Concerta to adderall conversion

Common Questions and Answers about Concerta to adderall conversion

ritalin

Avatar m tn Is there anyway to reduce this while taking adderall, and what could it be caused by? I was then switched to 18mg Concerta ER and I still get the same side-effects but they are about 85% less severe and last alot shorter 1-2 days max, but doesnt even work for me. Maybe amphetamines are too "strong" for me? I diagnosed with ADD and was prescribed Adderall 20mg XR when I was about 22 years old, and I didn't have a problem at all except slightly dry mouth.
Avatar f tn He only mentioned Concerta at the time amd zi have wondered if anyone here prescribes Adderall so I will add that to my list for my guy at our next appt.
1756970 tn?1314376733 hi, concerta ,and stratara, and all the others my doc put me on didn't come close to adderall. focalin worked to but was costly. adderall leavels your brain, and lets you be yourself. the way your supose to be.
Avatar m tn The Concerta will show up for one to three days (in a urine test) depending on how fast you metabolize. However from what I have read, it will show up in the initial screening as a general amphetamine. After a positive initial screening, the sample will be further tested using a different methodology that will specify the type of amphetamine. Of course, if you have taken your generic version of adderall after the concerta for a couple of days. That should be what shows up.
Avatar f tn I can see being on V and perhaps adderall in the late after noon. Or concerta and ritalin in the late afternoon. Since the Concerta/ritalin are the same type of meds. Same thing for Vyvannse and Adderall. Point being, why was the V not working for you? What symptoms did you have. I would think that the two could have been over dosing you. Did you ever try just V alone?
Avatar f tn Phenteramine does make you anxious,,, more so than the adderall or Concerta. I also take a low dose of Topamax to help with the weightloss. remember, my Concerta is controlled release so that may make a difference in how it reacts with the Phenterimine.
Avatar f tn Hi, Your doctor is being smart to not put you on a combination of Adderall and Concerta. They are both nervous system stimulants and together they can cause cardiac events such as a heart attack... How long have you been on the Bupropion? It can take 6-8 weeks to have any effect on your body..but that drug in most cases is not used to treat ADD and studies have proven that its not very effective in treating ADD.
Avatar n tn I have always been very thin, but that year i went from being 135 lbs (i am 5 ft 8) to 120 lbs. A few months ago i told my mom that i wanted to switch to adderall because some of my friends are on it and they seem to be have less side affects than i experience. I started taking 20mg a day of the stuff before school, instead of my usual 36mg of Concerta. At first, i felt amazingggg!! I still had the focus affects of the Concerta, but i was much more talkative and happier.
13415927 tn?1430701518 m assuming you did and ots not a self-diagnosis Concerta or any other medications like Adderall to treat ADD/ADHD will only exacerbate your other disorders. I use to be on concerts for my ADHD but I also have generalized anxiety. An SSRI is the best choice for treating those two. On second note, ADD/ADHD medications can treat depression but not anxiety. Most people withADD/ADHD have around 3 other disorders.
5757880 tn?1395578022 It really is the same (does the same) thing as a regular adderall- it just lasts longer. What is it that makes you want to go to the regular adderall? Do you think he was being over medicated? If you would like to start a new post and maybe tell me something about your son (age, grade, etc). I also might be able to suggest ways to help him. I have some very good "link" resources.
Avatar m tn Both do take a while to take effect (compared to a stimulant). If you google them, you will be able to see lots of anecdotal posts on how it worked for that poster or their children. Hope this helps.
305005 tn?1358728290 They were diagnosed years ago and also was on adderall it made them angry and aggressive, concerta has worked much better also tried straterra was the drug from hell for my 14 yr old he also has impulse behaviors you just have to go by trial and error what works for one does not work for all. I also find that after take a medicine for a while the dosage is no longer effective or the medicine itself is not seems like an immunity can built. Any way hope this helps.
Avatar f tn adderall and concerta both have seizures as a side effect along with other bad side effects, and so do all other medicines. you can to see if it is worth the risk. Have you tried taken vitamins like omega 3 and vitamins b6. most drugs ware off. best of luck to you.
1575110 tn?1334664635 Hello, I also have adult ADD and I have tried both Concerta and Vyvanse. My doctor wanted me to try Concerta for a few weeks and I didn't like it at all. It didn't agree with me. It made it feel depressed and NOT motivated to do everyday things. I was on a 36 mg dose and when I went back to my doctor I told him I hated it. He mentioned that there is a new medication called Vyvanse and asked if I would like to try it. With nothing to lose, I said yes. I do like Vyvanse.
Avatar f tn For instance, if a person is on 30mg of Adderall and wants to switch to Ritalin,..you will need aprox. 50 to 60mg of Ritalin to be equivelant to the 30mg of Adderall. I am on 60mg of Adderall daily. I wanted to try Ritalin again just for the heck of it. I have shown proof from reliable sources, to my Doc that he needs to give me MORE than 60mg Ritalin for it to be effective as 60mg Adderrall. He still will NOT increase the Ritalin dosage.
Avatar f tn omg i just placed calls to our family doc and the neurologist that perscribed 36 mg of concerta . our son started taking it on saturday . he is 13 . the good news is he is doing awesome in school but not eating well . as soon as i hear from the doctors ill post you . im in tears .
Avatar m tn ive been on adderall for 4 years and I abuse it to be honest,,,Now its a fighting battle to get off the drug,,,If you are going to switch to adderall make sure you take exactly what your suppossed to....You slip up once and take that extra pill it can pull you in... Just remember that.Adderall and other kinds of add/adhd drugs are suppossed to be used as a tool. Dont make the mistake I did and abuse it...
Avatar f tn Should have added, as the above states, the way to stop is to taper off as slowly as you need to at a schedule that suits you, not one generally done for everyone. But to repeat, it's Thursday and you seem to be doing fine so maybe you're one of the lucky ones. Heck of a risk to take, though.
Avatar f tn Well, see when I switched from Concerta to Adderall, I just stopped the Concerta and went to taking the Adderall XR. After a few months the XR did not seem to work very long or throughout the day. So, in 2007, I went on Adderall short acting pill form which generic form is amphetamine salts or amphetamine mix tabs. With this pill, first of all, it is extremely inexpensive. I pay $30 for 180 tabs 20 mg each. I cut each in half and take each half 4 times a day a total of 40mg.
Avatar m tn Concerta, 30mg Adderall IR, and 30mg Adderall XR. Concerta gave me migraines. Adderall XR completely sucked. Adderall IR was the best medication that I found until Vyvanse. Now I think Adderall is horrible in comparison. I've been taking 30mg of Vyvanse for a few months now. This has been my adjusted dose from trying 20mg, 30mg, and 50mg. 50mg was wayy too much at the time. 30mg was perfect until about a month ago. It lasted about 12 hours, a huge improvement over 4 hours of Adderall IR.
9003081 tn?1401126498 There are no good ADD alternative meds. Websites that claim to sell such products are mostly scams or selling supplements with little or no therapeutic value. Unfortunately, you live in Florida. Florida refused to take the Obama Care money that other states are using to expand Medicaid. So, your out of luck with that (unless you have kids/disabled etc.). Medicaid covers the cost of ADD meds up to age 25. You can find a doctor and pay out of pocket. That's what I had to do.
969557 tn?1314370614 My son was on concerta and adderall and they both can cause seizures. I would ask doctor to you for an egg and make sure you are not having seizures.Witch is a side effect to concerta and can not be reversed .They can only give you medicine to try and control the seizures. I wish we had never put my son on these medicines.
Avatar f tn Im a 19 years old boy and i have tried vyvanse which did miracles at first at 20mg until the effect decreased and had to go up to 60mg with no effects except the bad ones and went back to my old self(lazy, tired, unmotivated etc.). I am now on concerta 36mg and it seems like working but not all the time and clearly not as much as first time vyvanse.
1768088 tn?1409087815 She decided to stop concerta and focalin and start her on Adderall XR 30 mg once daily. Psych only consults, she doesn't treat so we saw her pcp yesterday am to get rx for adderall. Took it about 930 yesterday am and she was super emotional and upset all day. Cried over literally every little thing. Then as day progressed she complained of a slight headache. I gave her a 200 mg ibuprofen. She started saying her stomach hurt and she didn't feel good.
