concussion

Avatar m tn Healing or recovering from a concussion takes time and may take weeks or even months. Headaches, dizziness, irritability and concentration problems may be observed. Symptoms such as changes in speech, seizure, vomiting, double vision or blurred vision, fever and headache that is getting worse, lasts a long time, or does not get better with over-the-counter pain relievers may warrant immediate follow-up with your doctor. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn s I have seen have done blood work and ruled out thyroid problems, low iron, diabetes and systemic infection. I had a concussion 6 months ago and one doc said it could be related. I am really worried and haven't been able to work much due to this. Anyone else out there experience any of this before??
Avatar m tn If you develop nausea, vomiting, excess sleep, severe headache, difficulty in walking and balance, tremors, seizures, vision problems, ringing in ears etc then consult a doctor immediately. These symptoms develop if there is a brain injury or bleed. Otherwise this pressure will go in a few days. However, it is important to get a medical evaluation. So please consult your doctor once. Take care!
Avatar m tn Hey. I suffered a mild concussion in january 2010 and am still suffering w PCS. I too have vision problems. More like just harlot focus and my eyes don't move well with my head movements. I have been outbid any physical activity since the incident. How are you doing now?
Avatar m tn I have severe post-concussion syndrome for almost 15 months now. Already had neck/back therapies post neck surgery & C6-7 fusion 7 years prior, which may be from car accident & TBI 15 years prior to that. Yes, loss of curvature normal kyphosis of neck is a problem that inhibits concussion recovery, as does lack of quality sleep for the brain to heal. Yes, gentle chirpractic has help for me, but stay away from "strengthening exercises" and overdoing physical therapy.
Avatar n tn Anyway, I hit the left side of my head on the door before the side air bags went off and suffered from a blow to the head and a slight concussion. Since that accident, I have had severe eye issues including pain behind my left eye, headaches that leave me irritable everyday, sensitivity to light, occasional blurred vision and spots. I had gone to my Opthalmolgists who diagnosed me with Optic-neuritis.
Avatar m tn My daughter has hit her eye and we are worried about a concussion.
Avatar n tn If it is unbearable you can take over the counter pain killers. If you have balancing problems, vision problems, fainting attacks or vomiting, then immediately consult your doctor. Don’t worry! You will soon be your normal self. Since you are tired, irritable and restless, get your blood pressure checked. Take care!
Avatar n tn I am suffering from Post Concussion Syndrome for a year and have been to many Neurologists, ENT specialists, Neuro Surgeon etc., and no help so far. I have similar symptoms like your son and more. Neurologists mostly likely put your son on antidepressants (especially Elavil for headaches). Of course some have success but it is all trial and error approach since PCS is very tough to treat because of complex symptoms.
Avatar m tn Having your head banged and suffering from concussion is very serious. It will take approximately 6 weeks or more for you to start to feel more normal. Any symptoms like headache that you didn't feel before, memory problems, vomiting, swelling and any vision problems should be seen to urgently. There is still a risk of haemorrhage within the skull and because of this it is wise to seek medical advice. Get someone to take you to the hospital, don't go on your own.
Avatar n tn It makes it really hard to read as the text seems to be hard to focus on with the said vision thing interfering. it has been happening on and off for a few years now, I would say one to four times a month. Also i remember similar vision problems when i blacked out from dehydration quite a few years ago. as of now i am completely hydrated with no ill symptoms beside the vision inturrupting my work.
Avatar f tn I am 18 years old. I have limited peripheral vision, seeing only in black and white when at all. I have limited depth perception and am unable to tell exactly how close things are. I have incredible sensitivity to light and am unable to keep my eyes open in sunlight or under fluorescent lighting. I constantly have floaters in my vision. I cannot tell the difference between some blue's, gray's and green's.
Avatar n tn This loss of vision in the peripheral visual field can be due to optic nerve damage caused by glaucoma, high internal eye pressure, retinal detachment, occlusion of blood supply as in eye stroke, optic neuritis, and optic nerve edema. Tunnel vision is also possible after a history of head injury, concussion, brain damage and stroke, though all these causes may not be applicable in your case. Headaches are very common symptoms of eye problems.
703821 tn?1231722095 You may have a cranial nerve palsy--perhaps a 3rd, 4th, or 6th nerve causing double vision. If the double vision is horizontal--side by side--and is worse in the distance than up close, it is probably a 6th nerve palsy. This can be caused by the brain banging into the 6th nerve at the base of the cranial cavity during the injury but it can also be a harbinger of increased intracranial pressure. You didn't say whether you had an MRI. You may need one.
Avatar f tn and he bouts with nausea a lot. He has vision problems with convergence and explains that his brain feels "wound too tightly" and he then sees life in "snapshots"..ie, he sees blocks of vision when looking at things and his eyes fatigue after 15 min. His appetite is not good and in the last 2 yrs since surgery, he is 30 lb lighter. One piece to the story is that he is an athlete that excels and was advised he could go back to playing football 6 months after surgery.
Avatar f tn re supposed to take it easy after a concussion and orgasm raises your BP and all. Most of my symptoms of the concussion have gone away, aside from double vision. Thoughts?
Avatar m tn Again it is too early to say it is Post Concussion Syndrome. I am suffering from Post Concussion Syndrome and it is worse. Give some time to heal before you start any activities and you will be fine. Doctors didn't tell me to take rest and I returned to activities soon and on disability now. Good luck.

Avatar f tn Light sensitivity, trouble focusing at near, difficulty concentrating, blurred vision are part of the post concussion syndrome. Not every person has every symptom and not every clears at the same rate. If you need glasses for distance generally you are myopic or nearsighted. That is not due to concussion. You should be seen by an Eye MD ophthalmologist for a medical eye exam.
Avatar n tn If are having nausea, vomiting, excess sleep, severe headache, difficulty in walking and balance, tremors, seizures, vision problems, ringing in ears etc then consult a doctor immediately.
Avatar m tn Symptoms can range from passing out, confusion, coordination and balance problems; nausea etc. post concussion syndrome develops over time and is worse than before injury. Symptoms are headaches or blurry vision. Others include changes in the ability to think, sleep changes, personality changes, becoming anxious or angry for no reason, changes in sex drive, dizziness, light headedness or unsteadiness.
Avatar n tn I am 31 years old with no previous hx of eye problems- 20/20. Today for about 20 mintues my right eye's field of vision becam wavy, first starting in the periphery and then the whole field. It did not accompany a headache or loss of vision. It cleared eventually and has been fine for last few hours. I take concerta 54mg, zyrtec and vitamins everyday. Who should I see?
Avatar f tn I literally have to move themwith my fingers to get them goign in the middle of the night or in the morning..and this is all since concussion. I will definitely go to the link you sent.
Avatar m tn t hard, but enough to knock my head back a bit, but certainly not enough to knock me out. After a few seconds I started getting blurred vision and then a flash of images began passing before me. I was still conscious but almost out. After about 30 seconds I regained my sight and the images stopped, but I still had a hard time recognizing who was in front of me. After about five minutes I was fine, just a headache. I didn't think much more about it until last week.
Avatar n tn Dear knothome, Amblyopia is a disease in which vision is impaired, the retina appears normal and the vision is not corrected by glasses or contact lenses. I would recommend an examination by an eyeMD or if you think may be related to the concussion, I would recommend a neuro-ophthalmologist. Dr. Feldman Sandy T. Feldman, M.D., M.S.
Avatar f tn I noticed i couldn’t hear anything, i could see my roommate talking and i knew i was screaming but i couldn’t hear anything for about 5-7 seconds. And my vision was in black and white for about 2 seconds. My roommate said my eyes went wavy, not rolled to back of my head, and then i fell sideways and hit my head on our dishwasher. Dishwasher has a dent. So, since this incendient weird things have accrued.
