Avatar f tn Im still suffering from memory loss, focus and concentration issues, attention problems, and a constant headache. How long should or could this last?? If relevant, I'm 38.
Avatar f tn I used to be calm and happy, and now I get very easily irritated, and angry at small things. I know part of the irritability is due to the frustrations of forgetting everything, and the constant pain I experience in my neck and back, but it is worse than it should be. I don't know what to do about my problems. Will my memory of that night ever come back?
Avatar m tn Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. Injury to olfactory and lingual nerves of smell and taste could be a cause or it could be that nerves are in shock. Once swelling and contusion following the fall will subside some taste and smell may return. However, when this will happen is difficult to say.
Avatar n tn There are a couple of practical things emergency staff do when assessing the degree of head trauma a person has had following concussion - one is called GSC scale - where they ask a series of questions that reveal how orientated you are - goes up to 15. &/15 is severe, above 13 is mild and the middle scores are moderate. They usually do this asap after losing consciousness and then repeat it until you have no problems with the answers.
Avatar f tn In this condition, additional medicines like benzodiazepines (xanax) can lead to a transient phase of disorientation and short term anterograde memory loss. The events happening after the event are forgotten. This is a known phenomenon. So, if you are in trouble from the police (which I hope you are not), this is your defense. Transient global amnesia is a term used some times for such a condition.
Avatar n tn I am sorry to hear about your husband. The memory loss could just be due to concussion which at times persists for years and all of a sudden disappears and the person remembers everything. This does not have any long term complications. The person just needs support from family members and has to learn to live with the memory loss. Memory loss is also a common symptom of frontal lobe injury. Damage to the frontal lobe of the brain causes frontal encephalomalacia.
Avatar n tn s worth as a child I suffered a severe concussion with loss of consciousness and a fractured skull and recovered completely with no loss of mental function.
Avatar m tn Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere. In absence of these symptoms and based on the history a diagnosis of concussion is given.
Avatar f tn This is going to be a long story.. Back on the 9th of June, a small Roku remote landed on my head, later on that day I was in the shower and I patted my head with the bottom of my wrist in the same area the remote landed to straighten my hair out. I did experience nausea and a few headaches and even some memory loss here and there, but I'm not totally sure if that had anything to do with the remote landing on my head or my patting my head.
Avatar f tn The symptoms too vary from person to person. Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere. Avatar n tn She then attempted to vomit unsuccesfully many times before fading in and out of concsiousness. Is that concussion or is it more serious??
Avatar f tn This lobe is associated with mood and memory. Thus any damage to this lobe can lead to long term memory loss, mood swings, talking too much, and energy bursts leading to over activity. Long term complication is chance of schizophrenia. Encephalomalacia is not an illness. It is basically a softening of the brain matter as a result of an ischemia or infarction, degenerative changes, infection, craniocerebral trauma, or other injury. In your case it could be the blow to the front.
Avatar f tn when they got to me they said my eyes were wide open buh I was just staring into the sky there was no response nothing they tapped me to wake up but no response, they said I was out for about a minute before they splashed water on my face and I picked up consciousness.
Avatar m tn Can a person who is concussed and reports no LOC actually be experiencing a LOC at that time? I was concussed and was diagnosed with a Moderate Concussion in the ER and have no recollection of anything during that time. Is all this possible?
Avatar f tn Symptoms are variable including dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, light and noise sensitivity, headache varying from a tension type to cluster headaches. You need to consult a neurologist immediately. no single test can prove the syndrome and the doctor may ask for a MRI scan to detect brain abnormalities, ear pathologies need to be ruled out since a lot of dizziness is there and psychiatrist to rule out anxiety and depression.
Avatar n tn If so, can you tell me what type of tasks doctor asked to patient to perform and how can they assess memory loss? In addition, can you explain the theory behind these tests?
Avatar f tn 4 days ago a guy ran into me and hit the right side of my head with his shoulder (he was taller than me) I was ok afterwards, no memory loss or nausea, except for a headache. I thought nothing of it and went home. Now I wake up everyday with a headache, pain in my neck and feeling dizzy. As the day progresses the pain and dizziness go away, but cycle starts again after I've woken up. Should I be worried?
Avatar f tn Again there are cases where it is considered Concussion and suffered from memory loss, executive functioning etc., MRIs/CT scans can only show gross injuries and not at ultra-microscopic level. You can get an MRI and find out if you have any of that but it won't give how many lost. Just look out for symptoms and if there is nothing noticeable you just keep moving on.

Avatar f tn s better to catch it, but it could be something as simple as a deficiency you are experiencing, promoting memory loss. Stress can also play a huge role in our lives and on our bodies. Just get checked out to be safe.
