Common Questions and Answers about Concussion and fatigue

concussion

Avatar f tn Each brain injury is unique and try to get some one who can listen to you and may be a concussion specialist if you can. I am even considering Stem Cell Therapy for which I have to travel outside U.S.A. Keep me posted if you can.
Avatar m tn ve had concussion symptoms (headache/dizziness/fatigue/sleepiness/mental fatigue/brain fog/difficulty concentrating/feeling out of it). I did not hit my head, but I did sort of brace it/try to hold it in place while we stopped. Is it possible to get a concussion just from slamming on the brakes at 65 miles per hour?
Avatar f tn I have been sitting and talking with him when it seems as though severe fatigue washes over him, and immediately the headaches begin. He will be down and out for about three days when they hit him. He has already missed 16 days of school this year due to the headaches. He had a CAT Scan and MRI which all seem normal. The pediatric neurologist gave him Amitriptoline, which makes his headaches worse. The Neurologist does not believe this.
Avatar m tn Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere. In absence of these symptoms and based on the history a diagnosis of concussion is given.
Avatar m tn Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. Injury to olfactory and lingual nerves of smell and taste could be a cause or it could be that nerves are in shock. Once swelling and contusion following the fall will subside some taste and smell may return. However, when this will happen is difficult to say.
Avatar f tn I had a metal iron shelf fall on my head at work 4 months ago, got a concussion and ended up with post traumatic concussion syndrome. He needs to go to the doctor!!!!! He needs to have a CT or MRI to check for headbleeding then he needs to see a neurologist and let them run test!!!!! It's so important. They told me if I hit my head again I'll have permanent damage.
Avatar f tn They gave me medicine and it helped. Then I went to a neurologist and he said it was post concussion syndrome. Then I went to another neurologist and he said it was my ears. So I went to physical therapy and he said it wasn't my ears. I'm so confused now. Can someone please help??:( any suggestions on what it is? Or is it pcs? I've had mris cts eegs and tons of bloodwork everything was normal.
Avatar f tn I have taken many MRIs (with and without contrast) after my mild Traumatic Brain Injury and diagnosed with Post Concussion Syndrome. Faced no problems with contrast. Very rarely I heard people cannot tolerate the contrast. Some labs do a Creatine (?) test before giving contrast. You can ask your lab about that. I have been suffering with Post Concussion Syndrome for 2+ years now. Headaches, nausea, dizziness, fatigue etc., and my symptoms got worse only after 5 weeks.
1614777 tn?1298483489 Yes, if you have brain fog too, then apart from concussion liver and kidney disorders or chronic fatigue syndrome should be ruled out.
Avatar f tn My depression is due to the reason I cannot go out and do things as I used to do because of headaches, dizziness, fatigue and lost my smell and taste because of the head injury, has non-stop tinnitus etc., I struggle with suicidal thoughts too and I tried anit-depressants but made things worse since my underlying cause was not resolved. But yours may be a different reason since you already had those thoughts and concussion aggravated it. But you can get help.
Avatar n tn She then attempted to vomit unsuccesfully many times before fading in and out of concsiousness. Is that concussion or is it more serious??
435918 tn?1204737341 m kind of fed up and tired of feeling this way... headache, fatigue, jaw pain, etc. I am supposed to see a neurologist on 3/13, but the girl in his office said not to tell him I had been involved in a MVA because he won't see me if he knows. I just don't know where to go from here. I've never been hurt in a MVA before and just feel like I'm getting the "run around" from everyone. Do you have any suggestions for me? I sure would appreciate some advice. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I had an x-ray yesterday which showed no fracture, however I now feel worse than I did yesterday with disorientation (I try to walk in one direction and go in the other), dizzyness, fatigue, my limbs feel like led weights, my fingers are tingling. I have an increasingly worse headache and am feeling very nauseous.Things are starting to get very difficult to make sense of! And its becoming quite difficult to focus on things...everything has a blurry edge to it. My pupils are like pin pricks.
Avatar n tn Dear Post Traumatic Concussion Thank you for submitting your question. I will answer your concerns to the best of my abilities, but please be informed that I am unable to offer a diagnosis based on your history and list of symptoms. I am limited in not having the opportunity to perform a full neurologic examination on your son, nor am I able to review the pertinent imaging.
Avatar n tn My 13yo is 1year post concussion still with all the symptoms you described and not in school. AND has a cyst on her pituitary gland. She'll be doing more blood work and seeing a neurosurgeon. Do they think your tumor is related to the concussion? Is there a connection to the symptoms? Just read that the symptoms are similar to those of a concussion. thanks.
Avatar f tn I suffered a concussion 4 months ago when I fell during a parade with my high school band. My mom took me to the ER and I was diagnosed with a concussion. I had a CT scan and nothing was out of the ordinary, and it seemed to just be a mild concussion. 4 months later, I'm still having issues. I'm a junior in high school and concentration and memory issues made me switch out of all of my honors classes into regular ones and drop both math and science completely.
Avatar f tn My Daughter is 17 and got a concussion almost a year ago. She starting passing out 5 days later. She passes about 5 days a week with no warning or symptoms beforehand. She also has lots of nausea, dizzyness, fatigue, headaches, loss of appetite, and sometimes shaky hands. We have had multiple MRI's, MRA, CT scans, full cardio work ups several times including tilt table tests, heart monitor, stress test, ultra sounds of kidneys, bladder and ovaries, blood work. All coming back normal.
Avatar n tn My other symptoms are slight memory loss, laziness, fatigue, and lack of concentration. I went to my physician and he did lots of blood work on me and then i went in for a sleep study where we ruled out sleep apnea, i also went to a neurologist and he said there was nothing wrong with me. I have had an mri of my head and there was nothing wrong there. If anybody has any information for me or any ideas of what this could be, please post.
Avatar m tn I was involve in a very bad car accident 02/10 and have no memory of the actual wreck. the hospital deemed I have a severe concussion and then also diagnosed me with Post Concussion Syndrome. I am currently also experiencing back and neck problems as well as getting a collarbone checked out for a possible fracture. My question is does coffee effect concussion and PCS recovery. And how long does recovery generally take.
Avatar n tn I have a pretty good knot on my head still and know I had a concussion (dizziness, fatigue, nausea/vomiting and headache). Well.. today my head still hurts, but I am noticing pain in my ear as well still. That began last night. Since I do not have insurance, I am wondering if I should be concerned and seek treatment. Please advise!
Avatar m tn I had a mild Traumatic Brain Injury and severe concussion 1 year 8 months ago. Post Concussion Syndrome followed after that and that is what probably your cousin's doctor call it. I have several symptoms and the worst is dizziness, heavy headed and fatigue. Been to many therapies, meds and no help. Right now I am trying some PT for my neck which seems to be causing my dizziness. I don't know and no one knows including specialists. It is tough to diagnose dizziness.
Avatar f tn I have been experiencing intense tingling sensations throughout my body, heat intolerance, fatigue, dizziness, insomnia, and increased salivation. I had a fall in Jan. 2010 with a hairline fracture at C3 and concussion. I experienced a "thunderclap" headach in May 2010. I was sent to the ER. The MRI showed nothing. The LP showed only that I had a possible virus. I was also given ECG...and stress test. It is not cardiac.
Avatar m tn s had a headache, dizziness, and fatigue for 12 days. A visit to his GP 5 days ago indicated he may have a slight ear infection so he was prescribed a z-pack, but his symptoms have gotten worse. Last night we went to the ER and a head and neck CT scan found nothing, but he was kept overnight for observation, then discharged him with no real conclusion. His blood pressure and white blood count were normal.
Avatar f tn Yesterday I suffered mild blow to the head. I have hit my head many times before, much harder than yesterday and yet, I've never experienced any symptoms that might be indicative of concussion. Yesterday, however, I felt a bit dizzy for a few minutes immediately after having been hit. Also, 15 minutes following the blow, I started to feel a bit nauseated.
Avatar f tn Nearly a year ago, I was the victim of a rear end crash. Since the accident, I have very little energy. I have a physical job, and also do all the outside work at home. Now, I seen to be in slow motion, and tire very easily. I'm 43, 6ft tall, and weigh 270. Other than nagging knee injuries, I have no health issues. Everything seems to stem from this accident.
Avatar f tn I suffered a concussion on Jan. 3rd and had just a bad headache,a little dizziness and a lump on the back of my head. Then a few days to a week the dizziness got alot worse, i became unsteady on my feet, developed ringing in my ears, nausea and the headache got worse. I've had an MRI and CT Scan and both were fine. Now I'm having a little problem with remembering names and other little things, plus I've noticed that loud noises and bright lights seem to bother me too.
