Avatar n tn m older? Trust me when I was in high school I loved football with every ounce in my body, I loved to nail people as hard as I could, but now that I've quit playing I deeply regret ever playing, because now all I want to do is be able to grow old and enjoy my family. Hopefully God will bless me, I feel as if he already has in the sense that I decided not to play college football. I hope you make the right choice.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for the input at least it gives me another way to go no the doctors never mentioned the post concussion syndrome but I'll check into it however its not just high school football to him its his college choice on the line unfortunatly but his health is more important to me we will see what I can figure out thanks again.
Avatar f tn I suffered a concussion 4 months ago when I fell during a parade with my high school band. My mom took me to the ER and I was diagnosed with a concussion. I had a CT scan and nothing was out of the ordinary, and it seemed to just be a mild concussion. 4 months later, I'm still having issues. I'm a junior in high school and concentration and memory issues made me switch out of all of my honors classes into regular ones and drop both math and science completely.
Avatar m tn My worry is that I will develop alzheimer, dementia, or a level of CTE earlier than those who did not play a sport like American football. I respectfully disagree that playing high school football will not increase your chances of incurring brain damage. https://www.bu.edu/cte/our-research/case-studies/18-year-old/ Here was a case that BU studied from a high school football player. This is this sort of stuff that has been worrying me non-stop for the past week.
Avatar f tn ve been playing full contact football since I was eight years old I am now a sophomore in high school and have played two incomplete seasons both cut short from concussions I also sustained a concussion my freshman year from football. To who ever just read through slop from my symptoms and problems I thank you so so much, I am just desperate for answers anything really good or bad I just need to know.
Avatar f tn Guess what guys.! I got a concussion. ): Done with football for the season and sports for the whole YEAR!!! Hopefully we can let me do discus at the end of the year...NOT A CONTACT SPORT....They are talking about taking me out of football for good. Which I understand...but I got the concussion off of punting which I NEVER do except for tht one time.
Avatar m tn From my standpoint your high-school footbasll coah should be criminally prosecuted for not pulling you from the game after the first concussion. Consult your mom or dad about seeing at attorney. You may have a lifetime of problems and the school should eat the medical bills as well as paying for suffering. I can understand why you were not pulled from ther game after the first two incidents, but eight concusions are unaceptable for high-school sports.
Avatar m tn He got a mild concussion in football and was out of the game for 2 weeks (this really made him nervous as his cousin had a severe concussion with lasting brain damage), soon after he healed from the concussion he got swine flu and was out of school the better part of two weeks, shortly after a return to health he got Mono and strep throat (he wasn't fatigued, but had a severe sore throat, pains, and difficulty swallowing). Now he gets scared at school.
Avatar f tn My son also was hit in the head with a baseball bat around the age of 7 that resulted in a mild concussion. He played high school and college football and substained a concussion playing football while in 10th grade. He also broke his ankle playing college footbal which resulted in surgery and a metal plate was fused to his bones to repair his broken ankle. ER doctors think he had a seizure @ the wheel of the car.
Avatar f tn Good morning, My son is complaining of blurry peripheral vision after his football game last night. He said lifted weights lightly this morning and sat down to do homework and noticed that he could see to the sides--that it looked black and blue and he could only see what he focused on. I had already asked him if he had done any heavy lifting this morning and then also asked if he had eaten breakfast yet. He hadn't eaten and was on his way to do so.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am an 18 year old male who is still suffering from the effects of multiple concussions in high school. I had one my junior year, which was not too serious, and the effects of it soon cleared up. However, the next year, I received a violent blow to the head (football again) in which my mouthpiece wasn't in correctly. I was wearing a revolution helmet, the supposedly concussion proof helmets, which cracked all the way down the side from where I got hit.
Avatar f tn My 17 year old son, who has always been very active in sports, especially football and basketball was injured two months ago when a pellet went through his chest and eventually ended up lodged in the neck area behind his right ear. Doctors say where it is lodged, it will never move and should not pose any problems at all. He spent three days in the hospital with a collapsed lung and a week out of school.
Avatar m tn This was a routine MRI, so we thought, after a concussion. There are only three things this child cares about. 1) Football, 2) Football, and 3) Competitive target shooting. I feel so bad for him. All he has every dreamed about since he was nine was to play in the NFL. Now, how do you tell him that he won't even have a chance too?
Avatar n tn Thank you for your response. When I was in high school I suffered 3 concussion playing football , I stopped playing my junior year had have not had any post concussion syndrome issues, maybe its connected . The reason the first doctor thought STD is because I started feeling symptoms 3 days after having sex, but my doctor does not feel it is related since all tests have been negative. I never had any outbreak and Valtrex for 6 weeks no change. I am just very scared at this point.
Avatar f tn 2 weeks ago my 15 year old son suffered a concussion while playing football (linebacker). When we reviewed the dvd, we discovered he played a whole quarter after the initial injury. He had no memory of that quarter or the injury. The trainer said he should be all right. He still had a really bad headache the next day, so I took him to the ER. They said it sounded like a concussion, but since he never lost consciousness, there was no need for any xrays or ct scans.
Avatar m tn I'm 16 years old after my football concussion my eyes have gotten farther apart now I can't even look my friends in the eyes . Do eye doctors do surgery for this or medicine . What should I do ?
20620809 tn?1504362969 My boy plays football in high school. He tore his ACL and had surgery. We have some guidelines but am wondering if anyone else has been through this and how long we should expect him to heal. Will he ever be the same? He runs track in the spring and has been an excellent sprinter. We're worried this could ruin his ability to have that same speed. And should he ever return to football?
Avatar n tn I sympathize with you and understand your situation very well, since I had suffered a few injuries myself, in my younger days as a soccer player (high school and college level). It was very frustrating, but that's unfortunately common in the world of sports.

Avatar n tn I am getting headaches every day at the same time. Could this be from the concussion? Should I have it checked out before I go back to school next week?
Avatar m tn I had a mild Traumatic Brain Injury and severe concussion 1 year 8 months ago. Post Concussion Syndrome followed after that and that is what probably your cousin's doctor call it. I have several symptoms and the worst is dizziness, heavy headed and fatigue. Been to many therapies, meds and no help. Right now I am trying some PT for my neck which seems to be causing my dizziness. I don't know and no one knows including specialists. It is tough to diagnose dizziness.
Avatar f tn s a little back ground on him. He has played football for over 6 years, when he was a freshman he had a concussion and last year as a Sophmore at a football game he broke his nose "Deviated septum" and ENT MD would like him to wait till out of High School to do surgery, since my son wasn't sure if he wanted to return playing any contact sports. So he can only breath out of one nostril.
Avatar f tn Concussions and other brain injuries results from high-contact sports such as football, boxing, wrestling and hockey. Aside from headache, other symptoms noted are dizziness, lightheadedness, memory loss, nausea or vomiting, blurred vision and sensitivity to light, difficulty in concentrating or with balance. For complex concussion, symptoms may last longer than 7-10 days. Have her rest and to avoid any activities. It is also important to avoid loud, bright, busy environments.
Avatar f tn The headaches have gotten much better but I have had days when I can really feel the pressure. My high school friends and I have been planning a trip to a house we rented in the mountains for months now. If I still have occasional lingering headaches can I drink? Will drinking hurt my head further? Please help.
