Common Questions and Answers about Concussion and visual changes

concussion

Avatar n tn How are you feeling now? Have you seen a doctor about this? It almost sounds like you may have gotten a concussion besides injuring your shoulder. Because of the headaches, difficultly with memory, trouble concentrating, nausea, feeling "fuzzy," sleep changes, visual changes, I suggest you get checked out by a doctor, preferably a neurologist if you can...otherwise your PCP.
Avatar m tn I suffered a concussion about 3 weeks ago. I had a CT scan that came back normal. At this point, all of my symptoms are pretty much resolved. My only issue is that my right eye has more floaters than usual and it has an abnormal "heavy" feeling compared to my left. There aren't visual changes (other than the floaters) and I'm not feeling any pain. Just a general and constant feeling of heaviness in my right eye/eye lid, which is not noticeable upon looking at my face.
280234 tn?1532986249 The things you're experiencing sound just like an ocular migraine to me. I get these every once and a while and they can last all day sometimes. I'll see spots in my vision and little waves at the corners of my eyes. Kinda like when you look at the heat coming off of a car or the road. If I try to read with one of these I can hardly see past the spots and miss the letters.
Avatar n tn My main concentration would be on the health of the eyes, and in particular the visual accuity and visual field. If normal, that would be a major plus after such a severe accident. Then you could move forward with some possible physical therepy to help with the recovery from the blunt trauma to the head and neck.
Avatar m tn 10 days ago I suffered a concussion due to a fall after fainting. We don't know how long I was unconscious (I was alone), but it was no more than 10-15 minutes. I was unable to remember anything regarding the actual injury (i.e. where I hit the back of my head) or my trip to the hospital and the ER until about an hour before I was discharged. I 'lost" about 3 hours in total.
Avatar m tn Hey. I suffered a mild concussion in january 2010 and am still suffering w PCS. I too have vision problems. More like just harlot focus and my eyes don't move well with my head movements. I have been outbid any physical activity since the incident. How are you doing now?
Avatar m tn I woke up one morning in early july extremely fatigued and weak just out of the blue. I had a full 8 hours of sleep but couldn't pull myself out of bed. My husband watched our 2 kids and I went back to bed for 2 hours. Husband woke me up and had to help me to the bath. Leaning on the wall and then on him to make it happen. Water helped muscles relax a bit but became up comfortable about 10 to 15 minutes in.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have been having a visual problem over the past 3 1/2 months that is really bothering me. It is kind of hard to describe, it's kind of like when you press on your eyes for a few seconds and afterwards you see things weird. Some adjectives could be static-like, or fuzziness. One thing to note is that i still have 20/20 vision with my contacts in. Also when i look at something bright(like the sky), i see things that look like comets, or fireflys.
Avatar f tn I was just concerned that it might be a slight concussion since he had hit hard the whole night and said that one hit made his head feel like it was vibrating :-) I told him to go to the school nurse if it didn't get better in 30 minutes. I just wasn't sure if I was overreacting or not doing enough. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Sounds like a concussion and she should be checked. Anytime a person has dizziness, severe headache, visual disturbances or vomiting after a head impact, they need to be seen. I hope it all turns out to be minor but even with that, she may feel crummy for a couple more days.
Avatar n tn This could be due to a smell getting trapped by nasal polyps or tumors. Sinusitis with post nasal drip can cause both a phantom smell and nausea and this should be investigated first by an ENT. Since it can be something serious, you should be seen by a psychiatrist, ENT specialist and a neurologist. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar m tn This loss of vision in the peripheral visual field can be due to optic nerve damage caused by glaucoma, high internal eye pressure, retinal detachment, occlusion of blood supply as in eye stroke, optic neuritis, and optic nerve edema. Tunnel vision is also possible after a history of head injury, concussion, brain damage and stroke, though all these causes may not be applicable in your son's case. Do discuss this with your son's doctor. Take care!
Avatar m tn s been a year since his last concussion and he is making slow progress, but progress. Still has mood swings, ADD, and sleeplessness, but has made nice gains. He went on a flight to Scottland to visit a friend and seemed fine while in Scottland, but seemed to have regressed in symptoms when he returned home. Mood swings returned significantly and his choices and behaviors reflect significant impairment of executive function ability.
Avatar n tn When she was nine another child accidentiaily bumped her in the head, she passed out, we took her to the ER, she was diagnosed with a concussion. Could this have created an issue and what can we do to help resolve it?
Avatar f tn He was intoxicated when he suffered the concussion and was admitted to hospital. While at the hospital he was put on an IV and he did not know where he was. He thought he was in Spain despite being in Nottingham. The doctor wanted to keep him in overnight but the idiot best man did he best to get my husband released after a few hours. I was not there so I do not know what the doctor recommended for after care and as the best man was intoxicated as well only god know what was advised.
Avatar m tn m desperate for advice on my situation, regarding my concussions, and the results following them. Earlier in March, I had a concussion working at home, and had the natural brain fog that comes with it, so I tried to rest as much as possible even though I was still working. Unfortunately while I was still dealing with the effects from the first, I hit my head 3 other times, making things obviously much worse. I had a ct scan after the first 2, with no actual noted findings.
Avatar f tn Results was I have a concussion, now post concussion syndrom .I have some pressure in my forehead and headaches on the front and side of my forehead. I do have a Neurologist I'm seeing. I'm looking for another opinion. Thank You. in land of Lincoln.
Avatar m tn I was involve in a very bad car accident 02/10 and have no memory of the actual wreck. the hospital deemed I have a severe concussion and then also diagnosed me with Post Concussion Syndrome. I am currently also experiencing back and neck problems as well as getting a collarbone checked out for a possible fracture. My question is does coffee effect concussion and PCS recovery. And how long does recovery generally take.

Avatar m tn Sometimes it occurs because the cornea is changing shape during sleep due to lack of oxygen, visual changes before and after wearing contact lens are common problems, vision also changes due to systemic problems like the fluctuating vision of a poorly controlled diabetic. Your last paragraph sounds like presbyopia which is the loss of focus problem due to age. This would be far and away the most common problem if you are aged 38-45.
