582396 tn?1259863489 Sports injury (concussion), car accident (concussion) and then he was walking to his car one night and was jumped by a gang who repeatedly kicked and punched him in the back of his head before he was able to get away. He had a big hematoma in the back of his head. We've kept a mini timeline, but I'll definitely work on that before we go! One doctor did suggest he may have IBS, especially since it runs in his family... it's hard to know for sure. Thanks for asking!
Avatar f tn G'day. I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right area-don't know where else to put it. I've had a concussion for about 9 days now with "usual, mild-average" symptoms. The last couple days have been like the first couple days, cannot rest my head at night from the pain, taking two 650 mg Tylenols when I think of it, also seem more confused & forgetful (before major loss of sleep). The last 48 hrs. I've slept for 40 min's.
Avatar f tn A month ago I was in a bad car accident. My car flipped and I hit my head going unconscious. So obviously I had a concussion. I'm healing and have been trying to decide which exercise would be the best? I've belonged to a gym since Oct. but am just concerned to start exercising again. My dr says I need to treat myself as if I have a concussion for at least a year, or while symptoms last. I get headaches, dizziness, sometimes very mild forgetfulness.
Avatar f tn My 12 year old son, Ben, suffered a concussion in April 2008 when he was hit with a line drive hardball in his left eye while playing baseball. The impact of the ball caused the concussion, and the shape of his pupil is now oval. I took him to a pediatric opthamologist who did a thorough exam. He said there is no lasting damage other than the shape of the pupil, but he needed glasses.
Avatar m tn Hi! It is very difficult to say what is wrong. Dizziness could be due to several causes both related and unrelated to injury. There is a chance that your cousin is depressed after the injury. If his cognitive skills are fine then he can attend school. Again as I said, it is difficult to say what the problem is.
Avatar f tn Four days ago I slipped, fell and hit the back of my head on a concrete boat dock. The next morning I went to an urgent care clinic and was diagnosed with a concussion. The doctor had a CT scan of my head done and said there was no bleeding or damage to my skull at the time. Is there any chance that bleeding as a result of my head injury could be delayed and start up a few days after hitting my head?
Avatar f tn I talked to one clinic in Washington D.C. (Taste and Smell Clinic) and they have some extensive procedures, therapies, medications etc., Again it is a try. Medicine can do nothing much and all you can do is pray.
Avatar f tn I had a mild Traumatic Brain Injury 1 year 8 months ago followed by Post Concussion Syndrome. I still have all the symptoms you mentioned and somethings got better. But the constant dizziness and fatigue disabled me at this point. You need to get a CT/MRI as Dr. Sharma suggested. Most likely it shows nothing but you never know. After my injury I pushed myself, went to work etc., and after 5 weeks it got extremely worse and haven't recovered still.
Avatar n tn t be a problem with Prozac, but as CJ said, it can be stimulating to some people, so be careful, but it is true with the Ativan. And to have post concussion syndrome, you have to first have a concussion. Be careful out there!
Avatar f tn Back in December, I was assaulted which resulted in several bad injuries, including a concussion. I don't remember most of the night that it happened, but I do remember hitting my head on something, and when I touched the back of my head, my hand came back covered in blood. I went home, and went to sleep, but when I woke up at 11 am the next day, my head was still bleeding as well as leaking clear fluid. I picked up my friend, and she took me to the med clinic to get stitched up.
Avatar f tn So a big heavy box fell on my head today at work and I am not sure what happened I was standing getting it off the shelf and the lid fell then I knelt down to pick it up and the box fell on my head as I was looking up. The wierd thing is I do not really remember the box falling and thought I was standing but I wasn't! Anyhow I felt and still feel like vomiting and I have been dizzy ever since and it doesn't really hurt anymore but I feel weird! I can't describe!
Avatar m tn I think having migraines every day since your injury back in FEBRUARY and also the sleepy aspect of your symptoms, these both suggest you had a mild concussion, which can cause a number of brain injuries problematic enough that you really do need a scan done of your head.
Avatar n tn Sorry to alarm you but i know children miss diagnosed with anger issues or adhd only to find a brain bleed from an old knock to the head, please just be aware but not paranoid and simply seek a GPs advice or book into a concussion clinic.
Avatar f tn I’m 14 year old girl and I just got back from a ski trip. Basically what makes me believe I might have a concussion is that 5 days ago we where skiing and I fell on a pretty flat run, I went face first landing on the left side of my face, I was unconscious for 30 seconds. My dad told me some guy offered to call ski patrol which my dad said no to. I slowly got up, I had a pretty bad headache as we where skiing down.
151462 tn?1359172276 From everything I have read online my doctor has done just about everything. I have a appointment at the Cleveland Clinic in three weeks, but I just wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions that I have not tried yet.
Avatar f tn I am sorry you have lost taste and smell. This could be due to concussion and could come back some time. . At times it is due to traumatic injury either to the olfactory nerve or to the olfactory center in the brain and this type of damage is permanent. If it is due to injury to nose internally then this may recover. The various tests carried out to detect the cause of loss of smell is CT scan of nasal sinuses, MRI of brain, allergy testing, and blood glucose levels.
Avatar m tn My concussion occurred 37 days ago when I slipped and fell backwards hitting the back of my head on a turf surface. In terms of the concussion recovery, I've been working with a concussion therapist to employ the practices of slowly getting back into activities without provoking symptoms. Unfortunately, I haven't seen much progress and may even have my symptoms come on earlier. I believe that this is related to sleep and neck issues that began about 18-20 days into the recovery.
Avatar m tn I was involve in a very bad car accident 02/10 and have no memory of the actual wreck. the hospital deemed I have a severe concussion and then also diagnosed me with Post Concussion Syndrome. I am currently also experiencing back and neck problems as well as getting a collarbone checked out for a possible fracture. My question is does coffee effect concussion and PCS recovery. And how long does recovery generally take.
Avatar m tn usually in the front part of my head. Painful pressure and when I visit Mayo Concussion Clinic neurologist she just says perhaps I am focusing too much on my symptoms (which is not true) or my other 2 options is for her to give me daily meds. me for the rest of my life or try out a Cefaly (Like a TENS unit) unit on my forehead for 20 minutes each day and that may help. She is no longer listening to me since she does not know what to do.
Avatar f tn No major symptoms until 5 months ago, I got dizzy, passed out and hit my head on a marble table. Since then, Post concussion syndrome is the only thing 2 neurologists will talk about I am extemely light headed, bad headaches, blurry vision, very tired, weak legs, arms and hands. And I cry alot. my ct and mri showed mild gray matter changes, they say not enough to mean anything. What should I be doing differenlty to get help?
Avatar f tn The 2nd time I fell and hit my head, obviously had a concussion. 17 years ago, i got dizzy and passed out, no concussion. Back then I was dx with MS even tho I never had a lumbar puncture or any neurological testing. This time everyone has been focused on the concussion.
Avatar n tn I have a serious concussion and I have strained my trapiuses muscle... I also have osgood schlatters in one leg and I can't run with out getting dizzy due to the concussion... I really need to work out ... I have been out for a month ... Please and thank you !
Avatar f tn Loss of consciousness isn’t required for a diagnosis of concussion or post concussion syndrome. Post concussion syndrome occurs within first 7 to 10 days and until 3 months. Symptoms are variable including dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, light and noise sensitivity, headache varying from a tension type to cluster headaches. You need to consult a neurologist immediately.
Avatar f tn I am a concussion survivor. Could you get a concussion if your head stops suddenly from a fast movement? Yesterday I was in a hurry and running and pushed the door in front of me. It stopped abruptly which caused my body to stop too. Could this cause a concussion? I'm scared because I am recovering from a concussion already. Does it make me more prone to brain injury? Please, help me!
Avatar f tn I do not qualify for medicaid, basically what I experience is intermitant, the pain will start on the temporal and parietal area, where I did hit the cement and then radiate toward the occipital bone, it usually lasts for a minute maybe less or more, not really sure... all I am aware of is that it hurts :), as I said it is not a headache, it is a sharp pain and when it occurs I am very well aware of it.

Avatar f tn I got a concussion about 3 months ago at a cheer competition when a girl fell and elbowed me in the face. I didn’t get knocked unconscious but I blacked out for 3 or 4 seconds. Immediately after my performance I went to the athletic trainer who performed an assessment and asked what my symptoms were. Immediately I had a headache, I saw halos around lights, and I felt like I was in a dream state.
