Avatar f tn I am 54 years old, Sand I suffered a concussion a about 2 weeks ago. I tripped over a high curb, with a 2 year old in my arms.I automatically pushed her to the side and I took the bang to the head. Of course my concern was the little girl. I checked her over. And she seemed fine. Except she cried for awhile. The whole thing is a blur it happens so fast. Later in the day I was sitting on the couch. And my 10 yr old grandson said look at me Meemaw and look to your right.
Avatar f tn About 2 years ago, she was hit in the head with the handle bar of a bicycle, resulting in 12 staples in her head. They did not do a ct on her but said that she didn't suffer from a concussion. Her pediatrician has said that she can suffer from side effects for a year or so. Is this true? She is having a lot of pain and pressure in the area of the scarring. I am really starting to get worried. I cannot get a doctor to do any scans to check her out.
Avatar f tn My 5 year old daughter is a squad gymnast and yesterday while trying to do a backwards walk over we heard a big crack from her back or neck. She didn’t cry but it did scare her a bit and she said it was a bit sore but then continued playing. Today I gave her a hug and heard another small crack which has never happened before. She says she’s fine and not sore and wants to keep doing tricks.
Avatar m tn My 16 year old son was in a car wreck 5 1/2 days ago where he suffered a grade 2 moderate concussion. He was knocked unconscious for a short period of time & received a scalp laceration to the right side of his head . The CT scan discovered what the neurosurgeon described as a small thread size bleed. Later that day another CT scan was done & all signs of bleeding were gone & the blood had been absorbed. His stay in the hospital was for 3 days.
Avatar n tn I had an MRI & there was no swelling. I was cleared to begin workouts & started my freshman year of college. I am in the AFROTC so I work out hard every day, take vitamins & drink a gallon of water daily. It has been about 5 months since my injury & I am getting headaches every day at the same time. Could this be from the concussion? Should I have it checked out before I go back to school next week?
Avatar m tn He got a mild concussion in football and was out of the game for 2 weeks (this really made him nervous as his cousin had a severe concussion with lasting brain damage), soon after he healed from the concussion he got swine flu and was out of school the better part of two weeks, shortly after a return to health he got Mono and strep throat (he wasn't fatigued, but had a severe sore throat, pains, and difficulty swallowing). Now he gets scared at school.
Avatar f tn I have a godson who is 2and a half yrs old now nearing 3yrs old in March. Recently he has not been into eating, been sleeping at night and a lot more during the day and saying some very strange things. Today i went round and he was screaming inconsolably for 2hours solid, like it was a night terror but he was aware of the presence of us.
Avatar f tn I was recovering at a fairly normal pace until about 3/4 weeks into recovery when pain worse than when I had the initial headache from trauma. Keep in mind at that point I was a healthy 15 year old boy that was extremely active. Well anyway the pain that had returned from nowhere was increasing gradually for about one and a half months until the pain was so intense I had to go to the ER at 1am.
Avatar n tn I am 18 years old and last fall during Rugby season I had a concussion. I was out of conscious for around 4 minutes. And now yesterday I was snowboarding and fell multiple times on my head while not wearing a helmet. My head imideatly felt pain in the same spot of where I felt the pain during my concussion in rugby. Im not sure if I lost consciousness or not during one of the falls. And now I am starting the wrestling season I dont know if i should take this season off or not?
Avatar f tn I can`t live in a bubble this is depressing. I see my life as a 32 year old mother of two at a standstill somewhat when it comes to physical play. I can`t rough house anymore, can`t play hockey with them or run or jump. I have to be somewhat overly cautious to prevent any hit to my head because it will back me again. I`m fearing that this will always be like this but am hoping that someone will tell me that I will get better with time.
Avatar m tn I'm a 27 year old male and I hit the back of my head on the wall over 3 weeks ago. I hit it twice in a row out of anger, and afterward I experienced neck/head ache as well as extreme tiredness. I went to the doctor 4 days later after symptoms were still present and they said I had a concussion. They performed a CT scan and said everything was FINE! I was relieved to hear this.
Avatar f tn I would have him see an ophthalmologist for a complete eye exam. He will need a visual field and a dilated retinal exam.
Avatar n tn The way the medical clearance works if they pretty much give you what you want. I was in a hospital decades ago in very bad shape and got a four-hour pass for a first-class physical to fly jets (which was granted). I then returned to the hospital (they didn't ask me why In had a band-aid on my median antecubital) and immediately ended up in critical care. So much for being "cleared to fly". I am not saying he should give up his wings forever.
Avatar n tn I was in a MVA Sept 2007. I have a grade 3 concussion. I have now had PCS for 6 months. Dr's say i'm looking at 1 year before i recover. I have major sleep problems, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, bad balance, headaches, memory problems,no sense of smell, sensitivity to light and noise, very poor concentration. Everything is a huge effort. I try pushing myself but that only has made me so frusturated I turn into a monster!
Avatar f tn I can tell you from personal experience that a concussion can leave you with a variety of neurological issues for over a year. I had a severe concussion appr. 5 years ago. I hit the base of my skull against a metal storage rack. I did not fall unconscious but had to immediately rest as I was feeling off. I actually tried to not fall asleep as I was worried about internal bleeding.
Avatar f tn My 12 year old son, Ben, suffered a concussion in April 2008 when he was hit with a line drive hardball in his left eye while playing baseball. The impact of the ball caused the concussion, and the shape of his pupil is now oval. I took him to a pediatric opthamologist who did a thorough exam. He said there is no lasting damage other than the shape of the pupil, but he needed glasses.
Avatar n tn My fifteen year old has suffered 3 concussions in 9 months. He has had 3 CT scans in that time. The last concussion was almost two weeks ago. He still has headaches and some fogginess. How worried should we be about long-term damage? When will the headaches go away?
Avatar f tn Hello my 11 year old son suffered a gr.2 concussion during a hockey game. He had a MRI which showed the brain was fine but after 3 months he still hasn't gone one day without getting a headache. He is itching to run around and play. Can he run, jump, ride a bike even if he is still getting headaches or should he do no physical activity even after 3 months? We're trying physio. now to see of it helps.
Avatar n tn I am a 24 year old female who was in a car accident in december 2005. I had a slight concussion, and whip lash. Ever since then I have had severe headaches on the left side of my head and frequent dizziness. The headaches start on the left side of my neck and travel into my head. I wake up in severe pain everyday, and if I move my neck the wrong way or sleep the wrong way, I am severly dizzy all day. This has been very dibilatating during the past two years.

1051397 tn?1253813660 Thank you so much for your input. When I got home yesterday she looked a little out of it. I gave her water through a medicine dropper and blended come food and fed her. Once she ate and had water she got up and walked around. I took her in the back yard and she use the bathroom ok. Her balance is still off but I can also tell she is having trouble seeing. I will follow up with her vet. tonight when I get off of work. Nothing seems to be broken by her ability to walk...
Avatar m tn My neck is in extremely bad shape very stiff and I have a tendancy to crack it on my own a lot. Both my parents are chiropractiors and im currently getting adjustments on a normal basis. Are these flashes and floaters brain related? Im a major hypochondriac so im always thinking things like brain tumour or some type of cancer. I see most flashes outside or in the light but not really ever in the dark, I don't the floaters in the dark either.
Avatar n tn My son has been experiencing hypothyroid/sluggish adrenal symptoms (based on what I have read) for a year or two. 1 endo suggested hypo, but test results came back OK. Another 1 also said the same thing, based on what the first one said. My wife has been told that the blood test is the last result, that a saliva test would be more indicative of a problem.
