There are some vein compression conditions that are known to cause Chronic Fatigue Syndrome but doctors still rarely diagnose them. I have been taking Concerta for one year. This was to counteract the fatigue and sleepiness that I had been getting from taking Paxil for depression. Though Concertat was initially effective, it gradually became more of a detriment than help. It made me very irritable, unfocused, and moody. I have worked with my doctor to gradually phase concerta out from the 72m I was taking daily.
I notice u r on Concerta as well? Is that for ADHD or for fatigue from fibro? It is a stimulant and addictive..mostly causes a dopamine dump but also contributes to seratonin levels as well. I was diagnosed with fibro as well...do not accept the diagnosis as i feel it is a bit vague. they put me on vyvanse bu it caused me more muscle tightness due to it is also a stimlant. Like Concerta..it is not considered quite as abused as Ritilin, addrerall etc.
m sorry to hear about the fatigue worsening. Have you discussed chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) with your doctor? Because the cause of chronic fatigue syndrome is unknown, treatment programs are directed at relief of symptoms. The goal is to regain some level of function and well-being.
Always talk to your doctor about any treatment decisions for CFS which is based on your overall medical condition and current symptoms.

I (28 year old male) have been dealing with various health issues since November 2013. I had some intense worries over STDs at the end of last year which turned out to be unfounded but caused a lot of stress. Following this, in January, I had an infection that gave me stomach pains which I assumed to be a bacterial or viral issue. The stomach pains were accompanied by fatigue as well but at the time were the main focus of my concern. They did not go away after the infection cleared up.
•Age. Chronic fatigue syndrome can occur at any age, but it most commonly affects people in their 40s and 50s.
•Sex. Women are diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome much more often than men, but it may be that women are simply more likely to report their symptoms to a doctor.
•Stress. Difficulty managing stress may contribute to the development of chronic fatigue syndrome.
One of the old heath pages that no longer exists talked about how there are different forms of fatigue. That drug only works on one form of fatigue (which is the one that makes you need to sleep).
Another form of fatigue is when you just haven't got the energy to do things. This is the type of fatigue you are talking about and that I know quite well. I can sleep for 12-14 hours and still not have the energy to do anything.

People who have chronic fatigue syndrome aren't necessarily anxious, at least not the chronic anxiety that is the mental disorder. If you're tired from anxiety, the anxiety would come first, then fatigue over a period of time. But often fatigue is caused by depression, which often goes hand in hand with anxiety.
Methylphenidate may be habit-forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for. Concerta should never be shared with another person, especially someone who has a history of drug abuse or addiction. Keep the medication in a secure place where others cannot get to it.

Fibromyalgia can cause such severe fatigue that it may seem like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome even. So, that is why the two are grouped into one forum. Then, too, there is one theory about Fibromyalgia that many may actually have Lyme's Disease that hasn't been diagnosed.
