Concerta with xanax

Common Questions and Answers about Concerta with xanax

ritalin

Avatar n tn I see this is an old question but I'm first time here and just will say 18mg Concerta will be overpowered as you didn't take any with high amount xanax, it's no spedball but can make some problems with tachychardia so be carefull....now if you take like 2mg xanax and 72mg Concerta and feel focused, motivated without anxiety f.e.
Avatar n tn I was on the xanax first for anxiety, then was diagnosed with add at started adderall. This is a good balance for me. I get effects of both meds without going to far either way. I've never taken ativan before, but i have heard that it's not effective as xanax. Definatley talk to your doctor, but if he has prescribed both then it should be fine to take them together, If you need them both take them both and find that balance with the two that works for you. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Dear grandmother, First, watch out for the Strattera...my daughter was on it until the doctor told me there were health risks they found with it and she would have to have her blood checked and liver frequently....I took her off immediately. My son was on Seroquel, and Concerta, and some other mood stabilizer (can't remember)...but anyhow, he was on these meds and they were making him worse. I took him off all meds the end of 2nd grade when I pulled him out of school to homeschool him...
Avatar n tn Interesting, I can find no mention of a 32mg dose of concerta. Is he on a 36 mg dose? if he is, "The maximum dosage of Concerta should not be greater than 0.9 mg per pound of body weight." fish oil is certainly something worth trying. There are ones out there developed specifically for kids (chewable, etc), and they will have the suggested dosage on the bottle. I really can't see any reason that primrose (I assume the oil) would be worth your money.
Avatar f tn I saw a urologist, who did a cystoscopy and he said everything was fine, my bladder was fine, and my urinary tract was fine, and that as a urologist he could no longer help me. He suggested that I speak with my psychiatrist because of the medication I am on. I take lamictal, concerta, pristiq, seasonique, and zyrtec d everyday. But i'm just confused because I have taken these medicines for over 6 months now and have not had these problems.
Avatar f tn Im a 19 years old boy and i have tried vyvanse which did miracles at first at 20mg until the effect decreased and had to go up to 60mg with no effects except the bad ones and went back to my old self(lazy, tired, unmotivated etc.). I am now on concerta 36mg and it seems like working but not all the time and clearly not as much as first time vyvanse.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 5 years old and has ADHD. She recently went on the drug Concerta, then her PCP prescribed cetirizine as well for hay fever that I didn't even realize she had. On a routine cardiology check for the Concerta meds, the cardiologist discovered my daughter had PACs. The cardiologist took her off all of her meds for 10 days and did another EKG. She still had the PACs even off meds. Now my daughter is on atenolol 2 mL per day, Concerta, and cetirizine all together.
Avatar n tn For Sure, I take adderall and I get mad anxiety for no reason, sometimes it just hits me like a brick and sinks into my stomach dragging me down into a terrible feeling. It used to be so bad that I would smoke weed all the time cuz that was all that would help. It also made me quit my meds lots of times always with bad results. Nowadays I get xanax, but I really don't want to take a xanax everytime I feel that way.
Avatar f tn t know that it helps but DR INSISTS I take it, along with Wellbutrin, and a Concerta if I feel I need it. I am 35 this month, have struggled my whole life with Anxiety/PTSD, why do DR's always want you to try something else first even though I have had "Reactions", meds that DID NOT work....
Avatar m tn so a definite no go there - Adderall was an improvement over Concerta but still left me with too much stimulant and less clear thinking. I proceeded to use Adderall for over a year until I had a friend told me about Vyvanse. My doc prescribed me 70mg Vyvanse, to compare with my Adderall dose previously prescribed. When feeling the effects of Vyvanse it is truly a saving grace and I really feel "limitless".
Avatar n tn Therefore, it can be treated with observation, medications for prophylaxis (which ends up being life-long), or with a special procedure called an electrophysiology study with radiofrequency ablation. If you are not comfortable with the care that she is receiving, it would be important to consider a second opinion, especially one from a pediatric electrophysiologist, a pediatric cardiologist who specializes in electrical problems with the heart.
Avatar f tn was diagnosed with adhd about 2 mos ago and my doctor put me on 36mgs of concerta it seems to help with the impulse control, but I am still having an issue with my mind being in a thousand different places. I also have a seven year old son who was also diagnosed with adhd about a week ago and because of his size he is also on 36mg of concerta and it is making him calmer at home, but when I talked to his teacher today she said that she is not seeing any improvement at all.
Avatar f tn Hi Bill! Wow - 54 mg? Did you start off on a lower dose? That sounds awfully high... I've been on methylphenidate for about three years. (I take the brand Ritalin, but I'm pretty sure Ritalin and Concerta are about the same thing.) I started off on 5 mg, three times a day (of the non extended release) and I got a lot of benefit from it.
Avatar f tn What other med’s have other parents found help with this type of ADD e.g. is Vyvanse better or Addrell, Strattra etc etc, as the concerta doesn't help her anxiety. I don't feel like yet she is on the best mediation for her needs. Any advice help would be great.
Avatar f tn Should I take him to an eye doctor or should I discuss this with his psychiatist (who prescribes his Concerta) first?
Avatar f tn t mean to interrupt your conversation, but I must say that I find what both of you are discussing is relevant to what my 13 y.o. son has be dealing with since we lowered his Concerta dosage, regarding slurred speech, tightness in throat/ difficulty swallowing heavy foods, and blinking. These are all new symptoms that he never had before the Concerta.
1031310 tn?1259857386 Well, he was on Concerta for two years with no problems. He attends church and the next day has problems. I'm not sure the medication is/was the problem. What do you know about this particular church (they all are different due to the person in charge). He may have heard a "fire and brimstone" message that scared the heck out of him. Or not. But I would certainly look at all sides of the problem.
Avatar f tn I started taking 18 mg of Concerta once daily about 2 weeks ago. Oddly I have noticed two things: 1) I can no longer have my daily/morning coffee without severe nausea (even the pharmacist didn't have it as one of his warnings). 2) Despite the fact that it keeps me awake to the point that daytime napping is not possible I still feel exhausted most of the time which doesn't make much sense to me. Has anyone had anything like either of these things happen while they were taking it?
13415927 tn?1430701518 my psychiatrist was very dubious to put me on ADD medication as im an ex crystal meth addict. obvious reasons. ive been clean for 8 years now and have been on concerta for almost a year. but i am bipolar and have very bad anxiety. concerta works very well for my ADD but not for my anxiety, is there a better way to get the best of both worlds?
Avatar n tn I just started taking Concerta (36 mg) and I immediately developed shingles. My doctor swears it's a coincidence, but after seeing your post I can't help but wonder. I had chicken pox as a child, but I've never had shingles before now. What happened in your case? I went to the doctor today and got neurontin and valtrex, but the doctor told me to keep taking the Concerta. I don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn Talk to her docotor about trying another med such as Stratera (non-stimulant) or Metadate CD another type of stimulant. I have a friend with a boy who takes Metadate CD. They tried Concerta and it did not work for the school at all. He was very restless and hyper. At home he was fine at the end of the day. So, the way this boy's body metabolized the med was different and the benefit of the med was late in the afternoon. Metadate CD works better for this boy during school hours.
Avatar n tn My daughter is nearly 11 years old and has been taking Concerta (now on 36mg) since March. The doctor recommended a switch to Strattera for the reason that it works 24 hours (Concerta is effective for only 12 hours) and will help my daughter concentrate more. I have no idea whether Strattera is a better alternative, can anyone tell me if this is true?
Avatar m tn I'm not sure if Concerta is working for me? I'm a 20 year old female and I was recently diagnosed with ADD. I was prescribed with 18mg of Concerta, once every morning. I didn't feel particularly focused, but I suppose less distracted than usual. I felt very calm and relaxed on the first day. But since the first day, I don't notice any difference at all.
Avatar f tn I have child that was also on Concerta 36. There are two types of this medication. Concerta and Concerta CR which is controller release, I believe it was called. However, I found that concerta is not a very effective drug for dealing with ADHD. You might want to have the school give her the second dose at 1pm at school, this way it will avoid the medicine lapsing while she is at school.
Avatar f tn Definitely talk with your doc. However, if he has been on Concerta for a while - the meds may not be the trigger. So do think about when the headaches occur. It could be the meds or allergies or even stress. And each one of those things requires a different response. How old is he?
