concerta odd

Well, it was not the Lithium that caused the twitching, as I had a Lithium level drawn after stopping it and the Vyvanse, and my level was a little bit low, indicating that it had probably been at normal levels just a day or two before. Now I have a script for Concerta to replace the Vyvanse, I am just waiting on insurance's prior authorization. I am still on the Prozac and am back on Abilify. The twitching slowly subsided, as did the eye pain, nausea, and dizziness.

I have a 12 year old grandson diagnosed with ADHD/ODD/Bipolar. He was first prescribed concerta. He did very well for about two weeks and then started to act very violent aggressive and angry. The doctor doubled the dose and the anger and aggression etc. became worse. That was when the doctor diagnosed Bipolar and took him off stimulant and put him on Resperidone / mood stabilizer. He has been on resperidone for 11/2 week showing only ADHD and ODD symptoms.

Has anything else changed in his lifestyle besides the lowering of the concerta? It seems a bit odd that these symptoms would only appear when switched to a lower dose than he was used to. How much concerta does he take a day?

Started treating right before she turned 5. She has been on Concerta since she was 5. Started at 18 mg and ever so often had to increase. She's been on 54 mg a day for at least the past 3 years or so. Well lately we noticed It's not working as well as it once was. She also takes Focalin 10 mg in the afternoon when needed. The concerta is wearing off in 5-6 hrs and when she takes the focalin in the pm u can't even tell she's taken anything.

MY SON HAS BEEN ON CONCERTA FOR 7YRS AND IT IS WONDERFUL HE HAS ADHD. MY DAUGHTER HAS ADHD AND ODD, CONCERTA GAVE HER TICS AND FINALLY I FOUND A GREAT DOCTOR AND SHE TOOK HER OFF STIULANTS AND THEY ARE ALL GONE SHE IS NOW ON TENEX AND IS A NEW CHILD. SOMETIME IT IS JUST TRIAL AND ERA TILL YOU FIND THE RIGHT DRUG, AS YOU COULD SEE WITH MY DAUGHTER, AND BELIEVE ME WE TRIED ABOUT 10 OR MORE TILL WE GOT IT RIGHT.

Went to a psychiatrist for new testing and counseling and prescribed concerta. Concerta was great!...for awhile. Last year at 14 had gall bladder removed. Had adverse reactions to anesthesia (the couldn't get her asleep) after surgery was up for days with no sleep whatsoever. After that paranoid episodes - couldn't sleep, hear sounds, thought people outside. Doctor reduced dosage which DID NOT help episodes and seemed unconcerned.

The respidal made him more angry and he had more outbursts. Stopped that,but now at a loss as what to try. Any parents been through ODD with a child.....need help not enjoying him at all.

I am a teacher and have done a lot of research on adhd and odd. I think he has ODD. He hates to take his concerta because it makes him lose his appetite I do see a change when on meds. He does ok in school while not on meds but when at home he is a nightmare. He fits all the classic symptoms of ODD. At home he defies everything we ask him to do and he throws fits when he does not get his way. He is very disrespectful also.

which is the best med for adhd and odd together, zoloft and concerta or straterra and is their something organic that can work?

m 19 years old and just got diagnosed, as one would say, with ADD/ADHD rather recently. I was given a prescription for Concerta 36mg to be taken daily. This is the third week taking it and I have been noticing some odd side effects. On days when I take it in the morning and don't eat I feel nauseous and generally off, which I was warned about prior so it doesn't worry me as much. However, I have also noticed quite a difference in my mood.

During the summer, we took him to a therapist who diagonsed him with with the ADHD with ODD. She prescribed Adderall which worked for two months, then the same behavior started to come back so we increased the aAdderal from 5mg to 10 mg. When he started Kindergarten, he once again did well for the 1st semester, then back to the same behavior of not listening, getting up out of his seat, etc.

Hello all! I have had attention problems since icould remember. Im 24 now. But only in the year or so I've realized that it has actually caused a lot of problems study wise for me. I feel constantly bored or loos interest in the smallest tasks and tend not to sleep allot because it feels like I can't switch the conversations off in my head. I only really realized that my behavior was a bit odd, when my friend kept telling me that I walk around and interrupt allot of people in class.

Concerta does not cause the enlarged heart, but definitely increases the heart rate and causes other chest pains, so cardiovascular monitoring is a MUST with all the ADHD-drug taking children. My son has a 5-6 mm hole in his heart and we get Eco every year, just because he is taking Concerta. So far, we were lucky and did not have to suspend taking it. If they say it - keep him off of it. I am sorry to say that.

I had chicken pox as a child, but I've never had shingles before now. What happened in your case? I went to the doctor today and got neurontin and valtrex, but the doctor told me to keep taking the Concerta. I don't know what to do.

He now takes concerta, welbutrin and zyprexa at 7am, welbutrin again at 4pm, 1500mg of depakote at 6pm and concerta and zyprexa at 8pm. The last two weekends in rw at our house there has not been any problems, no problems sleeping and no sudden mood swings.

I have a friend with a son with ODD and ADD. I don't know much about ODD but know my fair share about ADHD. I would suggest maybe altering his IEP and if he doesn't have an IEP get one. He will need an accommodated IEP and lots or attention, try switching schools. Some schools are better set up for children with ODD and ADHD. You could also try homeschooling or a private tutor a couple of days a week.

I checked his eyes this morning before he took his Concerta pill and his eyes were still dialated, but not as badly as after he takes the Concerta. Should I take him to an eye doctor or should I discuss this with his psychiatist (who prescribes his Concerta) first?

My daughter has been on concerta for 3 yrs now and she has facial tics. We took her off now and its been about 4 days, they seem to have gone away except once in away in awhile I see one but mostly 3\4 or more are gone. So I would like to know if they were becuse of the concerta and not touretts.

I did not personally find it as helpful as the concerta.... but everyone is different! Your son might find it even more helpful then the concerta, you'll only know if you try it! It's not a stimulant, so... SOME people might think that was a plus... but... uhhh... it's sort of like an anti-depressant, so like with ANY anti-depressant your son MIGHT experience withdrawal effects if he ever wanted to go off of it...

my psychiatrist was very dubious to put me on ADD medication as im an ex crystal meth addict. obvious reasons. ive been clean for 8 years now and have been on concerta for almost a year. but i am bipolar and have very bad anxiety. concerta works very well for my ADD but not for my anxiety, is there a better way to get the best of both worlds?
