concerta xl adults

My son has been taking Concerta xl 36mg for over a year now during school term for ADHD with no symptom until recently. He now grunt or groan and has involuntary spasm. Doctors dont seem to help much they just advise me that over time it should go. I make sure he is on an healthy diet at all time but with not much help. Any suggestions please!

Hi, my 11yrd son was diagnosed with ADHD with emotional and behavioral problems 2 yrs ago. He was on 40mg equasym xl but we are trying concerta xl 36mg to see if its effects last longer. That was 2 weeks ago and all hell is breaking loose here! The change in his aggression and reasoning is worrying, I've tried speaking to his doctor about dosage but all I got was ' I will send a form for you to fill in and once we get that and speak to his school, he will call?'?!??

i took a overdose of concerta xl and prozac and meltonin abour a month and half ago and now i am getting slight pains on my left sife in my breast bone any advise thanks

My daughter has been on concerta for 3 yrs now and she has facial tics. We took her off now and its been about 4 days, they seem to have gone away except once in away in awhile I see one but mostly 3\4 or more are gone. So I would like to know if they were becuse of the concerta and not touretts.

diagnosed a few days ago with ADD(no hyperactivity) amongst other things and am taking concerta...36 mg 1 to 2 times a day...seems to be a life saver so far but am uninsured, just getting back on my feet after a nasty divorce and losing everything but my children (Thank God). It is SOOO expensive. I have 3 children (out of 5) also diagnosed which prompted me to get checked..Anyone take Strattera with good results...

I started taking concerta 8 months ago and it has made ia great change in the fear I USED to have speaking in front of people . I till stutter but not near as often when speaking in front of adults .

Concerta, 30mg Adderall IR, and 30mg Adderall XR. Concerta gave me migraines. Adderall XR completely sucked. Adderall IR was the best medication that I found until Vyvanse. Now I think Adderall is horrible in comparison. I've been taking 30mg of Vyvanse for a few months now. This has been my adjusted dose from trying 20mg, 30mg, and 50mg. 50mg was wayy too much at the time. 30mg was perfect until about a month ago. It lasted about 12 hours, a huge improvement over 4 hours of Adderall IR.

Honestly, I think concerta is a way safer drug for CHILDREN in general who do not have reactions to concerta (and reactions to concerta are very rare). I would not make the same statement about adults... probably both are safe for adults (and reactions are rare). But for CHILDREN, concerta is probably the safer of the two UNLESS these sudden auditory hallucinations really are a result of the concerta and not a result of something weird that happened at a new "church"...

My son is soon to be 17 years old. He has been on 54mg of Concerta for 4 years plus. Before that he was on Ritalin, both for ADD. This medication treatment was recommended some time ago to help him academically and I must say, it has not really helped all these years. He continues to struggle in school and has trouble with depression so I am writing to request some clarity. Recently, his doctor has recommended a higher dose of Concerta.

s harder than anyone else in her class.Our daughter has been on concerta 36mg now for 3months, it has made a difference, she is talking better, obviously the medication is helping her thinking, DOWN is she can't get to sleep at night, did try a lower dose of Concerta first but didn't help much, the 36mg dose is what she needs, we give her melatonin to help her sleep at night, (natural medication for sleep), the melatonin helps but still hard for her to get off to sleep.

I had an allergic reaction to both, Adderall and Vyvanse, and my body refuses to metabolize these type of drugs properly. What do I do now? Just take Wellbutrin XL 150 for life? I'm a total disaster at work w/out the stimulants. Anyone knows of alternatives? I do take Omega-3s, vitamins, acetyl l-carnitine etc.

I usually take concerta 15 mg every few days, mostly every day lately. Today I took 90 mg and am feeling insanely sick several hours later. I felt better about an hour after but now it feels like it's getting even worse than before. Extreme anxiety, shaking, stomach pains, nausea, headache, weak, can't even stand up without feeing like I'm going to pass out, plus I'm exhausted but I cant even rest my eyes.

My children have been on Focalin XR for years now and have had wonderful results. Before this my son was on concerta and strattera together and it zoned him out, but the focalin allows him to focus and still be the same kid he always was. You can definately tell when the medicine has worn off, but when he is medicated he is his normal polite agreeable self and, just more focused. He is able to concentrate in class with no problems.

I can see being on V and perhaps adderall in the late after noon. Or concerta and ritalin in the late afternoon. Since the Concerta/ritalin are the same type of meds. Same thing for Vyvannse and Adderall. Point being, why was the V not working for you? What symptoms did you have. I would think that the two could have been over dosing you. Did you ever try just V alone?

These are shorter acting duration - up to 4 hours and many times are used on an as needed basis by adults. There are also the longer acting versions such as Ritalin LA or Concerta which can last 8 to 10 hours. Many times these are used by people with ADD because they don’t need the stronger stim meds that people with ADHD might require.  The second kind are the amphetamines such as Adderall which will last 4 to 8 hours or 6 to 10 in the extended version.

dillons 13 turnedbeen on various meds since age 7yrs, Now he is on concerta xl been taking this drug for 3 and a half yrs now he started at low dose then end of last year his phycytrist put him on the highest dose his age can get 72mg daily,now my son dillons sleep pattering has went right out of control dosent sleep for 3-4 days at one time,they know this and have also put his sleeping drug melatoning up to 9 times 3mg per night this dosent even work for him.

I have been prescribed Concerta 27.5 mgCR which is like adderall for ADHD. My doctor also prescribed Phenteramine 37.5 mg for weight loss. I take both together in the morning. I do go to him every month and have a check up so he can check my blood pressure...it is always low anyways. But he does keep a close eye on me. Also, if I have something stressfull happen in my life, I drop the phenterimine for a couple of days to prevent an anxidy attack.

I have been going to the same psychiatrist for over 5 years and have been recently given Concerta three months ago. During this time, the Concerta dose moved up 3 times and was given a new script. Some of these scripts were turned in during the same month.The doctor added on ritalin on a separate script one month. I have turned in these prescriptions mostly to the same pharmacy, but when at Walmart I have turned them in there.

hyper, not hyper, Temp always below normal and pulse slow or high with out a lot of movement. She was very under weight but the Concerta keep her from eating. But she was hypothriodism. More and More kids and adults are getting it. Lot of people with depression may have thyriod problems. Hope this helps.

Concerta does not cause the enlarged heart, but definitely increases the heart rate and causes other chest pains, so cardiovascular monitoring is a MUST with all the ADHD-drug taking children. My son has a 5-6 mm hole in his heart and we get Eco every year, just because he is taking Concerta. So far, we were lucky and did not have to suspend taking it. If they say it - keep him off of it. I am sorry to say that.

One other thought is that 36mgs of concerta is a load to take the first time. I have seen posts by other adults (mainly grad students) that take a very small dose as needed for tests, etc. I am not advocating the use of meds at all, but it sounds like you got some bad initial advice (along with the bad vibes). I had chicken pox as a child, but I've never had shingles before now. What happened in your case? I went to the doctor today and got neurontin and valtrex, but the doctor told me to keep taking the Concerta. I don't know what to do.

My girls are on Concerta and it helps with their ADHD, and they dont have any bad side effects. I know all kids are different, but you may want to talk to the doc about it and give it a shot.

I checked his eyes this morning before he took his Concerta pill and his eyes were still dialated, but not as badly as after he takes the Concerta. Should I take him to an eye doctor or should I discuss this with his psychiatist (who prescribes his Concerta) first?
