My daughter is 5 years old and has ADHD. She recently went on the drug Concerta, then her PCP prescribed cetirizine as well for hay fever that I didn't even realize she had. On a routine cardiology check for the Concerta meds, the cardiologist discovered my daughter had PACs. The cardiologist took her off all of her meds for 10 days and did another EKG. She still had the PACs even off meds. Now my daughter is on atenolol 2 mL per day, Concerta, and cetirizine all together.

All I know is that the medication Rozerem which adjusts the sleep cycle in the exact same manner as melatonin is a safe and effective sleep aide but I don't know if its prescribed for children. Its complex with medications for children as the dosages and responses are very different than adults. All of the medications you mentioned are used for ADD and work but they are all activating as they are stimulants so its complex as regards sleep.
was diagnosed with adhd about 2 mos ago and my doctor put me on 36mgs of concerta it seems to help with the impulse control, but I am still having an issue with my mind being in a thousand different places. I also have a seven year old son who was also diagnosed with adhd about a week ago and because of his size he is also on 36mg of concerta and it is making him calmer at home, but when I talked to his teacher today she said that she is not seeing any improvement at all.
He is not a case of "child outlashing". Except for the hyperactivity he was an otherwise well behaved child. As I stated before... he did not throw tanturms, was very respectful to adults and children, played well with others, etc... He is not a zombie! While on the meds, he still plays with others and participates in class. He even plays baseball after school and takes art lessons. When he was not on the medication he was chewing on stuff all the time....

Second is to try and deal with it with out meds. Third, sometimes the ADHD is just so overwhelming for a child that something extra is needed. His bio may of had alcohol and pharmaceutical drug dependencies because he was self medicating since he had no clue what was going on with him. Point being that if the meds are used correctly and if they are needed - then they are a useful part of coping with ADHD. So do your research - its for your childs welfare.
Use of these drugs in combination would not be an unusual practice if done responsibly. It is not uncommon for children with complex emotional and behavioral issues to receive more than one psychotropic medication. That said, it is always useful to respectfully ask the physician if the patient actually requires multiple drugs, or if therapeutic results could be obtained with fewer medications or lower dosages.

So easy to change a diagnosis if the doctor believes it to be another condition. In Japan, children diagnosed with ADHD are given L-theanine. This is an natural amino acid from tea proven to help with ADHD symptoms. There are no adverse side effects. See another doctor with your concerns. Despite the diagnosis, there is no law stating a child had to be given any drug whatsoever. Drugging children is criminal i agree. Good luck.

Interesting, I can find no mention of a 32mg dose of concerta. Is he on a 36 mg dose? if he is, "The maximum dosage of Concerta should not be greater than 0.9 mg per pound of body weight."
fish oil is certainly something worth trying. There are ones out there developed specifically for kids (chewable, etc), and they will have the suggested dosage on the bottle.
I really can't see any reason that primrose (I assume the oil) would be worth your money.
Therefore, it can be treated with observation, medications for prophylaxis (which ends up being life-long), or with a special procedure called an electrophysiology study with radiofrequency ablation.
If you are not comfortable with the care that she is receiving, it would be important to consider a second opinion, especially one from a pediatric electrophysiologist, a pediatric cardiologist who specializes in electrical problems with the heart.
I have heard many times what you are both saying about your children and being on Concerta. and I want you to both do this for your child . Get them an EEG and don't take no form your childrens Doctors. I know this because my son started to have seizures once he was on these drugs and it could be from the drugs or because he never had ADD OR ADHD it was Seizures witch can look like ADD OR ADHD OR BOTH.

The pyschiatrist actually prescribed Zoloft in the end for the anxiety, it has been FDA approved for use in children and she felt it was a better fit for him.

I just want to help him feel better. He really has great empathy with other children, has a good sense of humour and can be a lot of fun, just so intense and extremely sensitive about what others think about him.
The other thing I would do is take your son who has and is on Adderall to see a neurologist to make sure everything is OK with his brain .A lot of children who have been told they have add or adhd and even both add and adh are misdiagnosed because doctors ,teacher,parents don't think about having the children brains check for other things like Seizures.
15 yr old daughter was diag with adhd 2nd grade - although was family "joke" adhd long before. 1st on adderall with explosive behavior - had to try before could take straterra, insurance. Strattera was fine for sev yrs - although only limited imp - just enough to tolerate her. Problems with social interaction and her mouth - she's constantly argumentative and I believe ODD. After menstruation began, strattera appeared worthless.
