concussion

Avatar n tn Is this dilation a sign of fear, due to pain, or could it be something worse, like a kitty concussion? Or after reading other posts, rabies? (DOUBLE the dilation shown in the attached photo.
664732 tn?1296823050 I would take her in to a vet immediately, perhaps a different vet for a second opinion. Animal hospitals, if there is one in your area, are a good choice for cats suffering from trauma. They tend to have large staffs that have seen a lot of this kind of thing. I recommend animal hospitals to a lot of people, but even more so for trauma cases. If nothing else, she will need antibiotics if she has an abcess and needs to see a vet for that. I wish you all the best of luck.
Avatar m tn My 10 week old kitten has suffered a concussion recently (ran into a door pretty hard). We took him to the vet and they gave him a steroid shot for possible brain swelling. The vet told us he needs a few days rest. But i'm concerned as he just lays in one spot all day, doesn't really respond to his usual toys. Pupils are even on both sides, he responds to movement, but no desire to act on it. He drinks water, but he wont eat unless we force him and is becoming noticeably skinnier.
Avatar f tn My 9 yr old cat suddenly has a difference in the size of his pupils. He is eating and acting ok so far. I have noticed alot of twitching in his tail when he is resting. Anyone else experienced this?
436973 tn?1217947089 That truly is an amazing cat you have! I would neveR be able to keep a cat locked indoors no matter how much it cost me to buy, fix, take care of, whatever. I just can't do it! I wouldn't want anyone to do that to me. Anyways, my neighbor has 2 indoor cats and the poor things just stare out the sliding-glass door everyday. She puts them out in "cat-cages" for a while. They're beautiful cats.
Avatar n tn one week after concussion my 14 week malteese turns in circles all day what can this be.
Avatar f tn It is abundantly clear that in some cases concussions may result in seizures. That is not a "theory". It is a medical fact. It doesn't require "discussion". But not all concussions result in a seizure. There can be varying degrees of damage depending on the severity off the blow, where the impact takes place, and from resultant swelling, and if there is a delay in seeking medical attention. A "concussion" is not a "concussion".
Avatar f tn This condition then gradually clears. * Concussion. A concussion means the cat was knocked out or experienced a brief loss of consciousness. Upon returning to consciousness, the cat exhibits the same signs as those of a contusion. There are other types of brain injury like cerebral edema and blood clot. Signs of Increased Intracranial Pressure Following a blow to the cat's head , you should watch for signs of brain swelling or the development of a blood clot.
1338123 tn?1275858857 Dressing our cats up in doll clothes......boy, does that ever bring back memories. We even gave them milk in a doll bottle, rocked them to sleep and strolled them around....when they didn't jump out...in a doll baby carriage. Funny...the cats/kittens usually went along with it.
Avatar f tn I am a concussion survivor. Could you get a concussion if your head stops suddenly from a fast movement? Yesterday I was in a hurry and running and pushed the door in front of me. It stopped abruptly which caused my body to stop too. Could this cause a concussion? I'm scared because I am recovering from a concussion already. Does it make me more prone to brain injury? Please, help me!
Avatar f tn Sounds like you might have a concussion. A concussion is a mild brain injury caused by a knock or blow to the head or a sudden change in motion. See a doctor just in case.
Avatar n tn https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/post-concussion-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20353352 Make sure to tell the doctor about all of the workouts you're doing, to make sure you're not perpetuating the problem by doing a specific exercise. Hope you start to improve!

Avatar n tn All my cats are indoor cats. Indoor cats live longer and stay healthier. I do leave them out in the back yard on weekends for about an hour, supervised of course.
Avatar f tn As a a positive side effect, I have also noticed that things seem to be moving in slow motion some times. In other words, I see things much quicker and my reflexes have improved. Is this normal ?
Avatar m tn A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere. In absence of these symptoms and based on the history a diagnosis of concussion is given. If concussion is severe, and there is underlying brain injury, then yes, even death can occur. Hope this helps! Take care!
Avatar m tn Revolution is primarily a treatment for fleas in cats and dogs but it is approved for ear mites in both.
Avatar m tn My doctor said the same thing, it was do to the concussion and that I would be fine. I read in one of your post that your daughter was said to have Post-Concussion Syndrome after a head injury. I do not know how long ago that was but if you looked up what the doctor was talking about like I do when my kids health is involved. You might of seen that the syndrome can sometimes last over a year in some cases. As for epilepsy, I have it.
Avatar m tn She was in the clinic for two days straight and her lower broken jaw (common for cats to break) was set with a wire (will be out for 6 weeks) and there was a concussion (a nice way of saying potential brain damage).
1563533 tn?1345366296 I have always had houseplants and my cats never seemed to care. My cats, however, were indoor-outdoor cats. I think cats require an outside life, unlike dogs whose life is with their masters.
Avatar n tn VET asap! It could be lots of things, but the walking in circles and glassy eyes sounds like symptoms of a concussion. Cats don't always land on their feet and lots of them climb dangerous places. If she fell when you weren't around you wouldn't know. Concussions are very dangerous, but very treatable. Go now!
Avatar n tn I have a serious concussion and I have strained my trapiuses muscle... I also have osgood schlatters in one leg and I can't run with out getting dizzy due to the concussion... I really need to work out ... I have been out for a month ... Please and thank you !
Avatar m tn I was involve in a very bad car accident 02/10 and have no memory of the actual wreck. the hospital deemed I have a severe concussion and then also diagnosed me with Post Concussion Syndrome. I am currently also experiencing back and neck problems as well as getting a collarbone checked out for a possible fracture. My question is does coffee effect concussion and PCS recovery. And how long does recovery generally take.
Avatar m tn I found a herring gull, lying on it's back on the side of a road, this was at 2:30 in the morning on friday, it is 14:00 on saturday at time of writing. I pulled over to see if it was dead, but it turned out it wasn't. It tried to escape from me, but it fell on it's chest and didn't make any further attempt to get away. I checked it for fractures, but wings, legs and neck are fine. I would simply have snapped it's neck for it's own good if there had been fractures.
Avatar f tn Loss of consciousness isn’t required for a diagnosis of concussion or post concussion syndrome. Post concussion syndrome occurs within first 7 to 10 days and until 3 months. Symptoms are variable including dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, light and noise sensitivity, headache varying from a tension type to cluster headaches. You need to consult a neurologist immediately.
