Concussion baseline test

Common Questions and Answers about Concussion baseline test

concussion

Avatar f tn I know that my kids in sports have each Fall a baseline concussion test. This then can be checked for the full year if there is any sort of injury to see if it is a concussion. Otherwise, you have to look for symptoms. This article you can copy and paste has a lot of info related to concussions. We looked for the signs after my son took a big head splitter in a soccer game and was put under concussion watch. https://my.clevelandclinic.
Avatar f tn This was my blood cortisol baseline before my ACTH test. 30 minutes after the injection, my blood Cortisol went up to 40. Over 4x the baseline. Any feedback is greatly appreciated since I won't see my endo for 3 weeks .
Avatar f tn He did cry immediately and I observed him for the next couple of days and he seems to be at his baseline health. My question is, this occurred 11 days ago and he still has a bump on his forehead that is tender to touch. Is this something to be concerned about given the amount of time that has passed and the bump is still present?
Avatar f tn See your doctor to determine this. I would definitely do that and if nothing else, you have a concussion baseline exam for anything that happens in the future. Again, I don't think what you experienced was just the fall but your drunken state. But you probably did also get a good bang to your head that I'd want to make sure was okay. Let us know what they say!
1088527 tn?1425313375 My insurance company is refusing to pay for cognitive function tests which I was supposed to go to tomorrow this would have been year 4 for the eval and though I really didnt want to know how much worse I got this year but thought the results might help with ssdi since its one of my main reasons for not being able to work since I am still in limboland they said they would pay for it if i have suffered a concussion within this years time so I havent had that.
Avatar m tn Concussion may appear like intoxication but any good doctor would be able to know the difference by just doing a blood test! You can definitely be drunk with a concussion ... again a decent physician is going to ferret out which is which! Take care ....
Avatar f tn LMP start date was 05/02/15, I requested my beta levels to be checked and my initial is 247, I get re checked tomorrow morning for a comparison. I feel nervous... I know that my baseline is within range but can't help but feel impending doom... grr. Anyone else remember or know their 4 wk baseline and their comparison?
Avatar f tn Immediately I had a headache, I saw halos around lights, and I felt like I was in a dream state. I went to a concussion specialist who performed an impact test on me and diagnosed me with a concussion. A couple weeks later I got cleared but soon after I started experiencing severe sensitivity to light and my vision seemed to worsen. I had been given glasses to use while driving for distance and now I have to wear them all the time or I can’t see.
Avatar f tn Loss of consciousness isn’t required for a diagnosis of concussion or post concussion syndrome. Post concussion syndrome occurs within first 7 to 10 days and until 3 months. Symptoms are variable including dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, light and noise sensitivity, headache varying from a tension type to cluster headaches. You need to consult a neurologist immediately.
Avatar m tn t walking straight because I was dizzy. he said he was very sure I had a concussion and so he sent me to the ER for a ct scan. After the ct scan, the NP said although It didn't show a concussion I do have one and it showed sinusitis. Ive had sinusitis a few times before and it's never made me nauseated or that dizzy.
Avatar f tn I had a metal iron shelf fall on my head at work 4 months ago, got a concussion and ended up with post traumatic concussion syndrome. He needs to go to the doctor!!!!! He needs to have a CT or MRI to check for headbleeding then he needs to see a neurologist and let them run test!!!!! It's so important. They told me if I hit my head again I'll have permanent damage.
Avatar f tn Had a concussion several weeks ago with instant headache & nausea which have gotten worse. Already had 2 CT scans without contrast, showing they were normal. The headaches and nausea are pretty bad daily, have gotten worse since the concussion. I'm now scheduled for an MRI scan, should I do it with or without contrast. Have read so many negative things about getting it with the contrast.
Avatar f tn Also had PCT and given a series of phlebotomies to reduce high ferritin level of 783. Started tx 3/28. I went for a baseline PCR on 3/25. Unfortunately, the lab did not do the correct test and the only results given were above 750,000. By the time my doctor informed me of this I had already been on six weeks to treatment (peginf and riba) and he did order another PCR, the results were 100,000.
Avatar m tn The first day when i had Injury went to urgent care. they did concussion test( eye moving, ear, eye moving and dental) . in ER also they did same thing.
Avatar n tn Hello, if someone thinks he lost consciousness at one point, say during a fight because he has a memory gap that makes sense to him only if he was knocked out, is there a medical test to show that he indeed lost counsciousness? If so, how soon after the knock out would the test have to be performed?
435918 tn?1204737341 I suffer muscles that get as stiff as metal rods and are very painful. This happened after a concussion with symptoms so strong there were times I could barely walk, along with a host of other symptoms, for weeks after the accident. Then followed the 'metal' muscles. There are a number of very rational reasons to suggest maladaptive synaptogenesis because of focal axon injury, and all i want is to get an mri or dti test and an expert to look at it.
Avatar f tn Baseline 395 / 30 mins 544 / 60 mins 6??. 2nd: Baseline 360 / 30 mins 534 / 60 mins 626. I also had 2 x 9am Cortisol tests. 1st 239. 2nd 269. GP said that everything seems fine and hasn't offered any treatment. I don't know how to interpret these tests for myself and would appreciate any advice / opinions. Thank you.
Avatar n tn As you know, a "Grade 1" concussion is the mildest category. That being said,m there is no such thing as a "harmless concussion", and in the final analysis Lacross is a meaningless activity. Missing a season is not worth a lifetime of problems. I am somewhat concerned he did not have an MRI, and insofar as school authorities are mandated to pick-up-the-bill, this non-invasive test should have been provided.
Avatar f tn I play softball in college and about 3 weeks ago i was hit in the head with a bat right above my left ear. My coach gave me a concussion test and my head was hurting pretty bad throughout the day. The next day it wasnt bothering me too bad so I didnt go to the doctor to see if i did have a concussion. Well ever since that weekend, i have pressure headaches on the right side of my head.
Avatar f tn yesterday she went in to see her doc and the exam went fine, no visible signs of anything but she suggested they do a baseline HPV test following new 3 or 5 year pap/HPV guildlines. We have not had sex (wife) in nearly 9 months. My last encounter with a married doc herself without protection was about 9 months back.
Avatar f tn t hurt, it seems to me, to find a neurologist who can test for post-concussion problems. Unfortunately, this isn't easy to diagnose or find and often takes years before it might show up on a diagnostic picture, but with all this going on, might be worth a try. Another problem, though, is, don't know if there's any cure for it. If he had childhood seizure disorder, how then can you be sure the wellbutrin caused the seizure?
Avatar n tn I am a 33 year old mother to four children and I have suffered since high school in extreme ways similar to Addison's symptoms. I feel at this point that I am non-functional and am desperate to live like a normal person. EXTREME fatigue, no appetite, very underweight, frequently passing out, low blood pressure, always freezing cold, and many others things. I have been taken by ambulance twice for passing out and being unresponsive and have pass out upon standing a few times a week.
Avatar f tn I had the ACTH STIM test done and could use some insight into what these results mean.... Cortisol baseline: 17.9 Cortisol 30 min: 37.3 Cortisol 60 min: 40.9 My last 4 point saliva cortisol test showed my morning cortisol to be 5 and my total cortisol to be 9.7. I was off any/all supplements for 8 weeks, prior to the ACTH test. I'm also very anemic, and have sluggish thyroid, estrogen and testosterone dominance too. Osteoporosis, malabsoprtion, etc... Lots going on.
Avatar f tn A month ago I was in a bad car accident. My car flipped and I hit my head going unconscious. So obviously I had a concussion. I'm healing and have been trying to decide which exercise would be the best? I've belonged to a gym since Oct. but am just concerned to start exercising again. My dr says I need to treat myself as if I have a concussion for at least a year, or while symptoms last. I get headaches, dizziness, sometimes very mild forgetfulness.
Avatar f tn I had an unsuccessful first round on follistim and am scheduled to start the first shot of my second round in two days. From reading these posts, It seems like most people have a baseline ultrasound to check for cysts. I asked the nurse I spoke to and she said they only do baseline ultrasounds when there is a known issue. I had a cyst during my initial work-up in November, but nothing during the first round. I know it's not good to take follistim if you have cysts.
Avatar f tn Sarah had another Stim Test this morning. Her baseline was 1. At 30 min. it was 22.5 and at 60 min. it was 32.3. Any input........?
