Avatar m tn I was then switched to 18mg Concerta ER and I still get the same side-effects but they are about 85% less severe and last alot shorter 1-2 days max, but doesnt even work for me. Maybe amphetamines are too "strong" for me? I diagnosed with ADD and was prescribed Adderall 20mg XR when I was about 22 years old, and I didn't have a problem at all except slightly dry mouth. I'm 32 and decided to try ADD meds again bc I cant concentrate. I'm stumped by these symptoms.
Avatar n tn My girls are on Concerta and it helps with their ADHD, and they dont have any bad side effects. I know all kids are different, but you may want to talk to the doc about it and give it a shot.
Avatar f tn I have child that was also on Concerta 36. There are two types of this medication. Concerta and Concerta CR which is controller release, I believe it was called. However, I found that concerta is not a very effective drug for dealing with ADHD. You might want to have the school give her the second dose at 1pm at school, this way it will avoid the medicine lapsing while she is at school.
1575110 tn?1334664635 Hello, I also have adult ADD and I have tried both Concerta and Vyvanse. My doctor wanted me to try Concerta for a few weeks and I didn't like it at all. It didn't agree with me. It made it feel depressed and NOT motivated to do everyday things. I was on a 36 mg dose and when I went back to my doctor I told him I hated it. He mentioned that there is a new medication called Vyvanse and asked if I would like to try it. With nothing to lose, I said yes. I do like Vyvanse.
Avatar m tn These are typical side effects froom withdrawls of that type of medication (amphetamine, methylphetamine) or stimulants. If a patient is used to being on a stimulant drug for some time, withdrawing that drug would cause a general slowing down of the body, hence the extreme fatigue, lack of motivation and focus. Your body is going through an increased response of side effects from withdrawl, as you've been of this medication for a year which is why your symptoms may be more exaggerated.
Avatar n tn i had similar side effects when coming off the depo shot. I thought i was pregnant and took 3 tests. they went away but it took about 6mo. My docs checked my hormones and pituitary gland and they we all fine. It's probably not the effexor but ck w/ your doc anyway.
1768088 tn?1409087815 m wondering if all that is going on is A)side effects from adderall B)possible withdrawal symptoms or detoxing from concerta since she's Moody and head & stomach hurt and is pale and clammy and just doesn't feel good (in the past I was dependant on opioids so I know all to well how withdrawal can feel) or C)emotional and mood issues worsening from ADHD not being under proper control. I know to expect some side effects with medication changes. We've been there. Done that.
11352669 tn?1417486501 Since this is a strong stimulant, I am not surprised. Someone else said when their child hit puberty, they switched to focalin xr and the come down side effects weren't so bad. As far as those judging you, forgive them ok. I am sorry you are baring your soul and being accused of smoking pot. You are an adhd hero in my book.
Avatar f tn I agree with Rebbecca, it's a high dose to start with and those can be side effects. It can make you feel very out of it, and tired, have difficulty concentrating and retaining information as well as other side effects. It's also a medication that most drs monitor the blood levels of also, so you probably want to ask for blood work to make sure he has acceptable blood levels built up at this point, not to high and not too low.
1367899 tn?1278121440 My sister and I started a blog on Adderall to learn more about the medication along with alternative and complementary ADHD treatment options. Any feedback from users of Adderall or Adderall XR would be greatly appreciated. Topics to be added this week on http://Adderall.org How is Adderall XR different from Adderall? [Adderall vs. Adderall XR] What is Adderall? How to Make Adderall: [Adderall Background Information] What are the best Adderall and ADHD books?
Avatar f tn My children have been on Focalin XR for years now and have had wonderful results. Before this my son was on concerta and strattera together and it zoned him out, but the focalin allows him to focus and still be the same kid he always was. You can definately tell when the medicine has worn off, but when he is medicated he is his normal polite agreeable self and, just more focused. He is able to concentrate in class with no problems.
Avatar m tn Hi, I take Vyvanse and it's doing the trick for me. I haven't experienced any of the issues you described. I have a friend who takes Concerta and she's never mentioned any side-effects to me. There are many different medications, including ones that aren't stimulants. Perhaps your Ritalin dose isn't high enough because it doesn't seem to be doing much for you. You should discuss that with your doctor. Take care.
Avatar m tn Hello again, "Anybody have experience like this or with these meds?" The following is all just my opinion. Everyone reacts to medicine differently: Concerta is an extended release form of Ritalin. Which is what I took when I was a kid. It is still a stimulant but it is much milder than Adderall. I think more doctors should start patients Concerta because it has fewer side effects than Adderall.
Avatar f tn t give her any other medicine. The side effects to the medicines are not worth it.And you may have more to deal with than the adhd. I know first hand.and wish I had never put my son on any medicine,My son was on adderall and them concerta. and when I found out he was having Seizures I took him off the concerta.and now we are dealing with seizures every day and the medicines are not working.so last week he had a surgery and time will tell if that is going to work.
982251 tn?1248781387 Look up drug side effects for concerta. Maybe changing the medication might help, and it does take some time for the medication and there side effects to clear their system.
Avatar m tn It hurts sometimes to touch, grab, interact with things. I have no other side effects besides this strange one. Seeing if anyone has experienced this and how they may have dealt with it. Medication works great, but sometimes this side effect can be too much. Maybe just a supplement I need to take?
Avatar f tn I am on Adderall XR. I like it but there are some strange side effects. I know when I was on Ritalin, any form, I was mean, really mean. It was the same with Concerta. Stratara did nothing for me but there are many people that think it its the greatest thing. I have never tried this Vyvance. I have found the one drug that seems to work best so far. I think you need to keep trying until you find what works the best for you because everybody's body chemistry is different.
Avatar m tn I don't know of any thing that can help the side effects of taken adderall or any of the drugs they use for add and adhd. Think you should go to this site and read it . http://www.oshmanlaw.com/pharmaceutical_litigation/adderall.htm also taken Vitamins should help if you stop taken the Adderall, but need to ask doctor how you should stop taken it. my son was on adderall and then concerta and they both have the side effect that can cause seizures.
