Concussion and wake up

Common Questions and Answers about Concussion and wake up

concussion

Avatar m tn My concussion occurred 37 days ago when I slipped and fell backwards hitting the back of my head on a turf surface. In terms of the concussion recovery, I've been working with a concussion therapist to employ the practices of slowly getting back into activities without provoking symptoms. Unfortunately, I haven't seen much progress and may even have my symptoms come on earlier. I believe that this is related to sleep and neck issues that began about 18-20 days into the recovery.
Avatar f tn However, for the past two- three weeks, the nightmares have been every night and I wake up in the early mornings very scared. I have even been getting them now when my boyfriend is in bed with me, which takes away my "safety net" for having a full nights sleep. For my sleeping patterns, I usually wake up at 1, 3:30, 5:30, 7am, then finally at 8:00am every night. On better nights, it's only once. On nights that are worse, it's every hour starting at 1:30.
Avatar n tn Does that happen if the person has a long period of unconsciousness or just with any unconscoussness? if when they wake up they have a dazed and confused look on their face and then when they try to stand up they loos there balance should they be called and ambulance and be taken to hospital. At what point should a ct scan be done?
Avatar m tn I'm in highschool and during soccer i got a concussion, the doctors said my brain was fine in a cat scan but ever since I have had chronic migraines and headaches for a year now. I saw a neurologist and am on amitriptyline and zolmitriptan. It has reduced my headaches from everyday to four times a week and my migraines from twice a week to once a month. i found that also pushing myself through physical exercise helps too. I still cannot attend school though and am homeschooled as a result.
3161076 tn?1343698755 this is happening about 6times aday and then i sleep all night with out any problems. my boyfriend also said its hard to wake me up once fallen asleep. is this normal and when will i be able to stay awake for a whole day!?
Avatar f tn I thought nothing of it and went home. Now I wake up everyday with a headache, pain in my neck and feeling dizzy. As the day progresses the pain and dizziness go away, but cycle starts again after I've woken up. Should I be worried?
Avatar f tn For about two months I have been experiencing pain on my head about an inch behind my right ear. At first I`d wake up feeling like my husband had accidently punched me in the head during the night. And I noticed that my hearing was diminished in that ear. The ear wax is more watery and at times looks a little greenish with the yellow. The pain is intermittent but when it comes it stays for days and is a bothering dull pain.
Avatar n tn Last night, I was on the verge of sleep and I woke up feeling like I had a huge adrenaline rush. I got up and walked around and was shaking and chattering my teeth uncontrollably. I watched tv for an hour and went back to bed. I am always hot and flushed in my face for no obvoius reason. My hands and feet are cold and clammy and I get the chills throughout the day.
Avatar f tn I have tried over the years to be compassionate and understanding and have ended up with absolutely nothing in return but more lies, deceit and dissapointment. For years, I have researched, played psychologist and DEA agent. I have shown love, patience, anger, threats, ultimatums but to no avail. Let us not be confused, the initial decision was a CHOICE. Nothing more, nothing less. Diagnosis still stands with me as an unexplainable selfishness that rivals narcissism.
Avatar f tn Those eventually turned into blind spots. Still today I get clogged ears when I wake up, headaches on my eyebrows and sometimes eye pain when I’m congested. I also have bad hyperacusis, tinnitus, and sometimes I’m dizzy. When I cry my ears burn and get clogged now. After I got a sinus infection I also get non stop muscle spasms when I’m just laying down. When I turn my eyes side to side I see weird outlines, and when I go outside I see waterlike outlines in my eyes.
Avatar f tn when they got to me they said my eyes were wide open buh I was just staring into the sky there was no response nothing they tapped me to wake up but no response, they said I was out for about a minute before they splashed water on my face and I picked up consciousness.
Avatar m tn t had too many symptoms other than headaches and neck/back aches. Most of the symptoms went away, but after about 2 weeks, I would wake up in the morning and my left eye (the side I hit the majority of my head) will be SLIGHTLY blurry for a few minutes, but then it will go away. When I'm tired, I also experience a heavy feeling in my left eye. But the thing that makes me the most nervous is that the part of my left eye closest to my nose is VERY tender to touch.
Avatar m tn My 16 year old son was in a car wreck 5 1/2 days ago where he suffered a grade 2 moderate concussion. He was knocked unconscious for a short period of time & received a scalp laceration to the right side of his head . The CT scan discovered what the neurosurgeon described as a small thread size bleed. Later that day another CT scan was done & all signs of bleeding were gone & the blood had been absorbed. His stay in the hospital was for 3 days.
Avatar f tn These patients are often ones who have symptoms including a “lucid interval” which means they are struck in the head and have a short period of initial unconsciousness, wake up and seem better then seem to deteriorate. This is because of the gradual accumulation of blood in this area which presses on the brain over time. Subdural Hematoma is another possibility but less likely.

When I'm tired, I also experience a heavy feeling in my left eye. I usually have a controllable lazy eye with that same eye as well when I'm tired.
Avatar n tn Ever since then I have had severe headaches on the left side of my head and frequent dizziness. The headaches start on the left side of my neck and travel into my head. I wake up in severe pain everyday, and if I move my neck the wrong way or sleep the wrong way, I am severly dizzy all day. This has been very dibilatating during the past two years. I spent months in physical therapy and there was no real relief.
Avatar f tn I know the symptoms I have are a part of the concussion but they are bad (bec I already have the chiari symptoms) and it has been since Friday and I still feel HORRIBLE! I see a chiari specialist at the end of the month but in the mean time could this hitting my head on the wall possibly made things worse? (I did not have a ct for the concussion, the dr. just diagnosed me by my symptoms and what happened).
Avatar n tn found out 2 months later (after the feeling was starting to come back and I got black eyes) that I did indeed have a mild concussion and had to go for a CT Scan for possible nerve damage. I still do not have a lot of feeling in the spot that I got hit. He needs to go to a hospital and get checked out. They now say that the person can sleep after a concussion.
Avatar m tn I was involve in a very bad car accident 02/10 and have no memory of the actual wreck. the hospital deemed I have a severe concussion and then also diagnosed me with Post Concussion Syndrome. I am currently also experiencing back and neck problems as well as getting a collarbone checked out for a possible fracture. My question is does coffee effect concussion and PCS recovery. And how long does recovery generally take.
937759 tn?1245003945 I was also in a car accident where a car hit me head on on the motorway and can only describe what i get as migranes these come when i have had the troumour of thinking or having to talk about the accident, i will somtimes have nighmares about the accident and then wake up felling like my head is going to explode.
Avatar m tn I was in an auto accident earlier this year and had a concussion and whiplash. I was breastfeeding at the time, so I could not take the muscle relaxers that were prescribed. On a few occassions I had to take a break from breastfeeding in order to take the pills, because the pain was just too bad. I also underwent PT for about 6-8 weeks (e-stim, massage, excercises, ultrasound). It has been about four months since the accident occured and the pain has subsided for the most part.
Avatar f tn I had a concussion about two years ago from when I was hit by a truck, and now I have a traumatic brain injury, and like the first comment I take Topamax, which helps with the migraines a lot. But maybe your son should go see different doctors, and probably see the best doctors there are to offer.
Avatar f tn Well the past couple day I will wake up with a headache because of it and if I touch it I will get a head that goes to my eye, I have a bump, I will get random pains on top of my head every now or then. Should I be worried or go to the doctor about it?
Avatar f tn So the equivalent was that I was sleep deprived. As the sleep deprivation increased, so did the nausea and throwing up. They were directly related. Even a mild head injury such as whiplash can cause sleep disorders, I understand it is one of the most common causes actually.. I would think about something neurological, if nothing else works out.. sorry you are dealing with this.
Avatar m tn Most of the mornings I woke up with a gag and severe nausea. But as I wake up the sickness goes away and Im just left there awake and unable to sleep anymore. Also, one time, I woke up yelling, and again with a gag or two. Why is this happening? Im not sure if it's 'Sleep Apnea' or not, but I'd like some guidance or just a reason for it happening. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I have a pretty steady schedule, i go to sleep no later than 12.30 and i have to be up by 6.00 am. It has even happened to me to actually get up and do something and go right back to sleep and then not remember it at all. I don't know what to do about my problem and it has been a problem for some time now.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 16 and she can have 4 good days and then it is like light switch turned off. She will wake up vomiting and very sick. Her sugars can be good until she starts to vomit and then they go up to the 400's. This makes no sense to us. There is no way she can get the stomach virus this often. This happens about once a month and it is not around the time of her period. Has anyone had this happen before? IF so, let us know what you know.
