Avatar m tn Hello, 9 months ago I had an industrial accident with Loss of consciousness, and mild TBI. I had an MRI of the brain at that time to investigate for acute bleeding, which revealed nothing remarkable. The MRI did reveal a random finding of multiple WMH in the subcortal and periventricular white matter. The diagnosis of which included: Small vessel ischemia, Migraines, possible demylination, or prior trauma.
Avatar n tn I have a serious concussion and I have strained my trapiuses muscle... I also have osgood schlatters in one leg and I can't run with out getting dizzy due to the concussion... I really need to work out ... I have been out for a month ... Please and thank you !
Avatar f tn I am not sure anyone will be able to answer accurately since a concussion is a jarring to the brain and what happens physically in/on the brain no one knows.
Avatar f tn There are gradations of concussion, and after the fact there is no way to compare and contrast the etiology. Just because a person has a "concussion" it does not mean they will develop seizures.
Avatar m tn I had a mild Traumatic Brain Injury and severe concussion 1 year 8 months ago. Post Concussion Syndrome followed after that and that is what probably your cousin's doctor call it. I have several symptoms and the worst is dizziness, heavy headed and fatigue. Been to many therapies, meds and no help. Right now I am trying some PT for my neck which seems to be causing my dizziness. I don't know and no one knows including specialists. It is tough to diagnose dizziness.
Avatar f tn I don't know if this is the right forum for this since it falls into a lot of different categories, but here it is: I have been having a lot nightmares and haven't been able to sleep a full night for the past year. The nightmares weren't too often, but they were often enough to be noticeable, and I don't believe I had many over the summer; the nightmares really started more frequently around winter break.
Avatar f tn My situation was some what similar. I didn't do exercise but went on to go to work and all. After 1 month my condition got extremely worse and still suffering for 2 years with PCS. No specialists even mentioned about rest. Strenuous body building sure would have made things worse. When it comes to Head Injury medicine is still in dark ages even though lot of progress made in the past few decades.
Avatar m tn Still has mood swings, ADD, and sleeplessness, but has made nice gains. He went on a flight to Scottland to visit a friend and seemed fine while in Scottland, but seemed to have regressed in symptoms when he returned home. Mood swings returned significantly and his choices and behaviors reflect significant impairment of executive function ability. I was wondering if the air pressure or altitude during his flight could have caused a set back if his symptoms?
Avatar m tn Hi anxiety860 Thanks for taking the time to read my post and reply. I wasn't boxing for long, only a couple of years and although I can't say whether I suffered a concussion, I can say for sure that I got dinged a couple of times in that time. What you have said makes sense, and I've tried to relate it to sports too and have thought about it in the same way. I wasn't a professional and I haven't had a career out of it.
Avatar f tn I was very dizzy, and I kept loosing memory and seemed to not make much sense in speech at the time, it took about 15 minutes before I could become stable and go home, though I was still loosing my memory this morning but I seem to be normal now. What could be the cause of the memory loss, and my eyes just being open but I was out cold, also I feel heavy pressure on the back of my head and my neck hurts. Should I see a doctor or it's nothing?
Avatar f tn t hurt, it seems to me, to find a neurologist who can test for post-concussion problems. Unfortunately, this isn't easy to diagnose or find and often takes years before it might show up on a diagnostic picture, but with all this going on, might be worth a try. Another problem, though, is, don't know if there's any cure for it. If he had childhood seizure disorder, how then can you be sure the wellbutrin caused the seizure?
Avatar n tn I took him to a neurolgist and was told that he would not be able to return to contact sports for 2 months. The doctor performed an examination and I was told my son was fine from the concussion. My son did not have a CATscan or MRI. Is 2 months considered excessive? My son did have a mild concussion this past fall as well.
Avatar m tn Hi. Sorry you are banging your head! Our head can take a lot of blows. Keep that in mind. We have a skull for protection. ER's are good for acute situations. I'm glad you got checked out. They did not see any acute signs of a brain injury. They are trained to do tests to determine this. I have kids in sports. Since you've had a concussion before, you know that a doctor does those to determine brain injury.
Avatar f tn Hello, Im almost 100% certain that it wouldnt be a concussion. Even though the back of the head is the worst spot you can get hit or fall on, you would still be having tremedous pain along with other symptoms like dizzyness, blurryness, tiredness. Im sure you just had a bit of a headache for awhile.
Avatar f tn Hello~To be on the side of safety, i would take her to her pediatrician and let him know what is going on, he/she might want to take some x-rays to make sure all is well. Another suggestion, take her to a chiropractor that specializes in children, most do anyway. She may have dislocated some vertebrae and that is the cause of the noise, etc. He/she will also take x-rays, study them and then go over the results.
Avatar f tn I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced severe light sensitivity this long after a concussion and what their diagnosis was or what they did to stop it.
Avatar n tn I am suffering from Post Concussion Syndrome for a year and have been to many Neurologists, ENT specialists, Neuro Surgeon etc., and no help so far. I have similar symptoms like your son and more. Neurologists mostly likely put your son on antidepressants (especially Elavil for headaches). Of course some have success but it is all trial and error approach since PCS is very tough to treat because of complex symptoms.
Avatar n tn The white of the brain takes up 60% and has to many things to describe in detail. A lesion can be any alteration to tissue. You must have hit your head pretty hard and likely suffered concussion along with possibly other interferences in your senses(eyes, ears, smell, taste etc...). The tissue may have been damaged and is kind of like a permanent scar that will not progress any further. That being said though, what caused them to do an MRI to see this?
Avatar m tn Stroke.
Avatar m tn the first day after a few hours of sleep i woke up with a plugged left ear feeling and a slight numbness on the left side of my face and the inability to focus i was dazed, on day 2 the inability to focus remains and i noticed that while walking and looking around my eyes un-focus and i get dizzy and nauseous for a few seconds and then i go back to normal all while still being kind of dazed and unfocused. is that normal? are those symptoms of concussion? will they go away alone with time?
Avatar f tn I suffered a concussion 4 months ago when I fell during a parade with my high school band. My mom took me to the ER and I was diagnosed with a concussion. I had a CT scan and nothing was out of the ordinary, and it seemed to just be a mild concussion. 4 months later, I'm still having issues. I'm a junior in high school and concentration and memory issues made me switch out of all of my honors classes into regular ones and drop both math and science completely.
Avatar f tn Each brain injury is unique and try to get some one who can listen to you and may be a concussion specialist if you can. I am even considering Stem Cell Therapy for which I have to travel outside U.S.A. Keep me posted if you can.
Avatar m tn My doctor said the same thing, it was do to the concussion and that I would be fine. I read in one of your post that your daughter was said to have Post-Concussion Syndrome after a head injury. I do not know how long ago that was but if you looked up what the doctor was talking about like I do when my kids health is involved. You might of seen that the syndrome can sometimes last over a year in some cases. As for epilepsy, I have it.
Avatar f tn It just gets tough to do things when you have problems seeing and your constantly off balance.
