Common Questions and Answers about Concerta half life

concerta

Avatar f tn The half-life of a drug is how long it takes for half of it to be eliminated from the bloodstream. Hope that helps.
6298176 tn?1380134459 It has a very long half life, though I can't give you specifics. The dose and how long you were on it does factor in. Your doctor should be able to help you with your questions on this.
Avatar n tn that is sweet spot but a small ammount of alprazolam will overpower MPH and if it does you will need literally half bottle of Concerta, this is my experience and I say for mayority of other reports that i red in last 2 years so you are safe but take 1mg xanax more and no cleaning...
Avatar f tn My dad is snorting my sisters concerta. We've caught him once a couple of years ago and he said he stopped. he's only giving my sister half a pill (54 miligrams) now. He's doing it constantly and drinking like theres no tomorrow. His belly is VERY hard and round. I know thats a stage of liver problems. Serious liver problems. What could it do to him? and my sister only getting half of her pill?
Avatar m tn My 6 year old DD was started on concerta about a month and a half ago. This is the first medication they suggested to us. She seems to be doing really well in school but the side effects at home are becoming hard for us to handle. SHe has become very nonaffectionate, emotional, withdrawn, and seems to be uninterested in life. She also will not eat at all. She is eating maybe one meal a day. I am wondering if we switch medications, will the side effects be the same/as bad?
Avatar f tn Concerta does not cause the enlarged heart, but definitely increases the heart rate and causes other chest pains, so cardiovascular monitoring is a MUST with all the ADHD-drug taking children. My son has a 5-6 mm hole in his heart and we get Eco every year, just because he is taking Concerta. So far, we were lucky and did not have to suspend taking it. If they say it - keep him off of it. I am sorry to say that.
Avatar m tn Depends on how long after you took the concerta that the testing is done. According to this link, "Every half-inch of hair detects drug use for a period of 30 days. The typical hair screening test uses 1.5 inches of hair and approximately 90 to 120 strands of hair." From - http://www.truckingtruth.com/truckers-forum/Topic-971/Page-5/dot-drug-testing-urinalysis-or-hair-follicle another good link is here - https://www.healthtap.com/topics/can-you-beat-a-hair-follicle-test.
Avatar n tn I had one panic attack that scared me half to death because i thought i was dying. I spend the next two days thinking i was going to die of a heart attack. After two days of being paranoid i went to the emergency room and told the doctor what had happened. I was fine and sent home later that day. The constant worry for those two days had sent me into a state of depersonalization/derealization. Now it seems most of my anxiety is cause by the constant feeling unreal.
16613731 tn?1449676204 Assuming I read your description correctly, you are still taking Concerta, right? If that's the case then be advised that Concerta, like all stimulants, has the side effect of hair loss(http://www.drugs.com/sfx/concerta-side-effects.html). It's likely that most doctors won't mention this, because it isn't a very prevalent side effect.
Avatar m tn My plan is to switch to a med I can take and slowly cut the pills in half and taper off. You can’t cut the concerta since it’s extends release. Please anyone give me an idea on what I should do to get off this.
Avatar m tn My doctor thinks we may try something else to counteract the fatigue side effects of Paxil, once I concerta is out of my system. Honestly, this experience with concerta has me thinking of to phasing antidepressants altogether. I should mention that asside 50mg of Paxil I am also taking 0.5 mg of risperidon. I thank you again for your very thoughtful response.
Avatar f tn I have child that was also on Concerta 36. There are two types of this medication. Concerta and Concerta CR which is controller release, I believe it was called. However, I found that concerta is not a very effective drug for dealing with ADHD. You might want to have the school give her the second dose at 1pm at school, this way it will avoid the medicine lapsing while she is at school.
Avatar n tn While in the 3rd grade, our daughter had problems concentrating in class and the teacher asked us to look into medications for this issue. We did and the doctor prescribed concerta. Within about 3 months she developed the issue of scab picking. This went on for months. The doctor suggested her seeing a psychologist but with knowing our daughter better than the doctor, we felt this was ridiculous. She is a bubbly, outgoing and cheerful child. She picked without even knowing it.
1768088 tn?1409087815 Started treating right before she turned 5. She has been on Concerta since she was 5. Started at 18 mg and ever so often had to increase. She's been on 54 mg a day for at least the past 3 years or so. Well lately we noticed It's not working as well as it once was. She also takes Focalin 10 mg in the afternoon when needed. The concerta is wearing off in 5-6 hrs and when she takes the focalin in the pm u can't even tell she's taken anything.
207227 tn?1271416978 My daughter has been showing symptoms that are half ADD/ADHD related and half Bipolar Child related. The symptoms are about half of each. I have taken her to a psychiatrist who said she MAY have a mood disporder (unipolar) and put her on Trileptyl. She had an allergic reaction to this and we had to stop it ASAP. He did not want to try anything else right now as she is overweight and other meds will possibly increase her weight. S we are watching and waiting.
Avatar m tn Hi everybody, I'll try to keep this as concise as possible. I'm a 23 year old male in college diagnosed with ADHD (which I've successfully been on welbutrin and concerta for about 3 years now). I admit first hand, I've been a stim junkie in the past, energy drinks in particular. I stopped with those once I found a lifting supplement known as NOXPLODE (which is a blend of an energy, NO, and creatine in short).
Avatar f tn Hi folks, I took Concerta for 2 weeks and gave it up because of GI issues and a lot of facial twitching in addition to still having a lot of fatigue. I stopped taking it almost a week ago but I still have a remaining eye twitch that is driving me nuts. Now I'm thinking the current twitch is likely unrelated to Concerta and may be MS related. If so, it is a new symptom for me and like most MS symptoms, I need relief. Has anyone had any success getting rid of the twitches?

Avatar m tn I am a 30 year old who started taking ritalin and concerta (36mg - 72mg) on a regular basis for about 6 months about a year and a half ago. As a consequence I experienced erectile dysfunction. I stopped taking the meds and I still have erectile dysfunction. I have been off the meds for over a year now and I have not recovered my erectile function. I can only get a semi if I try really hard. I don't get morning boners any more and I don't get proper hard ons when watching porn either.
