982251 tn?1248781387 Look up drug side effects for concerta. Maybe changing the medication might help, and it does take some time for the medication and there side effects to clear their system.
969557 tn?1314370614 About 5 years ago I quitted my one year long treatment of Concerta after developing tics. This has never ended since and I have to go inject Botox in my neck every third month. I have started to worry about loosing the strength in my neck because of this. Has anyone else experiensed this sideeffect of Concerta and have any advise??
Avatar n tn I think the problem is more the Risperdal then the Concerta. Side effects listed for Risperdal include - Aggressive behavior, agitation, anxiety, stiffness or weakness of the arms or legs, tic-like or twitching movements, trembling and shaking of the fingers and hands, trouble sleeping, and twisting body movements. The site said to, "Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking risperidone:" talking about those mentioned above.
Avatar f tn mportant information about Concerta Do not use Concerta if you have used an MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), tranylcypromine (Parnate), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), or selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam) within the past 14 days. Serious, life-threatening side effects can occur if you use Concerta before the MAO inhibitor has cleared from your body.
Avatar f tn We have tried many different medicines- concerta, metadate, all wioth severe side effects with my son, so do not want to keep trying defferent medicines. It is just confusing since he is not on any medicine now. . Thanks.
Avatar f tn raised eyebrows, eyes rolling to back of the head, head tilt to the side and a humming sound. We called Psych. and Concerta was stopped. However a week later, the tics are still here...not as frequent...but certainly still here. His Intuniv was increased to 2 mg QD, but his ADHD is in no way controlled....My questions... 1) Why did the tics suddenly happen after being on Concerta for 6 months....did adding the Intuniv have something to do with? I know Intuniv should help with tics....
Avatar f tn Hey Corrie, Tics, muscle twitching and gastric issues are a pretty common side effect with Concerta, and with you developing the tics and gastric issues post starting, I would be still believe your facial tics are a Concerta side affect. It's actually a central nervous system stimulant and with you having MS, basically a faulty central nervous system, there's more potential for it to trigger tics and or to exacerbate other MS motor related issues.
Avatar f tn I have child that was also on Concerta 36. There are two types of this medication. Concerta and Concerta CR which is controller release, I believe it was called. However, I found that concerta is not a very effective drug for dealing with ADHD. You might want to have the school give her the second dose at 1pm at school, this way it will avoid the medicine lapsing while she is at school.
969557 tn?1314370614 If you responded to Orap but had to stop it due to side effects, other medications similar to Orap but with less side effects may be helpful for you, discussion of these options with your neurologist is recommended. Thank you for this opportunity to answer your questions, I hope you find the information I have provided useful, good luck.
944223 tn?1245869858 Dear men and women.I am a 27 year old male diagnosed with ADHD twice at two different hospitals. I went to hospitals because I knew I had some issue when I would lash out at people due to my impatientness among other things I knew really weren't me. I waited awhile because I wasnt sure if it was ptsd or not.But looking back, and having my Gifted/Talented teacher tell me i was the same in elementary, i knew it may have been add/adhd.
Avatar n tn I highly suggest that you buy the book, "The ADD/ ADHD Answer book," by Susan Ashley. You need lots of different kinds of information and this book will give it to you. The book as well as any research study will tell you that stimulant therapy does not lead to drug usage in later life. In fact, the percent of kids who do abuse drugs is much higher for those children who were not on stimulant meds (if they have AD/HD).

Avatar n tn I do not see it on the side effects list for this med but I do see loss of appetite and with my son I see just the opposite, he wants to eat al of the time and he doesn't seem to get full very easy at all. He has gained a lot of weight being on this med. Does anyone else have this problem and has anyone had their child checked for the accidents they are having with their bowls? What did your doctor say could be the problem?
Avatar f tn To all My son was on drugs for ADD and ADHD ,Adderall and then Concerta until we found out he was having Seizures ,witch can be a side effect from the drugs they give out for ADD and ADHD. Along with other very bad side effects. These drugs are like speed.I blame my self for my son having his Seizures and some of them you wouldn't know he was having them unless he was hooked up to the EEG .
Avatar n tn It is one of the side effects of Ritalin perhaps you should ask your Doctor for a new evaluation of the Med, if you ever decide to let him be on Natural Remedies, it has been shown in studies that food supplements have the same efficacy as Ritalin and a Muliple Vitamin-mineral with B Complex and Vit C also Fish oil, would be good, a lot of Parents are trying this now and their children and not getting the bad side effects that Ritalin and the other meds have.
Avatar n tn Is there anyone out there that can tell me are there any benefits to medication? I only ever read about the side effects and bad experiences people have with them, especially on children! I'm trying to decide whether to put my 7yr old son back on meds after 8 months on concerta with shocking rebound effects at night, which really took it's toll on us. Are they worth it?.
Avatar m tn My son is 7 and has been on Concerta for over a year now. He started with 18MG which worked great. No side effects and had a wonderful experience at school. This year his dosage was increased to 27MG and now I've started to notice a tic I guess is what you call it. I was searching the web and came across other post because I was wondering if it had something to do with his medication. His tic is he wiggles his fingers, he does it and he doesn't even realize it.
Avatar f tn My son has tried Ritalin, Dexodrine and Concerta. All have made him tic, but the concerta tics seem to last longer. He has been off for two weeks and although the neck jutting out has stopped, the clearing of the throat has not. I have removed him off all medication and am convinced the pros of the medicine DOES NOT out weigh the cons. Be careful parents! Make sure you do your research before placing your children on medication.
