concussion

Avatar f tn Do you think he had a concussion/minor traumatic brain damage? Can this kind of impact be enough to cause concussion? Thanks for reading!
Avatar m tn Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. Injury to olfactory and lingual nerves of smell and taste could be a cause or it could be that nerves are in shock. Once swelling and contusion following the fall will subside some taste and smell may return. However, when this will happen is difficult to say.
Avatar m tn Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere. In absence of these symptoms and based on the history a diagnosis of concussion is given.
Avatar f tn I had a metal iron shelf fall on my head at work 4 months ago, got a concussion and ended up with post traumatic concussion syndrome. He needs to go to the doctor!!!!! 16465326 tn?1448202692 The attending Physician said I checked out neurologically and did not order a CT scan of my brain. A concussion was her diagnosis. Since the fall I have had the following symptoms: 1. Whiplash as my sternocleidomastoid muscles in the front of my neck have seized up and are extremely sore. Especially bad in the morning upon waking until I get going through my day. 2. Extremely irritable as the smallest of things seem to enrage me. Not emblematic of my normal behavior..3.
Avatar n tn Some people may manifest the symptoms longer and the condition is termed as post concussion syndrome. Repeated concussions are known to double the risk. So, please have him evaluated to rule out this condition. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar f tn I suffered a concussion 4 months ago when I fell during a parade with my high school band. My mom took me to the ER and I was diagnosed with a concussion. I had a CT scan and nothing was out of the ordinary, and it seemed to just be a mild concussion. 4 months later, I'm still having issues. I'm a junior in high school and concentration and memory issues made me switch out of all of my honors classes into regular ones and drop both math and science completely.
Avatar n tn She then attempted to vomit unsuccesfully many times before fading in and out of concsiousness. Is that concussion or is it more serious?? she went to hospital i dont really know her but i want to know if she is ok!
Avatar n tn Did I suffer a true concussion? Since I never had any LOC, No confusion, NO amnesia Do I need imaging studies How do I manage the lightheadedness? How long will my symptoms last? Is Chronic Subdural Hematoma a possibility even though the trauma trivial?

Avatar m tn t have any confusion or any other symptom and I went playing and finished the match. ( the rest of the people present didn't see at as very serious either). Afterwards there was some swelling at the point of impact and of the muscle that is situated there. Now, what complicates things is that I had done some reading about concussions and the related symptoms(I am a medical student) and I was really hoping not to have one since I'd read it can cause lasting impairments.
937759 tn?1245003945 The signs and symptoms of a concussion may last for days, weeks or even longer. This include confusion, headache, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, memory problems, sensitivity to light and noise, sleep disturbances and irritability. In addition to this, post-traumatic headaches, especially from motor vehicles share many symptoms with primary headaches. If your medications do not help, have this evaluated further by your doctor. Prescription medications may also be indicated.
Avatar f tn I got a lump on back of my head after injury..that part is still tender and gives me pain and nausea so my dr. recommends me to get MRI of my head..but I think that will also go along with rest of the symtoms..what do u suggest?
711344 tn?1230760038 Or if they had problems taking thoughts from their head to their mouth or paper. I mean to say one word and at times come out with something totally different and I have started switching letters around when writing. Such as, instead of writing the word MUCH I instead would write MUHC and at times have substituted the number 6 for the letter S. If anyone out there has these same symptoms or knows more about it please let me know.
Avatar f tn In absence of these symptoms and based on the history a diagnosis of concussion is given. Not all concussions need a CT scan immediately. Hence your doctor has asked you to wait and watch. A CT scan is a must for any type of head injury if you are above 65 years of age, for whiplash injuries, roadside accidents, persistent vomiting, seizures etc. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
12128836 tn?1423574148 Think of a soldier who gets a RPG explosion near him and afterwards vomits and has severe headaches and states of confusion and these symptoms can last on and off for years. No ct scans or blood tests will show anything wrong but still, is he well? Multiple concussions are considered dangerous. After four or five concussions you really would need to quit whatever you are doing or you will risk brain damage and dysfunction.
Avatar m tn I was involve in a very bad car accident 02/10 and have no memory of the actual wreck. the hospital deemed I have a severe concussion and then also diagnosed me with Post Concussion Syndrome. I am currently also experiencing back and neck problems as well as getting a collarbone checked out for a possible fracture. My question is does coffee effect concussion and PCS recovery. And how long does recovery generally take.

Avatar m tn I've just had a brain and cervical MRI. The reason was I get numbness in my ring and pinky fingers while sleeping. It goes away with a shake of my hand so I haven't done anything about it, until now. The cervical MRI showed problems with discs C4-5, C5-6 and C6-7. The latter two contribute to "neural foraminal stenosis". My GP and osteopath are now working to help me correct this issue. My question has more to do with the brain MRI.
1100598 tn?1413127426 one every month or so with the aura, which was treated with Imitrex. After a concussion last summer, I started getting them almost daily, where I would get blurry vision, tremors in my hands, nausea, difficulty speaking, pain in the left temple, and falling. My doctor started me on Topamax, 100mg, which has helped with the symptoms, although I still fall occassionally. She was able to rule out epilepsy. I was wondering if anyone else has these symptoms when they have a migraine?
Avatar f tn I know the symptoms I have are a part of the concussion but they are bad (bec I already have the chiari symptoms) and it has been since Friday and I still feel HORRIBLE! I see a chiari specialist at the end of the month but in the mean time could this hitting my head on the wall possibly made things worse? (I did not have a ct for the concussion, the dr. just diagnosed me by my symptoms and what happened).
Avatar m tn s been a year since his last concussion and he is making slow progress, but progress. Still has mood swings, ADD, and sleeplessness, but has made nice gains. He went on a flight to Scottland to visit a friend and seemed fine while in Scottland, but seemed to have regressed in symptoms when he returned home. Mood swings returned significantly and his choices and behaviors reflect significant impairment of executive function ability.
