Concerta going off the market

Common Questions and Answers about Concerta going off the market

concerta

Avatar n tn Does your daughter have a headache when the meds wear off? When the dose is too high it can often leave you with a headache, which makes you irritable and cranky. I can personally say it has happened to me. When my dose was too high it made my head hurt and therefore making me cranky as all hell.
Avatar m tn Hello again, "Anybody have experience like this or with these meds?" The following is all just my opinion. Everyone reacts to medicine differently: Concerta is an extended release form of Ritalin. Which is what I took when I was a kid. It is still a stimulant but it is much milder than Adderall. I think more doctors should start patients Concerta because it has fewer side effects than Adderall.
Avatar m tn Dexidrine used to work much better but they took that off the market or something. I tried provigil, stratera, wellbutrin, lexapro, celexa, Prozac, paxil adderal, and concerta. Concerta is ritalin (methylphenidate hcl) but the delivery system is different and is supposed to be more effective but it's wicked expensive. My medication doesn't make everything all better for me. I'm not able to go out and do normal things just because I take the pills.
1031310 tn?1259857386 I worried that I might actually act on them before I could stop myself so I ended up going off the concerta. Meds of any kind can have significant effects on our brain chemistry, especially after years of taking them. Also, if our chemistry changes, the effect of the meds can change. If anyone you know is experiencing psychotic episodes including hallucinations or delusions you should see your doctor or take them to the ER right away.
Avatar f tn I can see being on V and perhaps adderall in the late after noon. Or concerta and ritalin in the late afternoon. Since the Concerta/ritalin are the same type of meds. Same thing for Vyvannse and Adderall. Point being, why was the V not working for you? What symptoms did you have. I would think that the two could have been over dosing you. Did you ever try just V alone?
Avatar m tn Im a 16 yearold male that plays a ton of sports and works out a lot but I'm never hungry! Its really weird all my buddies eat a ton of food after our games and in general there always hungry! I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 160 pounds. I am starting to feel weak because I don't eat. Is it normal for me to feel like this? I'm currently on 105mg of concerta. Could the concerta be doing it to me?
Avatar f tn He has been off for two weeks and although the neck jutting out has stopped, the clearing of the throat has not. I have removed him off all medication and am convinced the pros of the medicine DOES NOT out weigh the cons. Be careful parents! Make sure you do your research before placing your children on medication.
Avatar f tn Yes, these medications can enlarge the heart, which is why a good doctor would tell you off the bat that an EKG should be done every 2 years at minimum! My son has been on ADHD medication since he was 5 years old. I've read every book, manual, talked to hundreds of doctors, researched online, you name it I've done it! And I've made sure that he gets an EKG every 2 years at least, so that a problem like this can be picked up early.
Avatar f tn Can the Concerta be causing the side effect of the dialation to his eyes? I mean his eyes are almost completely black with a very thin line of blue around them. I checked his eyes this morning before he took his Concerta pill and his eyes were still dialated, but not as badly as after he takes the Concerta. Should I take him to an eye doctor or should I discuss this with his psychiatist (who prescribes his Concerta) first?
255163 tn?1376869746 I hear about a very natureal blood thinnner , going to ask about that and go off of the plavix for good..It is called Nattokinase ..My health is not good and I am in so much pain on the plavix, joint pain and headaches and the list goes on and on.Hope this helps you out a little..
Avatar f tn Lamactil is about the safest drug on the market, every drug has it's side effects though. None are "full proof". Why are you going off your Mood stabilizer if you're BP, you know you cannot go med free. A sleep med isn't going to help on it's own. being off an anti-depressant or a mood stablizer like Lamactil will give you those symptoms, especially cold turkey. Especially mood swings, depression, irritability and definitely BP symptoms.
Avatar m tn Hey Chris, I just wanted to add that while some of the symptoms you described could be coming from the Concerta (it never hurts to google concerta and check out the symptoms), several are also ADHD symptoms - particularly the, ",mood swings, thoughts of suicide, couldnt fall asleep, depression, and anger." So I would make very sure that you are aware of what ADHD can do to you. It is your disease, and the best way to conquer it is with information about it.
1756970 tn?1314376733 hi, concerta ,and stratara, and all the others my doc put me on didn't come close to adderall. focalin worked to but was costly. adderall leavels your brain, and lets you be yourself. the way your supose to be.
Avatar n tn On a routine cardiology check for the Concerta meds, the cardiologist discovered my daughter had PACs. The cardiologist took her off all of her meds for 10 days and did another EKG. She still had the PACs even off meds. Now my daughter is on atenolol 2 mL per day, Concerta, and cetirizine all together. My problem now is that the Concerta is suddenly not working at all when she was doing so well before. The only change is the atenolol.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Concerta 18mg by a psychiatrist. I am currently studying for the bar exam and have been taking one pill everyday (since May 17th). The bar exam is on July 24th-26th, 2017. I have never taken Concerta everyday for this long before, and I know that daily use is not encouraged. However, I feel that taking it daily would allow me to prepare for the exam to the best of my ability.
Avatar n tn my 7 year old son has started chewing his fingers. When school started this year we had to increase his rittalin & now we have noticed he chews his fingers & rips the skin off of them, he also chewed the nails & skin off both of his toes one night.
982251 tn?1248781387 My daughter has been on concerta for 3 yrs now and she has facial tics. We took her off now and its been about 4 days, they seem to have gone away except once in away in awhile I see one but mostly 3\4 or more are gone. So I would like to know if they were becuse of the concerta and not touretts.
Avatar f tn Hi Corrie - I have heard that low magnesium can contribute to eye twitching. Will look up some articles for you later today so you can evaluate if it's worth looking into. Sorry to hear that is on-going!
Avatar f tn I've been taking 36 mg of concerta for a couple months. I don't take it everyday. I take it on the days I will need it. I hadn't taken it in two weeks since last time when I was coming off the meds I got very sad and cried for five hours about my future. I took it today and felt okay. Until I started coming down. I got the chills and began sweating which isn't totally unusual. But then i became so unmotivated I couldn't leave my room.
Avatar m tn In addition I am tapering off diazepam and down to 2mg in the morning and 1 at night. Everytime I try to get off the concerta I get terrible anxiety from it. I have it to a degree while on it also. I want off but my dr who takes 3 weeks to get into anyway, won’t switch me to a med I can taper off of. I know 3 weeks is a short time compared to what most of you have been through. But can someone please tell me how long my withdrawals are going to last??
Avatar f tn Hello all! I have had attention problems since icould remember. Im 24 now. But only in the year or so I've realized that it has actually caused a lot of problems study wise for me. I feel constantly bored or loos interest in the smallest tasks and tend not to sleep allot because it feels like I can't switch the conversations off in my head. I only really realized that my behavior was a bit odd, when my friend kept telling me that I walk around and interrupt allot of people in class.
Avatar n tn t get high off it anymore, but desperately need to clean the house - my friend gave me an 18mg concerta. I've had them before and they let me get all the house work done. My question, is it okay to take with such a large amount of xanax? (This is out of harm reduction) Drugs.com says no interaction, but I just want to make sure. People have told me the xanax will kill the stimulant high, some others have said the stimulant will put you in withdrawal...
16638194 tn?1449934941 re trying to find something that works for my son (we live in North Idaho and the nearest Psychiatrist is an hour and 30 minutes away). We took him off of the cocktail he was on and he is now taking 36mg Concerta and a small dose of Clonidine at bed time to help him sleep. Concerta doesn't seem to be working for him. We have him on medicine for aggression, better concentration, melt downs and ADHD. This poor kiddo literally has no control over his limbs off of medication.
Avatar f tn Yes I was diagnosed with ADHD. My sleep has always been good even with Concerta. If I am depressed, I am not more depressed now than I was before but the difference is my personality. Here are the studies that suggest long term effects, let me know your thoughts. They are mostly for Ritalin http://www.medicaldaily.com/long-term-ritalin-use-adhd-may-worsen-symptoms-and-reduce-drug-efficacy-245927 http://www.thefix.com/content/research-shows-ritalin-causes-long-term-brain-injury. . http://www.
Avatar f tn He was on Aderall for about 1 year, until it was taken off the shelves. Since then he has been on Strattera and Concerta. Although he suffered from most of the general side effects, the good the meds were doing was worth it. Our family GP recently did an EKG on him, and has discovered an irregular sinus rythem, and want him to have an Ultra Sound. Her worry is an Enlarged Ventricle. All of the ADD meds tell you to let your Dr.
Avatar f tn Its virtually always best to taper off slowly when going off a psychotropic medication. Otherwise getting off too quickly can lead to harmful side effects.
