just in case.
Avatar m tn I am curious about everyone's opinion of the sanctions imposed on the NFL coaches and players regarding "Headhunting". Were they strict enough to deter this type of behavior in the future? Were the fines large enough to cause an NFL player to think again before trying to deliberately hurt another player? I don't think one year suspension for a coach is enough if he is guilty of this but, I don't have all of the facts. What do you guys think?
Avatar n tn https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/post-concussion-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20353352 Make sure to tell the doctor about all of the workouts you're doing, to make sure you're not perpetuating the problem by doing a specific exercise. Hope you start to improve!

Avatar m tn Does any of you follow the NFL? Here in DK it can be a little challenging because the networks ins't exactly seeing this as a multi-million possibility... Just saw that the season is about to start and I figured - hey - there must be some of my american homeboys and homegirls who whatch this - anybody?
229538 tn?1300377767 You know Giz I still watch the NFL but in the fifteen years since we lost the Rams and the Raiders my interest is not what it was for the NFL and this coming from a season ticket holder ! I work at UCLA so I really enjoyed watching them beat Tennessee . I hope someday we get a team back in LA ..
675718 tn?1530033033 trivia time : which US cities have two or more NFL teams? what US state has the most NFL teams?
Avatar f tn As a a positive side effect, I have also noticed that things seem to be moving in slow motion some times. In other words, I see things much quicker and my reflexes have improved. Is this normal ?
Avatar m tn A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere. In absence of these symptoms and based on the history a diagnosis of concussion is given. If concussion is severe, and there is underlying brain injury, then yes, even death can occur. Hope this helps! Take care!
