Common Questions and Answers about Concussion fatigue

concussion

Avatar m tn ve had concussion symptoms (headache/dizziness/fatigue/sleepiness/mental fatigue/brain fog/difficulty concentrating/feeling out of it). I did not hit my head, but I did sort of brace it/try to hold it in place while we stopped. Is it possible to get a concussion just from slamming on the brakes at 65 miles per hour?
Avatar f tn I was wondering if there is another condition that had similar symptoms to post concussion syndrome. I have all of the most commonCommon coldsymptoms such as fatigue, nausea, migrains, mood swings, difficulty concentrating and remembering, but I also loss blocks of time, I pass out, and often experience some numbnessNumbness and tinglingon one side of my body. Could I have something other than Post Concussion Syndrome, and if so what?
Avatar f tn Vomiting/nausea, light sensitivity, sensitivity to noise, confusion/altered mental state, headache, fatigue.... All are concussion symptoms. If he was hit twice he needs to see a Dr.
Avatar f tn Loss of consciousness isn’t required for a diagnosis of concussion or post concussion syndrome. Post concussion syndrome occurs within first 7 to 10 days and until 3 months. Symptoms are variable including dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, light and noise sensitivity, headache varying from a tension type to cluster headaches. You need to consult a neurologist immediately.
Avatar f tn Had a concussion several weeks ago with instant headache & nausea which have gotten worse. Already had 2 CT scans without contrast, showing they were normal. The headaches and nausea are pretty bad daily, have gotten worse since the concussion. I'm now scheduled for an MRI scan, should I do it with or without contrast. Have read so many negative things about getting it with the contrast.
1614777 tn?1298483489 Yes, if you have brain fog too, then apart from concussion liver and kidney disorders or chronic fatigue syndrome should be ruled out.
Avatar f tn Ok so about 7-8 months ago I suffered a concussion and was off work for quite a time I am getting back to it now. My question is can suffering a concussion cause depression and suicidal thoughts as well as self harm? Basically when I was a teenager I was suicidal and a cutter and haven't done anything like that since, until I got the concussion and a few months into the treatment etc I started cutting again and feeling suicidal.
Avatar n tn She then attempted to vomit unsuccesfully many times before fading in and out of concsiousness. Is that concussion or is it more serious??
435918 tn?1204737341 m kind of fed up and tired of feeling this way... headache, fatigue, jaw pain, etc. I am supposed to see a neurologist on 3/13, but the girl in his office said not to tell him I had been involved in a MVA because he won't see me if he knows. I just don't know where to go from here. I've never been hurt in a MVA before and just feel like I'm getting the "run around" from everyone. Do you have any suggestions for me? I sure would appreciate some advice. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Yes it does sound like a concussion. I would see your doctor right away or go to the ER to make sure there is no serious damage. They will probably do a CT scan or MRI.
Avatar n tn my son had similar head jerking after concussion 2 years ago. He also had another concussion recently w/ constant head pain. We tried chiro,PT(exercise+stretching), meds and he got worse. missed 1xmonth of school. I found a PT who combines cranial-sacral/soft tissue and other standard PT regimens(she had training for concussion injuries) and he improved w/ each visit.
Avatar n tn I was in a MVA Sept 2007. I have a grade 3 concussion. I have now had PCS for 6 months. Dr's say i'm looking at 1 year before i recover. I have major sleep problems, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, bad balance, headaches, memory problems,no sense of smell, sensitivity to light and noise, very poor concentration. Everything is a huge effort. I try pushing myself but that only has made me so frusturated I turn into a monster!
Avatar f tn I suffered a concussion 4 months ago when I fell during a parade with my high school band. My mom took me to the ER and I was diagnosed with a concussion. I had a CT scan and nothing was out of the ordinary, and it seemed to just be a mild concussion. 4 months later, I'm still having issues. I'm a junior in high school and concentration and memory issues made me switch out of all of my honors classes into regular ones and drop both math and science completely.
Avatar f tn I am surprised they did not tell you to keep her awake as is the usual thing to do in case of concussion, also with the vomiting .did you take her for the scan ?
Avatar n tn I have a pretty good knot on my head still and know I had a concussion (dizziness, fatigue, nausea/vomiting and headache). Well.. today my head still hurts, but I am noticing pain in my ear as well still. That began last night. Since I do not have insurance, I am wondering if I should be concerned and seek treatment. Please advise!
Avatar f tn My 12 year old son, Ben, suffered a concussion in April 2008 when he was hit with a line drive hardball in his left eye while playing baseball. The impact of the ball caused the concussion, and the shape of his pupil is now oval. I took him to a pediatric opthamologist who did a thorough exam. He said there is no lasting damage other than the shape of the pupil, but he needed glasses.
Avatar m tn I had a mild Traumatic Brain Injury and severe concussion 1 year 8 months ago. Post Concussion Syndrome followed after that and that is what probably your cousin's doctor call it. I have several symptoms and the worst is dizziness, heavy headed and fatigue. Been to many therapies, meds and no help. Right now I am trying some PT for my neck which seems to be causing my dizziness. I don't know and no one knows including specialists. It is tough to diagnose dizziness.
Avatar f tn I have been experiencing intense tingling sensations throughout my body, heat intolerance, fatigue, dizziness, insomnia, and increased salivation. I had a fall in Jan. 2010 with a hairline fracture at C3 and concussion. I experienced a "thunderclap" headach in May 2010. I was sent to the ER. The MRI showed nothing. The LP showed only that I had a possible virus. I was also given ECG...and stress test. It is not cardiac.
Avatar f tn After getting hit on the head, you can certainly have a concussion. There are multiple grading scales for concussion. The American Academy of Neurology scale is graded on a scale of 1 to 3, where grade 3 has any loss of consciousness. Grade 2 is with any symptoms lasting more than 15 minutes. If there is any loss of consciousness or alteration in mentation or neurological deficit, labeling the injury as traumatic brain injury would also be appropriate.
Avatar f tn That would contribute to knee problems for sure. As to fatigue, what is your lifestyle like? Do you eat well, take a multi vitamin, exercise? Those things aid in proper energy. I know that when I have caffeine as part of my day in the form of pop/soda, I'm always tired. I do better without that. What is your sleep pattern at night? Do you have any stress going on? And could you be depressed? Medications that you are taking? All these things could lead to fatigue?
Avatar n tn She then attempted to vomit unsuccesfully many times before fading in and out of concsiousness. Is that concussion or is it more serious?? she went to hospital i dont really know her but i want to know if she is ok!
Avatar f tn I had a concussion a little over 2 weeks ago, and I had the typical signs afterwards..headache, nausea, tiredness, etc. I thought I was feeling a little bit better but then it just got worse and worse. Now I can't concentrate or focus (I'm a college student and 50 minute lectures were no problem for me, but now after 10 minutes my mind is gone..and that's extremely problematic).
Avatar m tn in retrospect a mild concussion. Everything seemed to be improving, then a few months later I started to have muscle weakness, unexplained pain, and fatigue. The weakness was the most limiting problem, and physical therapists said I had somehow worked my muscles to the point that they "quit", without feeling any pain. MRIs were done from the neck down, and I've had all sorts of diagnoses thrown at me since then, from fibromyalgia to malingering.
Avatar m tn My 16 year old son was in a car wreck 5 1/2 days ago where he suffered a grade 2 moderate concussion. He was knocked unconscious for a short period of time & received a scalp laceration to the right side of his head . The CT scan discovered what the neurosurgeon described as a small thread size bleed. Later that day another CT scan was done & all signs of bleeding were gone & the blood had been absorbed. His stay in the hospital was for 3 days.
Avatar f tn Amantadine has made a dramatic improvement for me for post-concussion syndrome. I am 8 months post-concussion after getting hit on the left temple by a baseball pitch. CT scan normal, no bleeding or injury. Symptoms had increased over time, but the pressure, migraines, and sensitivity to certain sounds were almost unbearable. I moved to a city with a concussion specialist and have started Amantadine for my initial treatment.
