Avatar m tn It is a central nervous system stimulant and is released through out the day. Sounds like the effects of the Concerta wearing off towards the end of the day? Have you talked to her Dr about how she is responding at home? I will give you a link that I use often for drugs on ADHD and Cancer. It's very user friendly and they keep it very simple to get around. This is the specific page for Concerta's side effects. http://www.pharmacydrugguide.
Avatar f tn I can see being on V and perhaps adderall in the late after noon. Or concerta and ritalin in the late afternoon. Since the Concerta/ritalin are the same type of meds. Same thing for Vyvannse and Adderall. Point being, why was the V not working for you? What symptoms did you have. I would think that the two could have been over dosing you. Did you ever try just V alone?
Avatar n tn My daughter is nearly 11 years old and has been taking Concerta (now on 36mg) since March. The doctor recommended a switch to Strattera for the reason that it works 24 hours (Concerta is effective for only 12 hours) and will help my daughter concentrate more. I have no idea whether Strattera is a better alternative, can anyone tell me if this is true?
Avatar f tn feeling nervous or irritable, sleep problems (insomnia); loss of appetite; nausea, stomach pain; or headache. So it is probably that the combination of the drug and coffee is the cause of the nausea.
Avatar m tn These are typical side effects froom withdrawls of that type of medication (amphetamine, methylphetamine) or stimulants. If a patient is used to being on a stimulant drug for some time, withdrawing that drug would cause a general slowing down of the body, hence the extreme fatigue, lack of motivation and focus. Your body is going through an increased response of side effects from withdrawl, as you've been of this medication for a year which is why your symptoms may be more exaggerated.
11352669 tn?1417486501 Typically, if you have a good, strong high protein breakfast, the effects positive effects of Concerta will last longer then without that kind of breakfast - which means you could try a lower dose. Any recent head injuries. Do you play football or soccer? If you have been using it for more then several months, then something else is probably going on. Its always worth mentioning this to your doc.
969557 tn?1314370614 My son was on concerta and adderall and they both can cause seizures. I would ask doctor to you for an egg and make sure you are not having seizures.Witch is a side effect to concerta and can not be reversed .They can only give you medicine to try and control the seizures. I wish we had never put my son on these medicines.
13415927 tn?1430701518 my psychiatrist was very dubious to put me on ADD medication as im an ex crystal meth addict. obvious reasons. ive been clean for 8 years now and have been on concerta for almost a year. but i am bipolar and have very bad anxiety. concerta works very well for my ADD but not for my anxiety, is there a better way to get the best of both worlds?
Avatar f tn He was on Aderall for about 1 year, until it was taken off the shelves. Since then he has been on Strattera and Concerta. Although he suffered from most of the general side effects, the good the meds were doing was worth it. Our family GP recently did an EKG on him, and has discovered an irregular sinus rythem, and want him to have an Ultra Sound. Her worry is an Enlarged Ventricle. All of the ADD meds tell you to let your Dr.
Avatar f tn Im a 19 years old boy and i have tried vyvanse which did miracles at first at 20mg until the effect decreased and had to go up to 60mg with no effects except the bad ones and went back to my old self(lazy, tired, unmotivated etc.). I am now on concerta 36mg and it seems like working but not all the time and clearly not as much as first time vyvanse.
Avatar n tn Yes i'm on Concerta, which is for the ADHD i have, and it's a stimulant. I take 72 mg. of it. I don;t know whether it's that that's messing with my heart rate, or something else, but it'll take long to recover after exercise, it'll start racing sometimes when i'm sitting and a lot when i'm standing. Last night, i was leaning against the counter and i felt nauseous all of a sudden, short of breath, dizzy, and my heart was beating funny.
Avatar f tn I have child that was also on Concerta 36. There are two types of this medication. Concerta and Concerta CR which is controller release, I believe it was called. However, I found that concerta is not a very effective drug for dealing with ADHD. You might want to have the school give her the second dose at 1pm at school, this way it will avoid the medicine lapsing while she is at school.
Avatar n tn what are withdrawl effects on children age 9year old female coming off risperidone? dosages was 0.5mg of rispiradone in the morning with 72 mg of concerta for ADHD. AND A 0.
Avatar f tn Hi I have been on Concerta 56mg - 72mg on and off for several years. However, recently I came across a study that showed that long term use of the med impairs brain cells so I stopped abruptly. It has been years since I have been completely off the drug and I noticed that I have lost alot of my personality. I used to be so bubbly talkative and hammy. I no longer possess any of those qualities anymore, among other issues and I feel that they may be due to the long term use of the drug.
1575110 tn?1334664635 Hello, I also have adult ADD and I have tried both Concerta and Vyvanse. My doctor wanted me to try Concerta for a few weeks and I didn't like it at all. It didn't agree with me. It made it feel depressed and NOT motivated to do everyday things. I was on a 36 mg dose and when I went back to my doctor I told him I hated it. He mentioned that there is a new medication called Vyvanse and asked if I would like to try it. With nothing to lose, I said yes. I do like Vyvanse.
Avatar n tn for a 3 month supply of both, but they are all natural and there are very little side effects. And the side effects from the ritulin and concerta were really harming my son. I encourage all of you to look into these 2 things, they really work just as good as the prescription meds.
Avatar f tn 12 to 14 hours for Vyvanse and 8 to 10 for Concerta. Thats very close to all day coverage and not necessary. Second, they are of two different chemical classes. Concerta is a methylphenidate based medicine, while Vyvanse is an amphetamine based med. Usually you go to an amphetamine based because your methylphenidate is not working for you. The only possible reason I can think of to take both would be to turn off your mind at night so you could go to sleep and stay asleep.
Avatar m tn Is there anyway to reduce this while taking adderall, and what could it be caused by? I was then switched to 18mg Concerta ER and I still get the same side-effects but they are about 85% less severe and last alot shorter 1-2 days max, but doesnt even work for me. Maybe amphetamines are too "strong" for me? I diagnosed with ADD and was prescribed Adderall 20mg XR when I was about 22 years old, and I didn't have a problem at all except slightly dry mouth.
