1980327 tn?1326248976 I had a head injury Dec 23 and now I get dizzy every time I turn at night while laying down, is this a normal sign of concussion.
Avatar n tn I had an x-ray yesterday which showed no fracture, however I now feel worse than I did yesterday with disorientation (I try to walk in one direction and go in the other), dizzyness, fatigue, my limbs feel like led weights, my fingers are tingling. I have an increasingly worse headache and am feeling very nauseous.Things are starting to get very difficult to make sense of! And its becoming quite difficult to focus on things...everything has a blurry edge to it. My pupils are like pin pricks.

Avatar n tn Welcome...Bless his/her heart! What happened? This is normally a Neurological Issue due to injury to the brain & nervous system from head trauma....In your case (One week later) sounds as if the swelling has not been brought under control...The Vet that diagnosed the "Concussion" should have given an Anti-inflammatory (Usually steroids) to help with the inflammation. You need to return to your Vet today & have your puppy checked again.....
Avatar n tn Hello, I feel that your grandson needs to be evaluated for a head injury as soon as possible.Mostly hematomas formed after a head injury soon in case of children, but as your grandson is having signs of concussion or a raised intracranial pressure(most probably due to a subdural hematoma)it needs to be evaluated by a neurosurgeon immediately. An x-ray or CT head is advisable. Pls don’t listen to your daughter as your grandson needs immediate evaluation. Hope it helps.
Avatar f tn Sounds like you might have a concussion. A concussion is a mild brain injury caused by a knock or blow to the head or a sudden change in motion. See a doctor just in case.
Avatar n tn When my husband was discharged from the ER they gave him a paper explaining about head concussion. So we assumed he had a head concussion. He did o.k. for two days and then started being confused and disoriented again. For the most part he seems fine, but today he had another episode of confussion/disorientation and dizziness. Are this symptoms normal? Thanks for any response.
Avatar f tn I hit my head on the ground hard, experiencing extreme pain in the back of my head, so much so I felt like I was going to cry-which I never do. It took me a few minutes to get up, and when I did, pain exploded in the back of my head. Since then, I've been tired, angry, irritable, expirienced mood swing and headaches. should I go to the doctor to check for a concussion?
Avatar n tn The ER has to take you, regardless of your ability to pay. They generally can tell you how to apply for financial aid and might set up a payment plan. If you have a concussion, which you should find out if you do, it can be serious. Please don't let finances stand in your way!
Avatar n tn If the head injury is serious there can be a tinkling sensation due to a head and neck injury...symptoms of a concussion can be subtle and may not be immediately apparent. Symptoms and that includes a headache can last for days, weeks or even longer. You may want to see a doctor depending on the severity of a blow to the head that can cause a blood clot.
Avatar m tn About two months ago I suffered an injury to my left eye and the fore head area of my head. Two weeks later the ER Doctor told me I have post concussion syndrome, the CT scan was normal, however I still feel dizzy, lazy, depressed, my ears ring non stop and after I eat I feel like passing out. My primary care doctor said to give it about 90 days to a year. Can you tell me how much more should I wait before I see a neurologist.
Avatar f tn I have made the mistake of NOT going to a doctor, NOT going to the emergency room (after a car accident/whiplash) and self diagnosing. Head injuries/concussion are brain Injuries. If you end up on disability, in an insurance claim, or in a lawsuit, you will need medical documentation. This could affect your ability to do or keep your job depending if memory and concentration are important for the safety of yourself/others.
Avatar m tn Is it possible that I may internally bleeding in my head. One of my relatives had an internally bleeding in her head not too long ago after she fell down , hence I am feeling scared. Almost 2 hours has passed since I fell down and still I donot feel any such discomfiture other than a blunt headache which lasts for 2/3 minutes. Should I be worried?
Avatar n tn Since there is headache, dizziness, nausea, and tingling in arms, you need an evaluation to rule out traumatic brain injury, and compression of a spinal nerve in the neck region. It is also possible that you had nerve compression, which got aggravated due to head hit. Also pain at the site where the head hit is normal, but since other symptoms are persisting, you should consult a doctor.
Avatar n tn I hope he is okay after this time you will know.... in my opinion any child who has shortness of breath after a head injury should be looked at ..
Avatar m tn Oh, I don't like the sound of that. While it might be normal to vomit, it can equally be a sign that he's had a little concussion or small bleed in his brain. So, take him on over to the ER, especially if you notice he's overly sleepy, and have him checked out. It can't hurt. My brother had a hit on his head like that, he said he felt out of it for a few minutes, but then he was okay. But he is an adult.
Avatar f tn I am not sure anyone will be able to answer accurately since a concussion is a jarring to the brain and what happens physically in/on the brain no one knows.
Avatar f tn I am a concussion survivor. Could you get a concussion if your head stops suddenly from a fast movement? Yesterday I was in a hurry and running and pushed the door in front of me. It stopped abruptly which caused my body to stop too. Could this cause a concussion? I'm scared because I am recovering from a concussion already. Does it make me more prone to brain injury? Please, help me!
Avatar m tn Can a person who is concussed and reports no LOC actually be experiencing a LOC at that time? I was concussed and was diagnosed with a Moderate Concussion in the ER and have no recollection of anything during that time. Is all this possible?
Avatar m tn I also hit the back of my head and had a severe concussion and brain contusion (bruising of brain) 1 year 10 months ago and still suffering with 24/7 dizziness, stuffy head, ringing in ears etc., When it comes to Post concussion syndrome it is really a collections of many many symptoms and confusing. You are only 3 weeks away so it may be too early to call it and most people recover within few weeks or months. I am the unlucky one.
Avatar n tn my son had similar head jerking after concussion 2 years ago. He also had another concussion recently w/ constant head pain. We tried chiro,PT(exercise+stretching), meds and he got worse. missed 1xmonth of school. I found a PT who combines cranial-sacral/soft tissue and other standard PT regimens(she had training for concussion injuries) and he improved w/ each visit.
Avatar m tn Usually, such symptoms may result due to post-concussion syndrome and may last for weeks or months after the injury that caused from the injury of a fall, vehicle accident, or sports injury. For treatment approach, first it is essential to get (MRI) done to detect the brain or spinal abnormalities after that injury. Treatment commonly may be suggested for symptoms such as pain-killers, some antidepressants, physical therapy and regular exercises.
Avatar f tn Hi there. Head injury could be closed or open. Closed injury means you received a hard blow to head from striking an object, but the object didn’t break the skull. These include, concussion which is the commonest traumatic brain injury, contusion is a bruise on brain and skull fractures. The head may appear fine but complications could arise from bleeding or swelling inside the skull. The spine also needs to be examined.
Avatar m tn A concussion can last for weeks after the head injury. The symptoms too vary from person to person. Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere.
