Common Questions and Answers about Concussion blow

concussion

Avatar f tn Yesterday I suffered mild blow to the head. I have hit my head many times before, much harder than yesterday and yet, I've never experienced any symptoms that might be indicative of concussion. Yesterday, however, I felt a bit dizzy for a few minutes immediately after having been hit. Also, 15 minutes following the blow, I started to feel a bit nauseated.
Avatar n tn Who. A cuncussion is a result of a blow to a head. Forgive me if I don't see the connection between "tire blow-out" and "head injury". If there was a concussion there is a "window of opportunity" to prevent swelling that has probably passed. If these symptoms are present without a blow to the head he needs an evaluation for a stroke. He should be evaluated at an emergency room ASAP.
Avatar m tn A more sever blow to eye will cause eye damage more than concussion. However if it was the forehead area then also blue black eye is a possibility. Concussion can occur if the forehead was hit hard. By now she must have settled down However is she has vision problems, headache, nausea etc then consult a doctor ASAP (maybe ER) Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn I took a blow to the back of my head 3 days ago, it was pretty hard but I did not lose consciousness or get dizzy. My vision has been fine also. I do have a headache now for three days. Should I be concerned?

Avatar m tn A concussion is a specific syndrome secondary to a blow to the head. Impacts to the skull that produce a concussion can certainly cause death, if not quickly addressed in an appropriate medical facility. The cause of death is usually due to lack of oxygen to the brain secondary to swelling and the oclusion of the supply of blood and nutrients. To cut to the chase, just because you or your child has a concussion does not mean you are going to die.
Avatar f tn The first was a blow to the front of my head and I was unconscious for 3 1/2 hours. The second was a blow to the back of my head, were I was dizzy immediately afterwards (then it went away). After a few hours the dizziness came back and I had lost all memories of those few hours has well has my short term memory for the following 5h (according to a friend I was with). The tricky thing comes with everything else that happened afterwards.
Avatar f tn I have read that internal brain bleeding can occur as long as 6 or 7 weeks after a hard blow on the head, and by the time you have the symptoms of it, it has progressed to the point of being dangerous and needing possible surgery. Please see your doctor ASAP!!
Avatar f tn Sounds like you might have a concussion. A concussion is a mild brain injury caused by a knock or blow to the head or a sudden change in motion. See a doctor just in case.
12128836 tn?1423574148 is absurd and incorrect A concussion is due to a blow on the head. The brain moves and actually displaces. In all concussions there is swelling. The swelling in turn impinges on blood flow, which in turn causes necrosis (death) of brain cells. In general there is a window-of-opportunity to administer drugs to reduce the swelling. There can be damage without the presence of nausea or of unconsciousness. This damage may not show on an MRI. The other possibility is a brain bleed from the blow.
Avatar f tn Loss of consciousness isn’t required for a diagnosis of concussion or post concussion syndrome. Post concussion syndrome occurs within first 7 to 10 days and until 3 months. Symptoms are variable including dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, light and noise sensitivity, headache varying from a tension type to cluster headaches. You need to consult a neurologist immediately.
Avatar m tn Can a person who is concussed and reports no LOC actually be experiencing a LOC at that time? I was concussed and was diagnosed with a Moderate Concussion in the ER and have no recollection of anything during that time. Is all this possible?
Avatar f tn I had a concussion 20 days ago, following a blow to the left temple. As well as a headache , I experienced waves of strange feelings in head including cold feeling, numbness, waves of tingling and pressure with dizziness. Very sleepy, irritable and emotional. Pressure headache worsened after activity and as days progressed. On and off nausea. On day 6 was sent to ER from work. concussion diagnosed and rest prescribed.
Avatar f tn I fell a couple of weeks ago and fell coming down the stairs in my socks on hard wood surface, I fell and hit the back of my head my Doctor thinks I have a mild concussion but I'm thinking maybe I should call my surgeon. I jsy want to feel better and not live my life like this.

Avatar f tn He hit my right side of the head (1st Blow) with a full beer bottle. then another blow right on top of my forehead. the second blow broke the bottle and i received 2 stiches on my upper forehead (right in the middle). The ER only took X-ray of my head. No scan was done. I've been having short term memory loss ever since. but its not so bad. but this pass few days.,,, i've been having this trobbing continues pain on my head and neck on the right side. Avatar f tn It is abundantly clear that in some cases concussions may result in seizures. That is not a "theory". It is a medical fact. It doesn't require "discussion". But not all concussions result in a seizure. There can be varying degrees of damage depending on the severity off the blow, where the impact takes place, and from resultant swelling, and if there is a delay in seeking medical attention. A "concussion" is not a "concussion".
Avatar f tn I had about five drinks on an empty stomach (not one of my better decisions), and it hit me unusually hard. I never have issues remembering nights even with heavy drinking, but I'm really foggy about most of the details of the later half of my night. My friend told me I hit the back of my head really hard on a concrete wall (more than once).
Avatar f tn Since then i have a nice lump where my head took the initial blow, but there is also a second spot on the top/rightback'ish side of my head that is just as tender and sore. But there was no blow to that part of my head. Could i have a concussion and not know it? Could i have fractured or injured the top/back of my head by taking a blow to the forehead?

Avatar n tn Have you ever heard of white brain matter developing from a somewhat medium blow to the head causing or a mild concussion injury? - Or even a severe blow to the head. . .and if so how long would it take to show up. Or would it be correct that white brain matter is caused entirely by unhealthy habits, such as smoking, drinking and extended use of multiple medications.
Avatar m tn after suffering a blow to the head,i had a headache for about a week, however i did not seek medical attention.the headaches went away for about 2 months then i was rushed to emergency with dizziness and light headedness, and blood pressure 188/89 after ct scans and other tests they could find nothing wrong.i was rushed to hospital 2 weeks after that with same symptoms plus my whole body was shaking.now i have been diagnosed with post concussion syndrome.
Avatar f tn t personally bealive thst cause i had a small amount of atrophy on the right lobe, the same area that sustained the blow that caused this concussion. I have also had multiple previous head trauma that I now know to be concussions.
Avatar m tn My boyfriend shifted positions in bed last night and his arm forcefully collided with my jaw/chin. It really hurt my jaw initially and it still feels pretty tense with a dull ache on that side about an hour later. I have tmj and that's the side of my jaw that pops in place the most so that of course doesn't help. However, I know habe a headache on that side of my head. Should I be concerned that the blow Could be given me a Concussion?
Avatar n tn If the head injury is serious there can be a tinkling sensation due to a head and neck injury...symptoms of a concussion can be subtle and may not be immediately apparent. Symptoms and that includes a headache can last for days, weeks or even longer. You may want to see a doctor depending on the severity of a blow to the head that can cause a blood clot.
