About 2 years ago, she was hit in the head with the handle bar of a bicycle, resulting in 12 staples in her head. They did not do a ct on her but said that she didn't suffer from a concussion. Her pediatrician has said that she can suffer from side effects for a year or so. Is this true? She is having a lot of pain and pressure in the area of the scarring. I am really starting to get worried. I cannot get a doctor to do any scans to check her out.
It is abundantly clear that in some cases concussions may result in seizures. That is not a "theory". It is a medical fact. It doesn't require "discussion". But not all concussions result in a seizure. There can be varying degrees of damage depending on the severity off the blow, where the impact takes place, and from resultant swelling, and if there is a delay in seeking medical attention. A "concussion" is not a "concussion".

The radiation from a CT scan is significant and should only be done when necessary, especially in children. It may be possible that your son shouldn't participate in high impact sports anymore. His mental capacity, intelligence and being able to live headache free are more valuable than high school football experience.

Hannah is an extremely bright, creative, athletic and sweet young lady, who did not have any of these symptoms prior to her April 2011 concussion. I have a history of migrane headaches. I have been in three minor car accidents, kicked in the head by a horse, pinned in a trailer and run down on separate occasions. These have all resulted in mild/moderate concussion/contusion, bruised ribs, moderate concussion/contusion, respectively. I have had pneumonia. I have anemia for which I take a daily vitamin. The cause of the anemia has not been identified, and there was signs of an enlarging spleen.
Sounds like you might have a concussion. A concussion is a mild brain injury caused by a knock or blow to the head or a sudden change in motion. See a doctor just in case.

Make sure to tell the doctor about all of the workouts you're doing, to make sure you're not perpetuating the problem by doing a specific exercise. Hope you start to improve!
A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere. In absence of these symptoms and based on the history a diagnosis of concussion is given.
If concussion is severe, and there is underlying brain injury, then yes, even death can occur. Hope this helps! Take care!
My doctor said the same thing, it was do to the concussion and that I would be fine. I read in one of your post that your daughter was said to have Post-Concussion Syndrome after a head injury. I do not know how long ago that was but if you looked up what the doctor was talking about like I do when my kids health is involved. You might of seen that the syndrome can sometimes last over a year in some cases.
As for epilepsy, I have it.
I was also surprised at how difficult it is, even in NYC, to find a specialist with expertise in this type of brain injury in young children. The first neurologist we saw gave us information that, as we later learned, was many years out-of-date.)

I have a serious concussion and I have strained my trapiuses muscle... I also have osgood schlatters in one leg and I can't run with out getting dizzy due to the concussion... I really need to work out ... I have been out for a month ... Please and thank you !
I was involve in a very bad car accident 02/10 and have no memory of the actual wreck. the hospital deemed I have a severe concussion and then also diagnosed me with Post Concussion Syndrome. I am currently also experiencing back and neck problems as well as getting a collarbone checked out for a possible fracture.
My question is does coffee effect concussion and PCS recovery. And how long does recovery generally take.
Mostly hematomas formed after a head injury soon in case of children,but as your grandson is having signs of concussion or a raised intracranial pressure(most probably due to a subdural hematoma)it needs to be evaluated by a neurosurgeon immediately.An x-ray or CT head is advisable.
Pls don’t listen to your daughter as your grandson needs immediate evaluation.

Loss of consciousness isn’t required for a diagnosis of concussion or post concussion syndrome. Post concussion syndrome occurs within first 7 to 10 days and until 3 months. Symptoms are variable including dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, light and noise sensitivity, headache varying from a tension type to cluster headaches. You need to consult a neurologist immediately.

I got a concussion about 3 months ago at a cheer competition when a girl fell and elbowed me in the face. I didn’t get knocked unconscious but I blacked out for 3 or 4 seconds. Immediately after my performance I went to the athletic trainer who performed an assessment and asked what my symptoms were. Immediately I had a headache, I saw halos around lights, and I felt like I was in a dream state.
