Common Questions and Answers about Concussion headache ear

concussion

Avatar f tn I play softball in college and about 3 weeks ago i was hit in the head with a bat right above my left ear. My coach gave me a concussion test and my head was hurting pretty bad throughout the day. The next day it wasnt bothering me too bad so I didnt go to the doctor to see if i did have a concussion. Well ever since that weekend, i have pressure headaches on the right side of my head.
Avatar m tn The first day when i had Injury went to urgent care. they did concussion test( eye moving, ear, eye moving and dental) . in ER also they did same thing.
Avatar f tn Loss of consciousness isn’t required for a diagnosis of concussion or post concussion syndrome. Post concussion syndrome occurs within first 7 to 10 days and until 3 months. Symptoms are variable including dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, light and noise sensitivity, headache varying from a tension type to cluster headaches. You need to consult a neurologist immediately.
Avatar n tn I have a pretty good knot on my head still and know I had a concussion (dizziness, fatigue, nausea/vomiting and headache). Well.. today my head still hurts, but I am noticing pain in my ear as well still. That began last night. Since I do not have insurance, I am wondering if I should be concerned and seek treatment. Please advise!
Avatar f tn At first I`d wake up feeling like my husband had accidently punched me in the head during the night. And I noticed that my hearing was diminished in that ear. The ear wax is more watery and at times looks a little greenish with the yellow. The pain is intermittent but when it comes it stays for days and is a bothering dull pain. If I press on the spot the pain doesn`t change but I do have a spot that is more sensitive when pressed (like a bruise would feel).
Avatar f tn Hey, I'm 20 years old and healthy. I hit my head on a dent in the celling 2 weeks ago and it hurt but i didn't think much of it, only to have a killer headache/almost passing out episode 3 days later. -I've been nausous since, went to the hospital a bunch of times and was diagnosed with a concussion. They did a CT scan and everything seems normal.
Avatar m tn Another symptom was a mild headache when I was tired but I do not know whether this can be attributed to the hit or to me feeling overly anxious over a possible concussion. Do you think a concussion is a possibility? Any feedback would be very welcome!
Avatar f tn A chinese boading ball, which is a meditation ball fell and hit the right side of my head. Yes, it really hurt and I was dizzy afterwards. It's been two days since then and my symptoms are dizziness, drowsiness, tired, headache, the area isn't tender but it does ache from what feels like the inside, lethargy. Is it serious? Do I have to go to the hospital right away?
Avatar f tn When I touch from the top center of my head down to my left ear there is a weird pulsing that happens in my ear almost like my eardrum is bumping very aggressively into the walls of my ear but when I stop touching my head the pulsing stops. Also afterwards my head will feel hot/burn. I was just wondering if anyone would know a possible cause for this and if it may be alarming and may possibly be crucial to my post concussive recovery. Thanks!!
Avatar f tn My child has had a headache for months folowing a sore throat, ear ache, cold and then a head injury and mild concussion. The Doctor said it was sinusitus. Blood tests were fine except for an ASOT of >400. This was treated by antibiotics. A later CAT scan showed maxillary sinusitus but the ENT specialist said this did not explain his frontal headache. His ASOT is now >900. He is sick and tired and I am worried. Any clues?
1072295 tn?1255449536 It can also cause TMJ problems. Ear drums also get burst or ear damage also occur post impact on head. Please push your GP for a MRI of the brain and cervical spine immediately and if not possible go to an ER for this. Take care!
559187 tn?1330782856 Hi, I just wanted you to be aware that what you could be suffering from could be a concussion. I have had the lp headache and a concussion and I can tell you they are identical in the way they hurt. I do not know if you hit your head but that isn't even necessary. If you were jerked around at all your brain still can be rattled in your skull and that is all that is required to develop a concussion.
Avatar f tn If it is on the 9-10 pain scale range, this warrants further evaluation by your attending physician. This could be due to primary headache such as migraine or tension headache. However, imaging studies may need to be done to help determine the underlying cause and to rule out possible secondary issues. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Ok so I have had close to the whole chart in symptoms of a concussion 7 months post impact. I was recovering at a fairly normal pace until about 3/4 weeks into recovery when pain worse than when I had the initial headache from trauma. Keep in mind at that point I was a healthy 15 year old boy that was extremely active. Well anyway the pain that had returned from nowhere was increasing gradually for about one and a half months until the pain was so intense I had to go to the ER at 1am.
Avatar n tn As you suffering from some headache also,it’s important to rule out a disease of the brain causing the nausea. The nausea and headache can also be related to the concussion that you have suffered.Did you get CT or MRI head after that concussion? If not I feel that you should consult a neurologist also. I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind regards.
Avatar m tn Bleeding from the ear can be due to foreign body in the ear, infected wax, perforation of the ear drum with internal ear infection, ear polyp, ear boil, clotting disorders, middle ear infections and sudden pressure changes. The ear would need to be examined by an otoscope (a device to look inside the ear) by an ENT specialist to know what is causing the bleed. If there is internal ear infection then post auricular lymph nodes (those behind the ear) can enlarge and become painful.
Avatar n tn No LOC, no confusion, no amnesia of the event or immediately before. I had no symptoms whatso ever for 2 hours. On day-1, I had a mild headache and some lightheadedness. On day-2, for a few hours the headache and lightheadedness (not vertigo) continued. I also had some numbness of Lt leg and weakness of Rt. hand for few hours that spontaneously resolved. After 28 hours, I was completely symptom free.
Avatar m tn I saw the doctor last Tuesday and she prescribed me Amitryptyline 25mg every night and that seems to have took the severe headache off, just get the odd minor headache now and again (That could be due to me working on computers most of the day, although I do take regular breaks now) Still don’t feel myself, not very socialable (which is unusual for me). Getting a strange warm aching pain around right temple down to right eye and cheek?.
Avatar f tn I have suffered from headache, fatigue, short term memory loss, personality changes, angry outbursts, difficulty in social situations, dizziness, loss of balance, occasional blurred vision, tinnitus, etc. Lately, over the past few weeks, I have noticed that these symptoms seem to be getting worse. Is it normal for symptoms to worsen so long after the injury? Is there anything I can do to help reverse the trend?
Avatar f tn I hit the back right side of it, maybe 3-5 inches away from my right ear. When I hit it, it SOUNDED like it was bad (my sister freaked out and asked if I was okay), but it actually barely hurt at all. A little bit later, I started getting a headache feeling in that spot. When I touch it, it doesn't really hurt. It only hurts by itself. These headache feelings in the concentrated spot will only last a few seconds, but they are frequent. It's not getting worse.
Avatar f tn i got hit in my head last week. i m suffering from severe headache. there's sharp pain at the back of my head. the pain towards my forehead too. what should i do?
Avatar n tn Along with the blood coming from his left ear, he also has some clear discharge. Also, he has ringing in the left ear, his balance is somewhat off, and his feet are peiodically numb when he sits down. To beat all, he sweats a lot and has vivid dreams at night. I have begged and pleaded with him to go to the doctor, and he agreed to go to the ER Tuesday with me while our 4 year old autistic daughter is at preschool. I'm at my wits end with this situation.
Avatar f tn I have a sharp very bad pain in the lower back left part of my skull over to my left ear. It feels like extreme pressure. Sometimes it will back off to a dull ache. It started about a week ago. It has not fully gone away since. If I try to do anything extremely strenuous or stressful it seems to be much much worse. I have been taking aspirin and using ice packs for very limited relief. My doctor can not see me for 6 weeks. Any advice as to What to try that might would ease the pain?
Avatar m tn s had a headache, dizziness, and fatigue for 12 days. A visit to his GP 5 days ago indicated he may have a slight ear infection so he was prescribed a z-pack, but his symptoms have gotten worse. Last night we went to the ER and a head and neck CT scan found nothing, but he was kept overnight for observation, then discharged him with no real conclusion. His blood pressure and white blood count were normal.
Avatar f tn I suffered a concussion on Jan. 3rd and had just a bad headache,a little dizziness and a lump on the back of my head. Then a few days to a week the dizziness got alot worse, i became unsteady on my feet, developed ringing in my ears, nausea and the headache got worse. I've had an MRI and CT Scan and both were fine. Now I'm having a little problem with remembering names and other little things, plus I've noticed that loud noises and bright lights seem to bother me too.
Avatar m tn I took a blow to the back of my head 3 days ago, it was pretty hard but I did not lose consciousness or get dizzy. My vision has been fine also. I do have a headache now for three days. Should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn Usually, such headaches and dizziness may result due to post-concussion syndrome and may last for weeks or months after the injury that caused from the injury of a fall, vehicle accident, or sports injury. In addition, patient may experience either migraine type or tension type headache. For treatment approach, first it is essential to get (MRI) done to detect the brain abnormalities after that injury.
