Concerta for chronic fatigue

Common Questions and Answers about Concerta for chronic fatigue

concerta

Avatar m tn I have been taking Concerta for one year. This was to counteract the fatigue and sleepiness that I had been getting from taking Paxil for depression. Though Concertat was initially effective, it gradually became more of a detriment than help. It made me very irritable, unfocused, and moody. I have worked with my doctor to gradually phase concerta out from the 72m I was taking daily.
Avatar f tn One of the old heath pages that no longer exists talked about how there are different forms of fatigue. That drug only works on one form of fatigue (which is the one that makes you need to sleep). Another form of fatigue is when you just haven't got the energy to do things. This is the type of fatigue you are talking about and that I know quite well. I can sleep for 12-14 hours and still not have the energy to do anything.
Avatar n tn Please mention to your doctor about the fatigue and if there may be another med that you can take or if a supplement can be added to deal with the fatigue. I take Concerta to help with attention issues and fatigue. If you cannot find the energy to go out to exercise, add some extra chores inside the house to keep you moving. I have been there and know it gets better. Keep your spitits up and look forward to that day.
Avatar f tn I notice u r on Concerta as well? Is that for ADHD or for fatigue from fibro? It is a stimulant and addictive..mostly causes a dopamine dump but also contributes to seratonin levels as well. I was diagnosed with fibro as well...do not accept the diagnosis as i feel it is a bit vague. they put me on vyvanse bu it caused me more muscle tightness due to it is also a stimlant. Like Concerta..it is not considered quite as abused as Ritilin, addrerall etc.
969557 tn?1314370614 My son was on concerta and adderall and they both can cause seizures. I would ask doctor to you for an egg and make sure you are not having seizures.Witch is a side effect to concerta and can not be reversed .They can only give you medicine to try and control the seizures. I wish we had never put my son on these medicines.
Avatar f tn You might want to talk to your doc about reducing your anti anxiety medication. Do you have the same doc for both the concerta and the effexor? Note, Concerta should last about 8 hours while the Vyvannse could go 10 to 12 hours. Also Concerta is a Methylphenidate, while Vyvannse is an Adderall based med and is stronger. You might want to try the Vyvannse again, but increase the dose slower.
2083581 tn?1332307861 I was having a severe depression problem from taking too many pain meds for my chronic migraines, which worsened my already strong depression, and today is the first day i have felt like myself again in a very long time. seems like a good cocktail.
Avatar f tn Hi folks, I took Concerta for 2 weeks and gave it up because of GI issues and a lot of facial twitching in addition to still having a lot of fatigue. I stopped taking it almost a week ago but I still have a remaining eye twitch that is driving me nuts. Now I'm thinking the current twitch is likely unrelated to Concerta and may be MS related. If so, it is a new symptom for me and like most MS symptoms, I need relief. Has anyone had any success getting rid of the twitches?
Avatar f tn My major problems all this time are fatigue and weakness in my legs. My previous neurologist had suggested and prescribed Concerta for some temporary help for those symptoms. I am currently taking a 54mg tablet each morning and I cannot tell that it really helps since I do have "good" and "bad" periods. Any information will be greatly appreciated. ...
Avatar f tn There are some vein compression conditions that are known to cause Chronic Fatigue Syndrome but doctors still rarely diagnose them. Nutcracker Syndrome has long been known to cause chronic fatigue syndrome and another similar one that I have called May-Thurner Sydrome has been causing me chronic fatigue and possibly mild narcalepsy as well since I was 13.
16613731 tn?1449676204 Assuming I read your description correctly, you are still taking Concerta, right? If that's the case then be advised that Concerta, like all stimulants, has the side effect of hair loss(http://www.drugs.com/sfx/concerta-side-effects.html). It's likely that most doctors won't mention this, because it isn't a very prevalent side effect.
1523516 tn?1330044257 I was given concerta for fatigue. It is also an ADHD med. It makes me a little shakey like I drank too much caffeen for a little while, but it works. If I take it first thing in the AM, it si wearing off by 3 or 4 pm when I really need it. I had to stop taking it for a while because it is making the acid reflux worse.
Avatar f tn They said I had Lymes and treated me with Rocephin 2 gm Iv for 28 days and DOXYCYCLINE 100mg po BID for 28 days. The muscle fatigue went away and joint pain but all my labs from quest were negative. My western blot,bortenella,Babesia,Q-Fever. Lymes specialist says a biofilm will form around the antibodies causing them to not show up. Is this true? I am still having pain under my left breast under ribs at times. My muscle do get tired easier. I am confused and do not know what to do.

Avatar n tn Help! I have seen 16 drs who do not believe in chronic fatigue. I can not even get out of be and I have been on provigil and adderall neither of which help me at all. I have also been to the emergency and my thyroid is supposedly level. They just tell me that they can not do anything for me. Is there any help for me out there?
Avatar f tn My 9 year old son hs developed a tic, I believe, from taking ritalin for atention deficit disorder. He did well all year in school, and I stopped giving him ritalin one month ago when school ended. It seems he has developed this tic of rolling his eyes after stopping the medicine. Does anyone have any advice? We have tried many different medicines- concerta, metadate, all wioth severe side effects with my son, so do not want to keep trying defferent medicines.
Avatar f tn m sorry to hear about the fatigue worsening. Have you discussed chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) with your doctor? Because the cause of chronic fatigue syndrome is unknown, treatment programs are directed at relief of symptoms. The goal is to regain some level of function and well-being. Always talk to your doctor about any treatment decisions for CFS which is based on your overall medical condition and current symptoms.
Avatar f tn Concerta is almost identical to Ritalin.
Avatar m tn It soulds like you could still have lyme disease. It can cause all your symptoms and chronic fatigue. Lyme can be misdiagnosed as chronic fatigue syndrome.
Avatar f tn I'll have to agree with dollyn. I only used Concerta for a short period of time, but I am regretting it still. I was 17 when I started them and the sx became chronic (tics), so I won't even think about what the effect would be for a child.
Avatar f tn Hello all! I have had attention problems since icould remember. Im 24 now. But only in the year or so I've realized that it has actually caused a lot of problems study wise for me. I feel constantly bored or loos interest in the smallest tasks and tend not to sleep allot because it feels like I can't switch the conversations off in my head. I only really realized that my behavior was a bit odd, when my friend kept telling me that I walk around and interrupt allot of people in class.
Avatar n tn My son is 15 years old and for as long as I can remeber he has always been very unhappy & extremely angry. He's been in & out of therapy (counseling) since he was 4 years old. We had NEVER concidered medication until about 8 months ago. My son was tired of not being liked, feeling angry, sad and felt he needed help beyond just counseling.
