582396 tn?1259863489 I am over the moon excited that DH got a 5-10 day appointment at Mayo Clinic - Dec. 10. Anyone have any experiences on what to expect etc?
Avatar n tn Her neurologist gave her few details as to what he thinks is causing this and wants to send to her to the Mayo clinic. Any thoughts on what this problem is or what to do next??
Avatar m tn usually in the front part of my head. Painful pressure and when I visit Mayo Concussion Clinic neurologist she just says perhaps I am focusing too much on my symptoms (which is not true) or my other 2 options is for her to give me daily meds. me for the rest of my life or try out a Cefaly (Like a TENS unit) unit on my forehead for 20 minutes each day and that may help. She is no longer listening to me since she does not know what to do.
627388 tn?1222198212 Has anyone from the MS forum ever seek treatment for their MS at the Mayo Clinic? If so, how was your as your experience with physicians from the clinic? I am considering driving up to Mayo at some point if my neurologist in town can't definatively diagnosis me.
Avatar f tn I have just made an appointment for a full work up at the Mayo Clinic, does anyone know the tests involved and how much they charge? Thank you!
Avatar m tn Some here on the board are not real pleased with the Mayo clinic. It seems they have their own set of standards to give out a dx of MS. I personally know nothing about them and wish you the best....hoping for that answer.

Avatar f tn I had a mild Traumatic Brain Injury 1 year 8 months ago followed by Post Concussion Syndrome. I still have all the symptoms you mentioned and somethings got better. But the constant dizziness and fatigue disabled me at this point. You need to get a CT/MRI as Dr. Sharma suggested. Most likely it shows nothing but you never know. After my injury I pushed myself, went to work etc., and after 5 weeks it got extremely worse and haven't recovered still.
Avatar f tn Tuesday I flew home, neck still stiff ,headache after my flight in the evening. Wednesday I wake up headache starts later in the day neck is almost better, Nd today Thursday I woke up with a headache and became nauseous in the evening. I told my dad about my headache and he just says in a stress headache. I’m not sure what to do? I live in Canada so the cost is not a problem and there is a hospital nearby that has a separate walk in clinic. I don’t have a mother so don’t bother.
Avatar f tn Hello, everyone. I have been "diagnosed" with Chiari via the radiologist that viewed my MRI. I have my first appointment with Mayo tomorrow. The neurologist that originally ordered the MRI had no idea what Chiari was, so I'm trying out Mayo. I am going to the clinic in Jacksonville Florida - have any of you gone? Do you have any experience, good or bad, with them? I have waited SO LONG to get to this appointment.
Avatar f tn I am working with Mayo Clinic in Jax now, and I have to say, I hope the NS is better than what I have dealt with so far. I saw a neurologist June 21 that I LOVE LOVE LOVE. I wish his specialty was NS and Chiari. He told me to report to him any new symptoms between my appointment with him and my consult with NS on July 19th.
486038 tn?1300063367 I've not been to the Jacksonville Mayo or the MS clinic in Houston, I'm sorry about that. I have heard a lot of good things about the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and Dr. Elliot Frohman who works there. I'm sure if you google his name you can find out much more than I can tell you about, here.
Avatar m tn Truthfully, I've heard one of the best MS Clinics in the US is the Mellen Center at Cleveland Clinic. You might try checking out http://www.mscare.org They list all the clinics available, etc. My neuro said the clinic at Cincinatti isn't that great but thinks Cleveland Clinic is really good. I've never heard of the Mayo Clinic being highly rated for MS, but more for heart desease.
Avatar n tn My 35 yr. old son has had almost constant headaches for over a year and a half. He has been to several "specialists" and the Diamond Headache Clinic in Chicago and Mayo Clinic in Mn. He is being treated with drugs, since MRI shows no tumors, etc. The drugs are not working. Vicodin does temporarily lessen the pain as does demoral. He cannot get anymore vicodin. He has never had an allergy test, the doctor at Mayo didn't think it was necessary. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I decided that I should travel to the United States and hopefully get a diagnosis. I know that Mayo clinic and Cleveland clinic have a good dysautonomia clinics but I don't know which one should I choose so I would appreciate any suggestions !!! Also I know healthcare in the US is so expensive and since I don't have insurance I wonder how much such a visit to one of those hospitals will roughly cost ?I know it's hard to tell but I'm asking for a roughly cost. Thanks.
Avatar f tn G'day. I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right area-don't know where else to put it. I've had a concussion for about 9 days now with "usual, mild-average" symptoms. The last couple days have been like the first couple days, cannot rest my head at night from the pain, taking two 650 mg Tylenols when I think of it, also seem more confused & forgetful (before major loss of sleep). The last 48 hrs. I've slept for 40 min's.
Avatar f tn A month ago I was in a bad car accident. My car flipped and I hit my head going unconscious. So obviously I had a concussion. I'm healing and have been trying to decide which exercise would be the best? I've belonged to a gym since Oct. but am just concerned to start exercising again. My dr says I need to treat myself as if I have a concussion for at least a year, or while symptoms last. I get headaches, dizziness, sometimes very mild forgetfulness.
Avatar f tn i got hit in my head last week. i m suffering from severe headache. there's sharp pain at the back of my head. the pain towards my forehead too. what should i do?
Avatar f tn is one of the possible symptoms of iron-deficiency anemia per the Mayo Clinic website.
Avatar f tn Maybe I was too harsh about Mayo. To be fair to Mayo Clinic, I do think they do have some very good doctors there, maybe it's just hard to get a neuro diagnosis - as it seems to be most other places in this country - so what's new? I did really think the Mayo radiologist who looked at my films was excellent - he found a couple of things the original outside radiologist did not notice such as brain mass loss.
Avatar m tn I took a blow to the back of my head 3 days ago, it was pretty hard but I did not lose consciousness or get dizzy. My vision has been fine also. I do have a headache now for three days. Should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn Usually, such headaches and dizziness may result due to post-concussion syndrome and may last for weeks or months after the injury that caused from the injury of a fall, vehicle accident, or sports injury. In addition, patient may experience either migraine type or tension type headache. For treatment approach, first it is essential to get (MRI) done to detect the brain abnormalities after that injury.
Avatar f tn Vomiting/nausea, light sensitivity, sensitivity to noise, confusion/altered mental state, headache, fatigue.... All are concussion symptoms. If he was hit twice he needs to see a Dr.
Avatar m tn and small cut where I hit it. I got a headache and then very nauseated about 20 minutes later. The next day at work I was almost finished with my shift and all the sudden I got so dizzy I couldn't walk out of work without holding on to the wall. The third day when I was at home, I woke up, I still had a headache and was dizzy all day and just felt blah so I went to my dr. that day. He did a neuro exam and during this exam he made me walk across the room.
1509014 tn?1290987185 Hi has anyone been to the Mayo clinic? I dread going and would like to know what to expect.
