I do not have any sort of cognitive issues though. Could this be a concussion? I do get migraines, and this headache does feel a bit like a migraine, but I am worried because I did hit my head. Should I be concerned? I do not feel awful right now, other than the headache. Thanks!

I also hit the back of my head and had a severe concussion and brain contusion (bruising of brain) 1 year 10 months ago and still suffering with 24/7 dizziness, stuffy head, ringing in ears etc., When it comes to Post concussion syndrome it is really a collections of many many symptoms and confusing. You are only 3 weeks away so it may be too early to call it and most people recover within few weeks or months. I am the unlucky one.
If the head injury is serious there can be a tinkling sensation due to a head and neck injury...symptoms of a concussion can be subtle and may not be immediately apparent. Symptoms and that includes a headache can last for days, weeks or even longer.
You may want to see a doctor depending on the severity of a blow to the head that can cause a blood clot.
G'day. I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right area-don't know where else to put it. I've had a concussion for about 9 days now with "usual, mild-average" symptoms. The last couple days have been like the first couple days, cannot rest my head at night from the pain, taking two 650 mg Tylenols when I think of it, also seem more confused & forgetful (before major loss of sleep). The last 48 hrs. I've slept for 40 min's.
I have contusion and concussion. I know when inflammation is coming on in my head or that it feels like it. I was told to take only "Tylenol" for inflammation of the head and Ibuprofen for Inflammation in the body, as told by my physician. And in minutes it seems to improve. and I know that after physical work such as lifting or ironing, lately I get nausea and dizziness as the result. Be careful.
Yes, a TBI can cause loss of taste and smell. This can be a part of concussion. If this is so, there is a chance of recovery once the effects of concussion wear off, which may take a few years at times. Also the loss of smell could be due to injury to the nose causing a blockage inside the nose. Hence an ENT consultation is a must to rule this out.
The other possibility is injury to nerves or the center in the brain. Generally the taste goes away because of loss of smell.

hi i have a cat about five years old i was holding her when she wriggled out of my grip she fell maybe a metre and a bit right on to her head ,after the fall she slowly got up but was wobbly and now she keeps itchting the part of her head that she fell on and is a little slow .I keep asking my mother to take her to the vet but shes insisting that shes fine. An MRI and CT found no bleeding or damage, but from the very moment it happened both hands, feet and face cheeks have been numb and he lost strenght in his hands. He has been doing physical thearpy about 4 weeks and is slowly gaining his strength back but still has all of the numbness. He had another MRI on 3-24-09 and the Dr. said it showed no signs of nerve damage and everything looks normal. The Dr. keeps telling us the numbness should go away in 2-6 months.

I was involve in a very bad car accident 02/10 and have no memory of the actual wreck. the hospital deemed I have a severe concussion and then also diagnosed me with Post Concussion Syndrome. I had a similar injury and had brain contusion (temporal and frontal lobes) happened 1 year 8 months ago and had lot of constant symptoms still (dizziness, head aches, fatigue etc.,) plus distorted sense of smell and taste. Mine is bizarre lately since it keeps changing through out the day and gets some what better in the night (meaning I can slightly have normal smell and taste). In the beginning it was so worse.
I went to the doctor that night at an urgent care center and asked me a few questions and palpated and checked my eyes and ears for bleeding. He told me I have a contusion (bruise). I did not even get an x-ray. I am currently a student in massage and understand that head injuries whether they are minor or not should be treated as serious just to rule out anything. I didn't have typical symptoms like nausea or dizziness or blackouts. Just tenderness in the spots hit.
Then after one month condition got worse and they called it as Post Concussion Syndrome and then all hell broke and it is a long story. Usually doctors don't give any attention to this condition since it is not life threatening or disabling considering so many other things goes with head trauma.
Now coming to loss of smell and taste I lost it (rather distorted) and all food smelled like smoke or weird smell. I did notice some bleeding from nose a day after my fall.
