Concussion and wake up

Common Questions and Answers about Concussion and wake up

concussion

These patients are often ones who have symptoms including a “lucid interval” which means they are struck in the head and have a short period of initial unconsciousness, wake up and seem better then seem to deteriorate. This is because of the gradual accumulation of blood in this area which presses on the brain over time. Subdural Hematoma is another possibility but less likely.
Hey.. On June 25th 2009 i was in a car crash and got post concussion, had whip lash as well as takin about 4 blows to the head. (ie Hitting it on the frame of the car.) Went to ER. Been to 2 neurologists and all they seem to do is prescribe me pills. I have seem to notice i have memory loss. its really emotionally getting to me as well as effecting my job. I work in a resturant.
i hit my head pretty good, 1 the whip lash (i cant remember if i hit it on anything in my car) but as i was exiting to see what he did i smacked it on the metal bar getting out and then when the paramedic arrived i was laying in my car as they got me out the car he was holding my neck up right and i smacked it again on the metal bar getting out the car again.
Hi! Any persisting headache after a head injury should be investigated. However, any internal brain injury, usually also produces tingling/numbness/memory issues/vision problems etc apart from headaches or pains at the site of injury. Pain above the eye can also be due to refractive error of the eye. Sleep issues can be due to anxiety. You can take anti-anxiety medication at bed time. This may help you sleep better.
i get pressure on the back of the eyes and sometimes sharp pains inside my head when i try to lay down, and now sometimes the moment i fall asleep, i wake myself up with a strange twitch, a full body jerk accompanied with my heart jumping and shortness of breath. Some say its just allergies, but ive felt this way for four months now! My heart also has bothered me, but it might have been my wisdom tooth infection. I called 911 yesterday- I thought i was having a heart attack- and im only 18.
He adjusted it and instantly my headaches would go away but then I'd wake up in the middle of the night instantly thrown into a migraine. After a month and a half of these adjustments 3 times a week, we gave up on it and I stuck to medication and physical therapy. I would like to be able to return to school soon being that this time in my life is critical to my future and I'm wondering if my condition is reversable.

We went to the ER where we were told she had a concussion. CT Scan came back negative so we went home only to wake up the next day with memory loss and a stiff neck. Got an MRI and a EKG done in the following days and evrything came back negative here brain was perfectly fine. She gave birth to our 3rd son on April 1st and one Neurologist I talked to on a hotline told me that her hormones could have something to do with it.
During the healing process my eyes would tremor, I coudl feel my muscles being sore and weak in my head behind my eyes, and they would wake me up in the middle of the night with what I felt to be muscle problems. I also couldn't cry at the beginning partly due to the TBI but also becuase my tears werent there.. the nueroopth. said it was dry eyes and eye strain. Most everythign has gotten better but on an active day my eyes get really worse...I know when I have done too much.
My 16 year old son was in a car wreck 5 1/2 days ago where he suffered a grade 2 moderate concussion. He was knocked unconscious for a short period of time & received a scalp laceration to the right side of his head . The CT scan discovered what the neurosurgeon described as a small thread size bleed. Later that day another CT scan was done & all signs of bleeding were gone & the blood had been absorbed. His stay in the hospital was for 3 days.
All these symptoms are relentless and pretty much disabled me. Most frustrating is I don't know how my day will be when I wake up. It can be horrible or terrible. You are right about whiplash. I do think that may be causing lots of problems and PT helps a bit. I am thinking who should I go to next - Prolotherapy, Chiropractor or Craniosacral therapist. If I see any progress I sure update.
I was in an auto accident earlier this year and had a concussion and whiplash. I was breastfeeding at the time, so I could not take the muscle relaxers that were prescribed. On a few occassions I had to take a break from breastfeeding in order to take the pills, because the pain was just too bad. I also underwent PT for about 6-8 weeks (e-stim, massage, excercises, ultrasound). It has been about four months since the accident occured and the pain has subsided for the most part.
Wednesday night, I fell asleep within seconds, and my boyfriend tried to wake me up because he said it looked like I was having a nightmare, and was running in my sleep. It took him about 30 seconds of shaking me and repeting my name to wake me up. He had me get out of bed and I went into the kitchen talked to him for a few minuted, had some water, uised the bathroom and went back to sleep.
This is most likely to be due to concussion. You can do deep breathing exercises and exercises of neck and upper back. This will help reduce anxiety and neck strain. If still the symptoms persist then yes, CT scan will have to be done. Having said this, as a doctor who cannot examine you, I’ll feel better if you go for CT scan. The radiation from a single scan cannot harm you in any way. Take care!
so i have have dreams where i have gotten beaten up and i wake up the next morning with bruises where i got hit in my dream. Is it at all possible to to get a concussion from being hit i the head in your dreams...silly question but its serious because i woke up and had concussion symtoms of a severe concussion and now i dont know if it is possible to actually get a concussion from a dream.
The day after that my right eye started to really hurt and I had shooting pain from my forehead down right side of my face, and my ears felt like they needed to pop and my head was swimming and aching, again I took a paracetamol. I was a bit concerned so I thought if i wake up with a head ache tomorrow morning I should go to the doctors, but I woke up clear headed and fine.
CT and all came back clear. Other than the cuts and bruises, they diagnosed me with cervical strain and a concussion. I did hit my head-although I do not remember it but my helmet shows it & I am sore. I did not lose consciousness. I have been nauseous and dizzy ever since the accident and it has gotten worse. I feel dizzy just looking at things & when I close my eyes. I am taking Zofran for the nausea.

She has a lot of trouble falling asleep and has woke up 3 nights crying and saying she has an 'ouwie' of some sort and 2 of the nights has had a heck of a time going back to bed (including last night).. I am just so worried about her because she is only 2 years and 3 months old and can't tell me everything that she is feeling/thinking. Is there anything that anyone can think of that they are missing or should do?
I'm guilty of nursing on the couch and laying back a bit to rest on the pillow and fall asleep. I wake up and Holy Moses! I would have called the pediatrician in the morning. Hope the baby is okay.

Minimum 12 hours (sometimes 14 etc) and if no one wakes him up he'll wake up at 5-6 pm. He'd still feel sleepy. Is this normal?? Should he go check up or something??? He's nearly 17.
I tend to grind my teeth now and wake up with my teeth, jaw and neck hurting. When I sleep I have to lay on right side to ease the headache enough to rest. I have tried OTH meds for this but they do not seem to work anymore. I have had MRI’s and CAT scans in the past for all the other injuries, but not this last one. There is so much damage on right side from first accident when I was 12 that it is not much change when they do more.
I’ve taken more pain medication in the last two years than I ever have before for headaches and melatonin because I don’t sleep well. I rarely have a sound sleep and wake up all the time. I’ve been experiencing night sweats where I wake up drenched and soaked in sweat which I’ve never experienced before my concussions.
So the equivalent was that I was sleep deprived. As the sleep deprivation increased, so did the nausea and throwing up. They were directly related. Even a mild head injury such as whiplash can cause sleep disorders, I understand it is one of the most common causes actually.. I would think about something neurological, if nothing else works out.. sorry you are dealing with this.
Possibly a mild concussion, I hadn't been too concerned. I have fallen off plenty of times and had been to the hospital only to hear you're just sore, which is fine, but why pay to go every time to hear that. Its been around 9 months since that fall and ever since then my neck will get really stiff and the base of my skull hurts. This will last for a few days. When I did ask my regular doctor, he told me it was just tension headaches because I am stressed.
Just out of it. Last week I fainted without warning. Got a concussion. I also don't wake up well--more and more often I wake up dizzy and numb in the core and take about an hour to inch into a seated position, which lets the dizziness wane. I would love to know how all of this is happening. My neurologist appointment isn't until the 21st.
Of course, there's the whole other theory of; Just Surrender, Give Up and Join The Winning Side. For now, I'm still fighting. Yesterday's retreat made me strong today. So now my brain doesn't feel as much like a scrambled egg. It's working a bit better in there. Unless you count the apathy and lack of motivation, which is more than a little scary. I'm almost sure that I started taking Tramadol in 2003.
then i started usin again for a few months and two weeks ago i decided to not go in rehab n jus detox myself so i shut off my phone n got so sik for 7 days i dont kno y it takes me so long to detox it use to only take me 3 to 4 days my tolerance prob went up n my body cant take it but i was throwin up every 5 mins for 7 days staight i wanted to die but i kept tellin my self i was strong and could get thru it on my 7th day of wd i got in a fight in got a severe concussion where i was put in the h
For about the past two years or so i have been experiencing symptoms including fatigue and lack of concentration. I wake up in the morning everyday and immediately feel tired, I look tired all day long and never seem to feel good. I used to wake up every morning "shot out of a cannon" and now i forget what that feels like. About a year ago i started relying on caffeine because i could not stand being tired all the time, i have been off the caffeine for about 6 months now.
